I cannot say enough good things about this firm, but let me try: (1) Right off the bat, their Web site is choc-full of helpful information on the process, what to expect, documents needed, training videos, etc., and their fixed-fee Services are very reasonably priced (posted on the Site for all to see). (2) Michael's phone number is prominently displayed on the site, along with an invitation to go ahead and CALL him to get started. Michael almost always answers promptly, and he is easy-to-understand on the phone. (3) Michael guided us, very calmly, through the entire process, beginning with an initial consult on the phone and then clear directions for proceeding after that. He always answered our questions promptly and thoroughly, whether by email, phone, or text. Good communication skills are definitely one of Michael's strengths. (4) Michael also has a paralegal, Jackie, who manages the back-and-forth of all the documents and other required information as their firm builds its case and moves toward a Hearing date. Jackie is thorough, very responsive, and her communications are always kind and cheerful. (5) Because Michael and his team did an excellent job of preparing us all for our Hearing with the Dallas County Probate Court, the hearing itself lasted only 10 minutes and the judge approved our request without a single "snag", all because the Duran Firm had everything all squared away and ready. Michael Duran really surprised me with his responsiveness, wisdom, integrity. My sister recently passed away and I had questions about how to proceed. Our situation was tricky because both of my parents survived my sister and are the heirs of the estate while being at odds with each other. My mother had already retained an attorney and my father needed legal assistance to keep up. I attempted to contact Michael on Sunday afternoon and, to my surprise, he responded minutes later. Over the course of a few days, Michael guided me through the advantages and disadvantages of independent and dependent administration. My mother had already filed some paperwork through her attorney. When I asked Michael to file amended paperwork in the probate court, he told me it would save our family money to go through my mother's attorney since that attorney had filed the original application. In doing so, Micheal sacrificed $1200 to $1600 (three to four hours of work) to save our family about $1000. I was seeking guardianship for an incapacitated family member and was contracted with a different attorney. The contracted attorney was slow to act and ridiculously expensive for the minimum level of focus and service received. On one occasion, a well-informed and quick answer was required.
