We had a great time at the Dolon House. Our first visit to Jim Thorpe. John and Eric were absolutely wonderful. Very pleasant. Kudos to John's breakfasts! What delicious food! The home has a lot of antiques and really shows the old time period well. We got to meet Lilly also! What a cutie! Would definitely return to Dolon if planning another trip to the area. If you are going to be in the Jim Thorpe area, The Dolon House Bed and Breakfast is the place to stay. My husband and I were warmly greeted as we pulled up to the very well preserved mansion, and were secured a parking spot in the lot. Our host was wonderful and accommodating, as he helped us carry our luggage into the mansion and escorted us to our room. Our room, "The Blue Room," was immaculate to say the least. The little extras were amazing. We booked a romance package and there was a bottle of wine and scrumptious chocolates waiting for us in the mini fridge. Other goodies were coffee and tea, and an assortment of yummy cookies out in the beautiful hall. Everything about our room was delightful and cozy. The decor and relaxing atmosphere really made us feel pampered and cared for. The building itself is very well maintained and was spotlessly clean. The gorgeous Tiffany glass chandeliers and Victorian decor really make you feel like you're back in time. The front porch is a lovely place to sit and relax, read, or enjoy a snack. Last, but certainly not least, our three course breakfast the next morning, was absolutely divine! I cannot have milk or eggs and they had oat milk, and almond milk for my coffee, whichever I preferred. Also, my husband had eggs for his entree and I was served a roasted corn polenta that was out of this world. The chef is amazing! Everything was delicious and we both cleaned our plates. You can immediately tell right from the start that everything is handled with love and care, and we cannot wait to take another trip back! read more

What a wonderful stay at the Dolon House! Michael and Jeffri are the most gracious hosts. The Inn is beautiful, loving ugly restore and decorated. It's part history museum/part art gallery. And don't get me started on their cooking! Amazing! Our suite was fabulous. Devil is the details and no detail is too small to be missed. From the bedside Hershey kisses to the custom made soaps & bath bombs, they've thought of everything to make your stay feel extra special. The rooms are gorgeous! The morning light streams in through the original windows. There is always a surprise to catch your eye- beautiful little bird carvings, a book of poetry on the bedside table, amazing art collection on the walls. The bed was so comfortable and we enjoyed the luxurious linens. We so enjoyed the company of Micheal and Jeffri, even made best friends with the sweet dog, Pearl! They pointed us in the direction of all the best shops, coffee shops and hiking trails. Just go- stay there, thank me later. read more

My husband and I spent 2 glorious nights here at the Dolon House. It was our first time at a bed and breakfast and both Michael and Jeffri made this such an amazing experience. Each room in the entire house is carefully and beautifully decorated. The atmosphere was so peaceful and everything we needed for a weekend getaway. The house is situated in the perfect spot in Jim Thorpe that allowed us to come and go easily to walk the town any time of day. The breakfast... top notch!! Like nothing you've ever experienced served promptly at 9am each morning. Sitting on the porch at night was our favorite. It was quite chilly when we were here, and there were warm blankets to enjoy and keep warm. Please book a stay with the Dolon House and it will be an experience you won't forget!! read more

FIRST RATE. Michael and Jeffri have created something special here. My wife and I booked on a whim (less than a week out), for our anniversary, having never been that portion of the state, or to a B&B before. We were greeted with a brief history of the town, and the house itself and were escorted to our rooms by Michael who assisted with our luggage. He provided a map of the town and outlined brief highlights and provided hours and restrictions (due to COVID). He even booked us a reservation for dinner on short notice. It is located in the most central portion of town, making it perfect for exploration of all the boutiques, restaurants, train rides, bike trails, and other attractions. The outlying area is filled with other attractions like hiking, white water rafting, and state parks within a short driving distance. Your hosts are more than willing to provide you with detailed recommendations based on exactly what you are looking for. The house itself is an architectural masterpiece, filled with eclectic art, antiques, and various collections each carrying a story if you're willing to indulge yourself, as they are part of their personal collection, reflecting their taste and experiences. Each of the guestrooms has a bit of a theme but is cohesive with the rest of the house. No hokey clutter here. Everything is very clean, and the attention to detail in every category is what makes this place shine. Breakfast is equally as exquisite. A multi-course experience that is unique each day, prepared by Jeffri. Everything is locally sourced, with some items coming from the gardens of the property. They are accommodating to dietary restrictions, which did not apply to us, but I am sure are equally as creative and impressive. The Dolon House is not just accommodation, it is an experience that highlights Michael and Jeffri's experience and successes in the hospitality industry. My fiancee and I decided on a whim to take a long weekend trip to Jim Thorpe. Even with the historical town of Jim Thorpe surrounding and the many shops and activities to see, the Dolon House was the highlight of our trip. Michael & Jeffri are wonderful innkeepers and do such a good job. The house is big, beautiful, clean, & immaculately decorated with a king's ransom of antiques and artwork. It is so clear that they have not just a great eye for these aesthetics but a love and passion for all things beautiful and interesting. The house stands as a celebration and love letter to history, art, and culture. We stayed in the Garret Suite on the 3rd floor. The suite's lone window gets a ton of natural light during the first half of the day. It was great to wake up to a gorgeously-decorated room bathed in sunlight. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was newly redone. The room had a Keurig for any night-time tea or coffee. The breakfasts, served at 9, were spectacular. Three courses of fantastic food, prepared with care, well-thought-out flavors & textures, executed perfectly. Our 1st morning we started with a rugelach: tender & buttery pastry, beautifully sweet but balanced filling. Next course: yogurt lightly sweetened w/ heirloom rhubarb & served w/ local fruit, melon, & homemade granola. Main course: savory bread pudding w/ rich custard, variety of fresh veggies, local bacon, mushrooms, & great funky cheese that cut through the richness just perfectly. Second morning started w/ a peach tart topped w/ crumbled blue cheese. I've never thought to put blue cheese on a peach tart. Exciting flavor, perfectly ripe & sweet peaches, perfect pastry, & great high-quality cheese that shined through it. Impeccably balanced flavor. 2nd course: lavender panna cotta w/ fresh fruit & honey. The lavender, used sparingly and tastefully, imparted a very light aromatic & herbal flavor onto the mildly sweet cream. Main course: mashed potato-and-custard roulade (this has a name which I can't remember) filled w/ black forest ham & cheese, served w/ what I think was spinach-artichoke creme fraiche and warm pepper salad. Garnished w/ huge capers marinated in white balsamic vinegar, providing a beautiful briny, salty, acidic bite that complemented the rich potato dish just perfectly. Michael speaks highly of the coffee they serve, but my fiancee & I both drink tea, & his coffee roaster makes the tea blends as well. The teas were all fantastic! If you do have tea, I recommend the scarlet blend, a lightly sweet mix of fruit that turns into a gorgeous red tea when steeped. Paired with just a little honey, it was one of my favorite teas I've ever had. The portions are not massive - it's just not the kind of food you would want to pig out on, anyway - yet the food is deceptively filling since it's so rich & flavorful. You will be full well into the mid-afternoon & to dinnertime. After breakfast the second morning, my fiancee & I stuck around a bit. Michael was more than happy to let us linger in the dining room while we chatted & finished our tea. He was such a great host, enthusiastic, proud of the food & his house. His talks are a really entertaining part of breakfast. Over breakfast, he tells detailed stories of the history of Carbon County & Jim Thorpe. Jeffri is a bit more behind-the-scenes but his breakfasts & handiwork certainly do not go unnoticed, & he was very friendly when we did happen to interact with him. On our second day in Jim Thorpe, my fiancee & I did the scenic train then took a little stroll around town. We kept passing the B&B which is in a great central location to everything in the town, very accessible for walkers. It helped to be able to stop to use the bathroom or get some water. Unfortunately I don't drink enough water as it is - I fainted while walking around in town. Some really kind people stopped to help, an ambulance was called - long story short, I was fine, my pulse was good, blood pressure normal, blood sugar normal. We got back to the B&B, sat on the porch (at what I described as the "best seats in town," looking right down Broadway). My fiancee went to tell Michael what had happened. He was so understanding, helpful, and - even if this sounds weird - fatherly, in the nicest way. He poured us some big glasses of ice water & checked up on how I was feeling whenever we crossed paths. It meant a lot that he was so kind and accommodating to us during that scary ordeal. Once I got my bearings back, of course, we went to have dinner at Moya which he had recommended; it was downright fantastic, but this isn't supposed to be a review for Moya! My fiancee & I will certainly be returning to the Dolon House in the future. It was a truly enjoyable stay for us. It's so clear that so much hard work and effort goes into making the house beautiful and comfortable and making the food delicious and memorable. My husband and I stayed here for our 18th anniversary getaway. There's so much history to this house and the hosts were friendly and informative. We stayed in the Blue Room and thoroughly enjoyed it. Their breakfasts truly are a culinary experience! You won't regret staying here! read more

Cute place but super cluttered with too much cute stuff. I've been to BnBs before and when I come to JT usually stay at the Times House BnB on Race Street which is more my style. Also, Michael the owner of Dolon seems to try too hard... rather annoying. Not a bad place--kind of pricey for what you get. read more
