Colleen is a fantastic stylist. I've seen her for a few years now, and decided to stop fighting my 30% grey roots on dark box died hair every 2-3 weeks. We chatted a fair bit about what I was hoping to achieve, she was realistic and well informed. I'm super happy with the outcome of a head full of baby lights and demi. In almost secluded but easy accessible location at the mid edge of downtown. Parking available at the back for free or paid street parking. A house of wonder and style. Very edgy and design trendy for a hair salon. I go to Teresa who I met through my sister in law. Great, friendly and professional. Always accommodating and reasonably priced service. I live on the edge of the south side of Edmonton but it's worth the trip. Normally works Thur to Sat. But may very in dates depending on the time. Better to book ahead. read more

Awesome gave me a really good haircut and really nice and a cool retro style place good location

My experience as a first-time client at the Edge salon was terrible. I went in for hair extensions and chose this salon because of a good review from a coworker who's known the owner for 15 years. I paid $580 for the hair extensions, color and installation. I tipped my stylist Nikki $80. The hair (Babe brand) was promised to last 3-6 months. Upon install, my extensions were great. I got a combination of Tape-Ins for the back and I-Tips for the sides. My one complaint at the time was that the color was bad, the ombre Nikki applied was quite patchy in places and the hair strands were not colored to the root. This was really noticeable when my own hair parted and exposed the extension. About a week after install, the I-Tips began falling out. Over the duration of a month, 15 I-Tips fell out pulling quite a bit of my own hair out. At this point I noticed that the right side of my hair was 1.5 inches shorter than the left. I attribute this to happening when Nikki trimmed the extensions, along with my hair, during install. Also over the duration of the month, I noticed the quality of the hair deteriorated quite drastically despite me taking good care of it. I washed it with the recommended shampoo/conditioner, brushed it carefully, braided it at night, etc. After only a month, the hair felt like straw and was extremely frizzy and dry. It started to tangle and break. I booked an appointment to remove the extensions and resolve these issues. After the extensions were removed, it was quite evident that my hair was shorter on the right side and also along the back. Nikki did not take responsibility for the length difference saying the I-Tips must have pulled out my hair when they fell out. In reality, I did not have I-Tips installed in places where my hair was shorter. I spoke with Nikki and the owner of the salon, Colleen, regarding the hair quality and they both held me liable for damaging the hair. They refused to refund me money for the hair despite claiming it would last 3-6 month with regular use. Colleen accused me of having buyer's remorse and asked me to leave the salon. Overall, I was not happy with my experience at the Edge and with Babe brand hair extensions. The salon did not take any responsibility for damaging my hair and owing up to the poor quality of hair extensions. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I have been searching high and low for a top quality salon that I love, in Edmonton. I have finally (finally!!!) found one. I ended up at The Edge after a botched cut and foil job - and I mean BOTCHED. I don't usually cry when it comes to my hair, but my locks were ohhh so bad I was near tears. I decided I would give this place a try (heck, my situation couldn't get any worse); it had good reviews, a great website, and an aesthetic appeal. After chatting on the phone about my situation, Colleen fit me in that day to fix my cut and consult regarding my colour. I was pleasantly surprised when she didn't charge me to blend my horrid layers and could fit me in the following day to fix my colour. In the end, everything turned out amazing!! I'm still not back to perfect, but another visit or two and my horrible botch job will be a thing of the past!! Colleen listened to what I wanted, explained what she was going to do, and explicitly showed me the end product and explained the next steps!! Woo hoo!! I even left with sexy beach waves that weren't "over curled". At no point in my life did I ever think I'd look forward to a trip to the salon, since a haircut usually entailed 45 minutes of awkward small talk and a mediocre cut to top it off (literally). When you're sitting in the chair, it can seem like an eternity when you have no personal connection to your stylist and can't express what you want in your haircut. Did I ever luck out when I found Elias (that's pronounced ih-LEE-ah) and his salon. These dudes know what's up; the place has great vibes in the heart of Downtown and consistently great tunes. Chatting life with Elias is something I actually look forward to every six weeks now. Not to mention, I'm getting the best cuts of my life! Not just from the minute I leave, but they actually grow out properly too, something I've truly never experienced until now (see my profile pic for an example of my hair at two weeks after an Edge cut). Elias has insane attention to detail and he won't let you leave until he's happy (and you're happy) with the cut. Same goes for all the other stylists who are always super friendly. Let them do their magic, but they're open to your input as well. Don't waste your time and money anywhere else. In fact, I almost selfishly want this place to remain a hidden gem. But they deserve more customers. They do amazing women's cuts and colours from what I've seen, but men should definitely get in here and get a cut that's not the average, unblended cut most dudes seem to be walking around with. read more

It was a beautiful Saturday morning, August 11th, and although it was supposed to rain, the sky was filled with harmless puffy white clouds. It was my wedding day. When I arrived at The Edge Style Council for a hair do, the experience was beyond the usual "good" customer service we all come to expect. Elias brought me coffee and while Colleen did my hair (see my photos on Facebook) exactly the way I wanted it, flowy and romantic with perfect curl and volume, Elias, co-owner and husband to Colleen, shared with me his own wedding day story. A great experience is all in the details. The little jeweled bobby pins that crowned my head with just enough sparkle to make me feel like a beautiful bride were mine to keep and Colleen even offered flowers from their front garden when I confessed I hadn't figured out what to do for a bouquet yet. (It was a wonderful wedding pulled together in less than a week) Even if it's not your wedding day, count on the personalized service that has stylists remembering your name, your preferences, and details about your life. This salon has been around for decades and I'm sure it's because they build personal relationships with their clients. They also seem to have an endless collection of awesome tunes and a very modern feel to their salon. If Elias and Colleen are reading this, sorry it took me so long to write this review, as promised. I was in Edmonton for a layover and this little gem of a family rock'n'roll salon was walking distance from my hotel. When I called for an appointment I was immediately charmed by the kindness and it just kept on giving. Great vibe combined with awesome service, great music and just a bunch of lovely people. This is really as good as it gets. I've been going to The Edge Style Council for about a year and ever time I leave I feel like a million bucks. I can't stop looking at myself and touching my hair. Quite honestly, I can't believe it's me. Due to my poor genetics (for hair), I did not receive the full, thick, head of luscious hair that we all dream of but with Colleen's expertise and help, I leave there as if I did. She puts in 2 packs of Babe tape in hair extensions and it changes everything (not to mention the amazing head massage during the shampoo). They are very easy to maintain and style daily. I wash my hair twice a week and gently tie in back when I sleep. Super easy! The color is an identical match to my natural hair and the length and volume is so natural. On Saturday, I put in my 3rd set in over a year and once again my hair is gorgeous...I've never been one to refer to my hair in that way. I highly recommend this service at The Edge Style Council - you will not be disappointed, only confident, beautiful, and very satisfied. read more
