The studios operate as as a collective of offices, predominantly filled with fashion designers, film companies and PR types. During the daytime and at breakfast, the restaurant serves quite a simple, but tasty menu of english breakfasts, salads, burgers, accompanied by fries and coleslaw. They also stock a large range of herbal teas, soft drinks, coffees and snacks.

My trip was for the Festival of Marketing, a marketing conference with over 200 speakers and 12 'stages'. Tobacco Dock is a really lovely building and gives a striking first impression, with a cobbled floor and tall ships (the latter of which also provides a great photo opportunity!) The space was good for the conference as there was plenty of flexibility in terms of the stages, which were split into the likes of social, data & analytics, and B2B. Between these are large spaces, which were filled with some catering, company stalls, and some sponsored 'break out' rooms. As others have mentioned, due to the warehouse nature of Tobacco Dock, it can get really cold and there are some uncovered areas to avoid if raining. Toilets were the main bone of contention among delegates - not only aren't there many of them, but lots were out of service and not cleaned to an acceptable standard. Plug sockets are also a bit of an issue; presumably because it's not always for formal conferences, power is only brought in for laptops and the like, so you have little to no chance of charging your phone! Shadwell station is about a 15 minute walk away, connecting you to both underground and DLR services, so easily accessible.

It can be hard to judge a venue when you have a good time with your colleagues at the event you attend. But I'm fortunately able to separate the amazing time I had with nice colleagues and friends from the "crappy" organization at the venue. Tobacco Dock is clearly NOT a great spot to hold big meetings and conferences in the winter! About 16-19°C in the rooms; NOT enough and the heating systems put in place did not change anything. The space would fit better for a weekly summer market or a festival for example. The docks are reachable via DLR (Shadwell) and I have to say that this district (East London) is not one of the most "safe places" I have seen in London. To conclude, I would never recommend this event space unless for a summer event. I'm sure your company's money can be better spent somewhere else in London!

The ladies restroom, and that's a problem, especially when it impacts a 3000+ attendee, multi day event. The restroom door swings in, guaranteed to hit anyone waiting for one of the handful of stalls inside. The hand dryer is located directly outside the stall closest to the door. Worst case scenario, a person is drying their hands and gets bumped from one side by someone trying to exit the far stall and sandwiched by another someone waiting in line who's just been shoved forward by someone else trying to open the entry door. Aside from the ladies bathroom design fiasco, the space itself was adequate for the event, on site food was decent, and public transportation as well as lodging are conveniently located.

The BDC is a really spacious venue, but can be a little touch and go. I've been to a couple of…read morewine shows here that have been amazing, really taking advantage of the tiered leveling and space, and I've heard stories about events that crammed too much into too little and they fell short, so I guess it'll depend on who's organizing what you're going to! I think it suits well for smaller and medium sized shows, but the centre itself is in a great location on Upper St, allowing for some great places to meet & mingle before and after your conference. There's also some hotel accommodations nearby if you're just in for the occasion. I was quite impressed with the potential of the BDC, and have had some great times here! It's got a good range from professional-to-social gatherings.

Sunday Roast was on my to do list and after traveling from the country side via train and tube from…read moreOxfordshire with suitcase and delays, I was delighted to find this cute pub next to my hotel. The service was friendly and I met the owner Sharon and we had a lovely chat. My roast arrived and it was just the meal I needed. Roast beef smothered in brown gravy, veggies cooked to perfection, and Yorkshire pudding (a light delicate bread) and I washed it down with a Diet Coke. Truly such savory meal that didn't feel heavy at all. With that fuel I hoped on thr tube and explored London. Priced fairly and a space with a rich musical history, I'd gladly be a water rat again!

The place had a nice, spacious vibe, and since it was really early, we pretty much had it all to ourselves. But what really made it special was what we found out afterward-- Here's the cool part: there's been a public house on this site for over 500 years! The current building was put up in 1878. It was a regular hangout for none other than Karl Marx and Lenin--how wild is that? The walls are covered with photos of famous performers who've been there, along with images from the Grand Order of Water Rats. The whole place just feels rich with history--both old and more recent. The pub was bought in 1986 by the Grand Order of Water Rats, a showbiz charity whose members have included legends like Charlie Chaplin, and currently, Rick Wakeman. Even cooler--it's where Bob Dylan played his first-ever UK gig back in the 1960s. Since then, it's hosted the London debuts of bands like The Pogues and Oasis. And in this tiny back room, they've had live performances by major international stars, including Katy Perry.

This is an excellent meeting venue, a short walk from Baker Street tube station. The chairs, tables, stage and equipment could do with a bit of updating, I look in the local newspaper quite regularly to see what is going on there, if it had more things to do or go and see there I would definately go. It is next to the Impulse leisure centre in the north side of Grays. I had to phone up the local council to get tickets for the show, the help on the phone was very good and tickets arrived at my house quickly.

Recently opened, it's located at the Tobacco Dock, which is a little bit out of the way from the popular areas of town. The easiest way is to walk from the Tower tube station, although be ready to get slightly lost. Once you enter, follow the signs to the top of the dock, and you'll find yourself at this cozy location. They have a good selection of beer and drinks, with outdoor seating and TVs available. What's great is that their alcohol isn't too expensive either. They stream all big matches, including the World Cup recently. They also take all forms of card, which is great. Furthermore, they have outdoor games, such as pétanque. It's definitely a place that I was happy to stumble upon, and would recommend it to anyone visiting London, especially for people in their 20's. One Great George Street (OGGS) is a four-domed grade II listed Edwardian building used as a conference and wedding venue just off Parliament Square in Westminster, London, England. The building is the global headquarters of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE); it was originally soley a venue for ICE members to relax, meet and have conferences but became available for public events in 1989. It is near the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and St James's Park.

I was only in the building for a bit - I attended a talk between the head of Comedy at Sky and…read moreArmando Iannucci - but the interior is grand and gorgeous, and the lecture theatre used for the talk was a great size, and very clean and tidy. There were water coolers and cups in the hallway we waited in, and the bar looked good however I did not visit it after the talk. The rest room was in great condition as well. I'm afraid there's not much more I can say, but my time there was comfortable and I am sure it is a great venue for events and talks!
