9 years ago, I moved into my house and wanted to have the ducts cleaned and have a whole house HEPA filter system installed. I called The Duct Cleaning Specialist since I saw the many good reviews about them and wanted to give them a try. And I was so glad that I did. I was blown away by the honest and friendly service by Paul 9 years ago. He installed the HEPA filter system and explained everything I needed to know about running and maintaining the system. I didn't need to read the manual myself :) As for the duct cleaning, he did an inspection and actually told me that my ducts were actually quite clean and that I didn't really need the service done. Paul took pictures of at various places in the ducts and showed me. I agreed with his recommendation and skipped the duct cleaning. From that point I knew I would have to call Paul back if I ever needed duct cleaning done. Fast forward to the present, I had bathroom renovations done and at one point the entire basement was covered in drywall dust that was blown through the duct vents. I figured the ducts must be really dirty from the renovations. I used their online booking system and picked the time slot that was convenient for me. There were confirmation and reminder emails/text messages for the appointment. The day of the service, Paul arrived on time and had asked if he should do an inspection prior to starting the service. I explained that I had renovations done and was sure the duct were dirty. Paul must know something because he decided to do the inspection anyway. To my astonishment, Paul told me the same thing 9 years ago. My ducts are still pretty clean. The vents in the bathrooms had some debris from the renovations but he recommended that I just get a shop-vac and vacuum the vents myself. I called Paul to do duct cleaning twice and twice he was honest with me and said that my ducts are pretty clean. I don't know how many duct cleaning companies would do what Paul just did for me. I'm thinking ZERO! I gave Paul a tip and I said it was to help with the gas. He said he'll credit my account for next time. I joked with him, in 10 years :) Paul also checked the dryer vent as I wanted to have that cleaned too as the package. He said he always checks the dryer vent as it can be a fire hazard. Of course, he said that was pretty clean too but he did go get his agitator tool and gave my dryer vent a quick few whirls. If you need duct cleaning done, call Paul. I contacted this company after reading the positive reviews online and I am very glad I did. Paul reached out to me, explained the process and was very good with communication. The two most important factors for me when deciding to hire a company for this job was pricing and more obviously, the quality of work. They were impressive in both categories. Paul went above and beyond to accommodate and coordinate with the current tenant that was residing at the Wasaga Beach property and completed the job, provided me with pictures and an explanation of the work completed. More than that he identified some extremely important issues that needed immediate attention from the builder (this was a new build). Contacted through yelp, heard back from Paul almost right away, I had a few question so there was a bit of back and forth with emails and at one point I thought he had dropped the ball but turned out he was away (would be nice though if he had one of those "out of office" thing) Anyways, the serviceman showed up on time, prompt, courteous and wears clean uniforms and is very careful not to muddy my place (rainy day) he also explained to me some of the general upkeep I should do to maintain health is the ducts. I booked this service and was told they would arrive at 9:00 am, they showed up at 11:30 without giving us notice or warning and did not give us details about the appointment. The owner proceeded to treat me rudely over text and refused to accommodate their mistake, ultimately, declining my business. This is our third time using The Duct Cleaning Specialists - this time for our new (very old) home in Hamilton. As expected, TDCS came on time, did a great job cleaning very dirty ducts (they definitley hadn't been cleaned in years), and left no trace of being there. They also advised about a section of ducting and couple of cold air returns that were not actually connected to the system - that we didn't know about - which was very helpful. The men who did the job were pleasant, and as returning customer I received a discount (or at least I think that is why I got a discount). I can't say enough good things about this company. We were more than impressed not just with the work done but the level of professionalism of their workers. They arrived well within timeframe, made it clear what work was to be done and carried it out with minimal interruption to our family and even accounting for pets to ensure no one escaped. Their upfront and honest attitude was mostly appreciated. Being told that this work does not need to be completed for another 5 - 10 years is far more honest than most in this business. Also I was shown the work before and after and could visually see how much cleaner our HVAC system is. On the day of the cleaning, Steve showed up on time and took a good look at the job. Steve and his partner seemed really passionate about their job and took great pride in their job. They took the time to show me know to keep the system better maintained and also replaced a couple missing screws that were absent before they arrived. After we moved into our new home we discovered that our dryer vent, central vac, and ducts needed some serious cleaning. We called Paul after reading the fantastic reviews here on Homestars and were not disappointed to say the least. Paul not only cleaned our dryer vent, but pointed out that the materials used for our venting was not up to building code and was therefore a considerable fire hazard. He not only rectified the duct work, which would have cost us at least a couple of hundred dollars more, but did not charge us extra! The fantastic service did not stop there, however. A few weeks later we had our vents cleaned by his staff and we were provided with the same courteous and professional service that we had received from Paul. In addition to this, Our central vac was in very rough shape and this was cleaned out at no extra charge. From start to finish we would absolutely recommend this company.
