We entered hungry and hopeful. We left full and totally pleased that we resisted desert-not sure that was the best choice! Our server was very attentive and answered questions without letting me feel stupid (what is a butter horn?). We ordered two paninis - a Tex mex grilled chicken and a ham & cheese. You could've knocked me over with a feather. Seriously, this home spun little joint has the best burger I have had in years. The Smashburger crispy around the edges, seasoned perfectly, delicious sauce on the side, wonderful toppings, grilled onions, and jalapeños... What's left? It was perfect. Literally it was perfect!!! Our server was really sweet and the dessert was great, too. Honestly I went to get a birthday cake for myself. It was my first time here. Everyone bragged on how good the cakes are here. The German chocolate cake that was in the refrigerator was not a REAL German chocolate cake. What do I mean?? The cake itself was a dark chocolate devils food cake with icing that had pecans and coconut but it didn't have the flavor of a German chocolate cake. Use caution buy a slice and then order a fresh cake then come back to pick it up. Additionally, The caramel cake was the wrong color as well not dark enough to be considered a "caramel" cake. Beware before spending your $50. The cake was moist I'll give them that but it was NOT a German chocolate cake and the older little lady was very rude when confronting her with the facts of the wrong cake being used. read more

After a long car ride during my very first road trip and after eating consistently heavy Memphis food, this place is an oasis in every single way. The servers were so nice, always with a smile. I wasn't even upset I couldn't find espresso anywhere between Memphis and New Orleans because they were so nice and everything tasted great, even the drip coffee. Homemade brownies same day. Best Place to eat in Clarksdale, worked in the area for two weeks , and had lunch here everyday. It never disappointed.

We ate today at a fantastic restaurant in downtown Clarkdale MS (who woulda thunk). The Dutch Oven has panini's, salads, soups and plenty of other varieties to keep you pleasantly stuffed. The deserts look like State Fair winners, and they are heavenly tasting as well. The owner and wait staff are friendly, efficient and focused on customer satisfaction and cleanliness. Oddly enough, there's a lot to see in a historic Mississippi Delta town. Of course, I was moving slowly since I was stuffed with great food. Be sure to visit if you are near Clarksdale, in Memphis, or anywhere in the Northwest Delta. I promise you, you will be astounded by the quality of food and service! read more

This gem is next to the Blues Museum in downtown Clarksdale. Stopped in for light lunch and it was perfect. The decor is beautiful, clean and inviting. They had a nice lunch menu but we came for dessert and we're not disappointed. Hubby had chocolate chess pie that was so rich and delicious, I had chocolate cake that soothed my sweet craving. The Dutch Oven is the number one place the locals recommended to me. I was in Clarksdale for a week, and when I was asked where I had already been, I was consistently referred to the Dutch Oven. And, I am so sorry I didn't listen to them sooner. The poppyseed chicken sandwich on Tuesdays and Fridays, and the French silk pie everyday. I missed the poppyseed chicken, but the French silk pie more than made up for the lack of desserts in this town. The pie: My slice of French silk pie was not only generous and very filling, but it was the best slice of chocolate pie I have ever had. Each forkful of this pie was a bite of pure chocolate bliss. I also bought a two-pack of cinnamon rolls to have for breakfast the next morning, and they kept well and were slathered in a rich and creamy cream cheese icing that was not overly sweet or sticky. The service: This bakery is run by Mennonite women who offer the kindest word and service. They knew I was an outsider, and the hospitality shown was Southern hospitality at its best. The location: There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and on a sunny day like this, I recommend outdoor seating. My friends and I got there right before closing, so we opted for outdoor seating because the staff were already preparing to close. Best lunch spot in Batesville! So glad I found this on Yelp when I'm Batesville. Have told many co-workers about it.

I usually stop and eat here when I'm in town working. It's a good "lunch place". They have plate lunches or you can get a sandwich. And of course, they have lots of different types of breads and sandwiches. Oh and tons of cakes, pies, and casseroles in the freezer. If it's good weather outside, go sit on the porch out back and eat. You can smoke and not be bothered. It's a really tiny building which is always packed. read more

Really nice surprise in little ole Clarksdale ms. Was close to here working and decided to come here both days for lunch. The food is delicious, homemade, very flavorful and they have homemade desserts... in supposed to be on a diet! But I couldn't resist. First meal was a chicken, bacon, lettuce, ranch wrap with pasta salad and second meal is a turkey sandwich on a butter horn with loaded potato soup. I had pecan pie for dessert and..... well to die for! So delicious!! I definitely recommend this place. Service is great as well! We picked up a 6 pack of the Italian Cream cupcakes today ($6.50 for 6), and they are absolutely amazing. There was a huge amount of frosting on top of each cupcake but it was not overly sugary, just the perfect consistency and richness. There was a huge selection of pies and cakes in their freezers, it looked like the average price for a large cake was $24- not cheap but a very nice, large cake. There were A LOT of us there for a work event and they handled it pretty well service wise. Some people did have to wait a while but it really was a lot of us there. On October 14, 2020, I took an out of town guest here to eat. I spoke of how good the food was, how amazing and friendly, the staff are, etc. I called before coming in and the young lady who answered the phone was very rude and told me she did not have time to answer questions from me due to them being extremely busy. I went to dine-in despite of. As we walked in the restaurant, all the tables were dirty and we were told to have a seat where we liked. I was like okay, let pick a table and have them to clear it off and clean it. That took about 5 mins, so I still like okay, let's just order. As we were placing our drink order, we were informed that they had no ice, so ok, I just got a lemonade that was warm like tea and my guest got a warm Coca Cola. Waitress brought food out and nothing was even warm, food was lukecold, no warmth anywhere. I'm still like okay, silverware was very dirty. I'm still like okay. Guests came in behind us and they seemed to have magically received ice, but even after refills, we were never given ice or even asked if we wanted ice after being forced to drink lukewarm beverages. This was by far the worst experience, I have ever had at Dutch Oven. It is clear that they must be under new management or something is seriously going wrong. After, trying to eat our cold food, we just gave up and proceeded to check out at the register. Little did we know, the same rude girl that answered the phone was also working the register. At this point I was over it. I asked for management and she comes out and she has a little attitude herself. At this point, the restaurant employees were clearly functioning off of her energy level. No apology was given, she just had excuse after excuse. I informed her that I was also the Welcome Center Supervisor for Coahoma County. And my job was to advise people of restaurants to visit while in Clarksdale and I was no longer comfortable sending anybody to an establishment that treat paying customer in that type of manner. I asked the lady of management about Cody. Cody is the overall owner of The Dutch Oven and I hope this review finds his eyes. I was very embarrassed and disappointed after such bragging I did.
