I have never been hear before but it was my partner friend that recommended we go. We was just having a walk round and we came across its a lovely grand building from the outside, we wasn't hungry so decided to have a drink. As we entered it was lovely and grand and it had a beautiful chandelier, We went the the main restaurant but was told we had to go the the other room as we wasn't eating which was a shame as the room looked beautifulIt. The room we went to was quite dark with lots of mirrors it was nice but not as nice as the previous room, it was very busy but we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table, the staff was very pleasant I ordered a strawberry daiquiri it was very nice. The prices were quite reasonable for the type if place. There was something missing from my visit to the dome I didnt feel like I wanted to stay that long one drink was long enough I may return and try food in the restaurant but I wouldn't rush back even though it was a lovely place. read more

I was reccomended to visit here by one of my friends as he said the cocktails are excellent. It is a very elegant building inside and out. We wanted to have a drink in the main bar area with the 'dome' but was told we could only go in here if we were eating. Bit of a shame really as this is one of the main reasons my friend told us to come. We decided to stay but had to get a table in a room off the main entrance hall. the décor is quite formal - dark wood and panneling with chandelliers. It is very pleasant but not really to my modern tatstes. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table to become available. once one was available we were quickly shown to it. We placed our order for a couple of cocktails and received them in good time. They were excellent. With the drinks order you receive a little bowl of popcorn which is a nice touch. Prices are not much more than you'd expect which was a nice surprise as I thought they were going to be really expensive. I'm not sure if I'd return but it is definitely worth at least one visit if you're in Edinburgh. read more

We had a lovely luncheon. I had the steak and ale pie with chips and peas. It was so savory and delicious. The pie was filled with tender chunks of beef, whole mushrooms and gravy. The beef was fork tender - like pot roast. The crust was more like puff pastry- light and buttery. The portion was enormous! I finished off the meal with the cheese plate. The service is fur coat and no knickers. Dreadful, uninterested and dead behind the eyes waitresses and servers made my last visit to the Dome my final one. There are far better establishments in Edinburgh that are actually bothered about their patrons. read more

It was our first time at The Club Room and it was such a great experience. For one, the ambience was great for a quiet evening meal for two. Yes, the place to take your friends from abroad to show off some granduer of Edinburgh! I like the time around Christmas when they go all out and install the theme to the max. Decorated pillars outsite? Check! Massive tree in the main bar / restaurant? Check! Good atmosphere, friendly waiting staff and free nuts or haggisballs?! Check, check and check! A converted bank, The Dome is located on Edinburgh's classy George Street. The building itself is absolutely magnificent, and would not look out of place in Athens or Rome! The exterior pillars are seen at their best at Christmas when they are wrapped in lights as part of the pub's Christmas decorations. Inside, The Dome is equally, if not more, spectacular! Your eyes are immediately drawn to an awesome dome (hence the name of the pub), complete with ornate glass. The opulence is further enhanced by more grand pillars, chandeliers and mirrors. Really, the main room would not look out of place in a palace! The bar itself is circular in design with an ornate circular gantry in the centre. There are smaller rooms off the main dome bar. Not surprisingly, considering the surroundings, drinks are very much on the expensive side, but I suppose you are paying for the ambience! Food is available, although I have never partaken of it myself. The clientele is clearly of the discerning mature type mixed with curious tourists. The Dome is well worth a visit, if only to take in the sheer magnificence of the architecture and to enjoy a drink in the most salubrious of surroundings! read more

Burger came back pink. When I mentioned this, the waiter told me there was tomato sauce in the burger patty and that's why it was pink, he also insisted that even if he sent it back it would come back the same. I did not believe him as tomato sauce is not a common ingredient in a patty, and even if it was I doubt it would be enough to make the mince pink. Needless to say, did not finish the burger and left hungry. The next morning I called to ask what is in the burger. The lady on the phone told me there was no tomato sauce in it, hence, the waiter had lied to us. I told her this and she recommended I email them so a manager can investigate. I have since not heard back. Disgusting and truly disgraceful service. Definitely not worth the money. read more

With Christmas coming up a visit to The Dome is a MUST! With its circle bar in the middle of the room, at Christmas time it has a huge tree that is sparkling and filled with glitter. The bar is enchanting too, its warmth and decor gives it a magical feel. The prices are slightly above average but they are worth it for your surroundings. read more

The dome is inside what used to be a bank, it is a really impressive building with a red carpet to welcome you. On entering you can chosse wither the cocktail lounge, with its fantastic display of cocktail shakers or you can enter the main hall and choose from either a drink sitting at the bar or casual or formal dining. The cocktail bar also serves a limited menu mostly sandwiches etc. If you go on a Sunday lunchtime there is usually live music. A great place to go for a break whilst shopping. The club sandwiches are huge and can easily be shared by two. The service is fantastic, especially in the formal area at the back of the hall. This place really let me down. It's probably one of the most beautiful restaurants in Edinburgh but the service is really poor. From my experience here, the drinks I ordered were downright horrible (especially for the price) and the bartender had a terrible ageist attitude towards me. Me and my husband were on holiday with another couple and had dinner here. We had reservations and were promptly seated. The place is beautiful and since it was decorated for Christmas it was absolutely stunning. The food was delicious however we ordered a bottle of wine that tasted terrible so we sent it back which they did not like! We were told that if we didn't like the second bottle we would have to pay for it. They did not have a sommelier on staff and did not seem to know what a sommelier even is! This is a luxury dining experience whether going in for a meal or just a drink and a chat. The food, though slightly more costly was out of this world. The staff were polite and more than willing to accommodate special requests and although a very busy time of the year, we were made to feel relaxed and very well looked after. As a student visiting The Dome is really the only chance I get to enter a place via a red carpet. Located on elegant George Street and oozing with ostentatious yet somehow right glamour, The Dome is the perfect place to go for afternoon tea, or, later in the evening, cocktails. From the imposing foyer (and fabulous loos!) to the several bars, the atmosphere is vibrant and luxurious, with chandeliers, gold mirrors and, at the moment, an enormous glittering Christmas tree. As others have said the Dome really is the place to come in the christmas period. From the end of November the decorate the huge pillars outside with enormous garlands. And the inside , with huge tree and other slightly over the top decorations give the place a glamourous glitzy feel that you don't see too often. A great place to take parents or inlaws for afternoon tea after a bit of shopping as well as later in the day for a drink or a light meal. You will find yourself leaving The Dome with one lingering question in your mind, "How the hell did they get that christmas tree in here?". It is, of course, a fabulous venue and a feature of a Christmas in Edinburgh, but it is also underwhelming and overpriced should you decide to sit down within the velvet roped exhibition that is the dining portion of the one main room. On the other hand, the bar area provides exactly the same visual delights and the relaxed atmosphere from which it is best to enjoy them. A truely fantastic venue which should be a great backdrop for high quality food. Unfortunately the food offering doesn't live up to the setting and despite low quality ingredients is charged towards the top end! Made a reservation at the Dome based on all the good reviews and we were not disappointed. The ambience is upscale with jazz music playing and a stellar former-bank dome overhead. The salads were nice. The onion soup was terrific. The fish we had for dinner was cooked nicely. Overall, the meal was very nice without killer prices. Looks very pretty and a drink in the bar would be fine but wouldn't eat there again. Food very poor quality; not one of the adults I was eating with enjoyed their meal and three of them were still waiting for food when the rest of us had finished. Waiters unapologetic .
