They offered complementary wine in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Their breakfast was provided by nearby bakeries which was really nice to support/highlight local businesses! The hotel was clean, quiet, and staff were all very friendly. Even the interactions that we witnessed were all very helpful and pleasant. This hotel is walking distance to a few restaurants by utilizing the walking path along the water. The only negative about our stay was the temperature in the room. It was very warm (even in March) and since there is no air conditioning we were forced to keep the back door open and bugs were coming in from the crack of the screen door. Otherwise very pleasant stay and we'd come back.

Overall pleased with our 2 night staycation here. They offer complimentary easy parking, beautiful…read morerooms (we stayed in the ocean view jr suite), friendly lobby staff, relaxing vibe. Daily breakfast is included with your stay. The breakfast consists of pastries, bagels/ cream cheese, yogurt, oatmeal and hard-boiled eggs. They also offer gluten-free bread and pastry options, which I appreciate. Coffee, tea and juices included. There is no hot food. One thing to point out is the rooms do not have air-conditioning. This typically isn't an issue because half Moon Bay runs cooler and comfortable temperatures for most of the year but my husband and I do prefer a colder room at night time so we slept with the door open. There was no ceiling fan, but they do have a couple of portable fans stored in the closets for use. Shower in our room had low water pressure, so not great for those with longhair. The hotel is right next-door to Sam's chowder House so easy walk. Beach access-there is a beautiful walking path right downstairs, which you can access from the hotel. The only thing between the walking path and the ocean is some rocks. I was told by a local that the water directly in front of the hotel is not swimmable but there is beach access with some water about 5 minute walk down the path. The path is smooth so easy for strollers, bikes or other means.

Venue: We held the ceremony and cocktail hour outside and the reception indoors. Guests loved the deck and waterfront views. It was a bit windy at first, but the deck blocked most of it. Our 3:45 PM May ceremony was shady, so I wouldn't recommend fans or parasols for the main lawn. There's also another ceremony area beyond the trees that looked sunnier, we used that area to take family formals. We had 7 tables inside, but it definitely can fit at least 8, though a few tables must be broken down for the dance floor. We used that space for younger guests, which worked fine. One of the biggest perks was the in-house catering and many inclusions, which made planning much easier. Not having to coordinate multiple vendors kept everything streamlined. From our first tour, Crystal and Lisa were wonderful. Crystal was especially helpful and was basically our wedding planner/day of coordinator. On the wedding day, she and the team even helped set up our DIY décor, which we really appreciated. We brought everything from SF, and they were very accommodating. The venue also has great coastal décor that fit our theme perfectly. Food: The complimentary tasting was fun! Trying the food, drinks, and picking linens made it feel more real. We didn't love the passed appetizers served that day, so we chose different menu items. Guests especially liked the clam chowder, mahi mahi, pesto penne, and hibiscus margarita! The tri-tip was a bit tough, but likely because of us pushing dinner to start a bit later. We also added stationed appetizers for cocktail hour and late-night flatbread. I'd suggest placing the flatbread on the deck instead of near the dance floor so guests can enjoy it more easily. DJ: We loved how connected the deck and reception space felt--you could step outside for a drink, still hear the music, and easily return to the dance floor. We chose Mark Addington from the venue's approved DJ list, and he was fantastic. He kept everything running smoothly and brought great energy to the celebration. Culture & Entertainment: We wanted to include a tea ceremony and lion dancing, and Maverick's House made both easy. The upstairs bridal suite was a peaceful setting for our tea ceremony, and the outdoor space worked perfectly for the lion dance. We were the first couple to have lion dancing at the venue, and we appreciated being able to do that. We're so grateful we chose Maverick's House and couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our wedding!

Attended a founder/leader dinner here: patio heaters worked overtime so the conversation could keep flowing long after sunset (crucial--even in August, Half Moon Bay loves a chill). Inside, the place is clean, spacious, and well set up for groups that actually want to connect. No cheesy banquet hall vibes. Staff was on-point but never hovering. Bottom line: If you want a space where smart people can gather and the ocean energy does half the work for you, Mavericks House delivers. Worth booking if you care about atmosphere and want your event to feel memorable, not staged.

We were able to open our sliding door all night to enjoy the fresh air, and sea sounds. We received a nice touch with a nice note to say "Happy Anniversary!" with a bottle of wine, Hess Cab. Thanks Veronica or Victoria! Our room was very clean and it was impeccably clean. The sea decor was nice touch to the room. I loved the Aveda products to complement the experience which was nice. The front of house staff were very nice and welcoming and answered all our questions. Now on to the less desirable part of our experience..... As we decided at the end night to grab a cocktail to take back to the room, this is where it went bad! To provide the full picture, there were 3 ppl at the bar, enjoying their drinks. One table in the far back that a server was helping. I asked for a mojito only to be greeted with, "ya that's not gonna happen! We don't make those here!" A simple, "I'm so sorry unfortunately we do not have the ingredients to make those here as we have a limited ingredient list." Would have been appropriate. A smart mouth comment does not elude customer service. If you don't like to work in the industry, find a new job!! Our drinks were subpar, and a lesson in customer service could go a long way. I would start with the basics. Even simply asking my husband if he would like to upgrade his spirit in his cocktail vs just quickly pouring and slamming a drink down. I strongly recommend your team reading "Unreasonable Hospitality!" It may make you think about how you made a lasting impression. For me it made me feel like I never want to come back. And, yes, I work in the hospitality industry so this was unacceptable! Do better! This is how one bad experience can make the lasting impression! UPDATE 7/29 I want to call out the Hotel Manager, Cecilio Reyes, for his "Unreasonable Hospitality"! He called me immediately to better understand the feedback that was provided. He went out of his way to pick up the phone and listen to what I had to say. This means more to me than a $10 drink at the bar. This in fact it shows that they truly about doing the right thing to ensure they keep a customer. You have no idea how this small act sends a message to your guests. I hope your leadership sees this to see how you truly elude unreasonable hospitality and ensuring that your customers return. My issue was not for anything other than. ensuring that others learn from the impact it could have on someone. Thank you, Cecilio Reyes, for your professionalism and attention to this situation that is now taken as a learning opportunity. I will be sure to ask for you the next time I book directly with your hotel!

If you're staying here, I would recommend not just using it as a place to sleep - try to actually indulge in all the amenities they have to offer. Did I mention the freshly baked cookies at 7 PM? Our room had a fireplace with an ocean view. We were able to enjoy our wine in our private patio and even got the cutest thermos set to take home! The breakfast in bed was delightful. It was on time and fresh. Food was just okay, but the daily special (French toast) hit the mark. Great for anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine's Day or any other celebration!

They worked with my husband to make the whole trip sooo memorable! Our room was so nice, and right on the beach. Drinking coffee in front of a warm fire with sounds and smells of the ocean coming thru the sliding glass door was sublime. They had homemade cookies in the oven for guests when we arrived. At 5pm there was a wonderful little happy hour with wine and treats. We had no idea that a homemade breakfast of our choosing would be served in the dining room, or in the privacy of our room! Crab Benedict, sausage, fruit, coffee and fresh squeezed juice! How thoughtful! We can't wait to come back again soon! You will have an excellent time, just like we did!
