My Dad had Stage 4 Lung Cancer had been through 2 Rounds of Chemotherapy, it shrank the Lung a little, but then he became resistant to the platinum in the chemotherapy... :( In January the Lung Cancer had spread to the Brain and they immediately did Radiation of both the Lung and the Brain. Also around January he Fractured his Rib and had Pneumonia. He had a Month off after Radiation and had 2 Doses of Immunotherapy about maybe 4-6 weeks ago. He had alot of the Symptoms that typically come with Immunotherapy. He had on and off Neuropathy, had 2 Falls, had some kind of Infection/Fever, had low blood pressure, has AFIB, was in the ICU on March 22nd for about 10 days ago...Some Medications they gave him in the ICU gave him Diabetes, due to possibly the steroids... Unfortunately the Lung was Stable, but the Brain Cancer had come back. He seemed to be doing almost better in the Hospital. He had been in Rehab at Sunny Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for about 2 weeks. He had a Private Room which was really nice The 2 weeks in Rehab He had been wicked Fatigued, Weak, Had Barely been Eating and Swallowing - I really wish they could have helped him eat, at Home and in the Hospital hed wake up late, order something. At the Hospital he said he loved the Pancakes. Hed eat a few bites, but in the Rehab he was on a soft food diet, had a little Ice Cream, would have water, was trying to eat. I did notice theyd serve a Full Plate and it just wouldn't appeal to him, wasnt what he liked at all or would necessarily eat. And they would come in and serve breakfast early in the morning. But he was the type that would sleep in late, he was never the type that would wake up at 7am to Eat Breakfast. My few Suggestions would be 1.) Try and Accomodate what People would want to Eat 2) And Accomodate at what time they like to Eat We were hoping hed get stronger, and that he could get help walking. But, they had to put him on a Medication to hopefully Increase Appetite, he definitely lost grip, and his voice was off, he had something called Thrush... He couldnt be in Treatment or get more Immunotherapy b/c he was wicked weak. We were going to try and get him Home on Monday April 11th. Then On April 7th he experienced Low Oxygen and he Needed Oxygen On April 8th They had him on Morphine and Oxygen and he died Friday Evening April 8th around 6:30pm/7pm with me and my Aunt Holding his Hand and my Mom Lovingly By His Side... My Mom thought the Staff was really nice to her.

Not only did She detect issues that the doctors were not pointing out, Brittany was able to come up with effective solutions to soothe or make the problems go away completely. Unfairly she wasn't able to begin working on my broken foot until months after my crucial injury. I'm sure if she was my first P.T we would have definitely had better results and understanding about the real problems sooner. Overall Brittany's professionalism even rubs off on her interns who I thought already graduated and were working as full time P.Ts. He was still waiting and the call bell was still ringing! There was many days when no rehab PT or OT would show up. He would go to group exercises classes but he was not independent in movement both lower extremities ! The head nurse was nice, the greeters were friendly. The Dr assist was kind and good. The nurse on main floor have too many patients for good care.

His muscles were breaking down from non mobility. ( he's in his 80's) He was sent to a rehabilitation facility for PT , rest and what have you . It didn't go well ! He ended up signing himself out' because the care wasn't very good . Needless to say he ended up back in the hospital. The hospital recommended that he go to a rehabilitation facility for Physical Therapy and care . He refused to go back to the previous facility. Thankfully he didn't !!!!!! He was sent to a place called Hathrone Hill in Danvers Ma . If I could give this facility 10 Stars I would! From the first time I went to visit to the day he was released, I was impressed! You are greeted by friendly and informative staff. They show you how to check in and give directions to the room . As my husband and I went to the elevator we noticed how clean everything was. We also noticed the PT areas and activity areas were also very well maintained. We made over way to our friend room and dinner was being served. OMG ! It looked , smelt and from what he said , tasted delicious. ( the other facility's food wasn't even close to being that good ). I don't think it's appropriate to name them as I don't write bad reviews. Hathrone Hill is worth writing about. I think it's hard enough to see a family or friend going through medical issues. So having a place you feel comfortable with is a major stress relief ! I waited until my friend was released to write this because truthfully I was ready to write this review from day one ! I waited until he was released because I felt that I needed to write a review of this importants , that was not just the first impression but also the last! My grandfather came…read morehere, was put in a temporary rehab room (where they're renovating to make it look nice) It was fine. He was then moved up to a long-term rehab unit. I could talk about the lack of care, and the filth from this unit, but I'll skip over that. I visited him almost everyday, getting him the things he needed since the nurses never did, and noticed an immediate, immense decline by day 2 of being in long-term. We thankfully moved him to a better facility, and come to find out, they had put him on a medication he did not need and had never taken in his life, which was making him into a zombie. He said this himself as well. It sucked the life out of him rapidly. Nobody had notified us of this new medication. The new nurses at the new facility agreed he shouldn't be on it and took him off immediately, and he's back to his normal self. We also found out that there had been inappropriate relations from a nurse/nurse aide. Despicable. If your loved one is here, ask for an updated med list. If they're not here, that's a blessing.
