Opportunities day treatment sucks. One time I was suffering a nervous breakdown in the program. I told them what was going on with me and they sent me to this empty room. I was crying hysterically and waited and waited for somebody to come talk to me but nobody came. When I was able to calm down I finally left and went back to the main area and the director bitched at me for leaving the room without permission. I later found out that was the tantrum room they put me in where they put people with poor social skills when they throw a tantrum. I ended up having to go into the hospital. I gave the Edinburgh center 2 stars but opportunities day treatment in of itself definitely gets 1 star. read more

Staff pay more attention to a slug crawling on a wall than me. They totally insult me by calling me "stupid" and "incompetent" while at the same time expect me to do everything myself without any assistance whatsoever. Total lack of communication and competence towards anyone but each other. It appears seeing me is a chore for staff. I can and have gotten better results talking to the rear end of a 1980 Pontiac phenoix to put it bluntly, and I didn't need to drag anyone else into it either. I just literally shoved that one, much like I would like to do with the way I get treated and even have had the staff STEAL from MY disability check to give money to another CLIENT!!! I wanted to come on this platform to express a huge concern about this company. I have only worked here for four months and within the four months, a HIPPA violation concern was brought up with a discrimination encounter in regard to me. I will explain the situation and then go into how it was handled by HR. I told my director at the time about the diagnosis. This concerned me and when I brought up the situation to her, she tried to ignore the question within the email and when meeting in person explained how she only told two people (my supervisor and an old boss). Now a couple of months have gone by, and I have a situation with a client that made me feel uncomfortable. I reported my concern to this same boss, and she wasn't concerned at all. By the way, the legist of the conversation was about my safety as a black woman around this client (the Director is white). So, I brought up the situation with HR and they stated they would investigate it (I gave them information proving my concerns). After meeting individually with both parties, the director was let go. Now I don't think the head of HR and the head director of the ABA department were able to coordinate their emails well, but the first email was the boss was let go and the second email was HR stating how they couldn't find evidence to prove my concerns. How can the woman be fired if my concerns were not proven? So, did they fire her under false allegations? So, I emailed back requesting a copy of the investigation and my concerns about how they stated my evidence was not proven and lied by still firing my old boss. When I pointed this out to them HR ignored my email and when I pointed out the ignorance HR replied (quickly back) by stating they were not ignoring me and still didn't understand my concerns. So, when I replied letting them know I would have to go to external resources HR had an instant message stating they were out till after the holiday (how convenient for them). So now I'm putting this on this platform to warn everyone who is for Black Lives Matter and wants to work for this company DO NOT support them in any way. Their fake "wokeness" appears on their site as a way of gaining financial support from financial donors and appearing to be part of a community they still use racist agendas towards. Writing about my unfortunate experience as a landlord, working with the Edinburg Center to house someone who started off as high functioning but whose mental capabilities declined rapidly, it's really very sad. People like this need more care than just a visit once a week (or month). Tried bringing this up to the Edinburg Center repeatedly but just got radio silence or minced replies. Will not be renewing the lease in hopes that the patient can get the care they deserve. read more

This organization employs many inept staff - most of whom lack even common sense. Everyone of I have been in contact with stereotyped me worse than those outside the mental health field. It's obvious they thought I was beneath them. I asked for assistance with finding an apartment on my section 8. Their suggestions for apartments were ALL crime-ridden dumps. A place where none of them would live, but in their minds that was good enough for me. Additionally I was lied to so many times I can't come up with a number. This organization needs a major overhaul and then oversight and frequent auditing. In the meantime they are not held responsible for anything, they lie and lie for each other. This is very concerning and unsafe for a client. I will not recommend getting help from them. I will recommend doing a 180 and to keep moving in that direction. read more

Oh, and I totally forgot the staff that said if Phil says he will do something, expect him not to do it. His assistant, after a meeting with DMH, told me she and Phil had spoke about his forgetfulness. After DMH came to see me days after arriving, Phil was rushing out and i figuratively grabbed him knowing he couldn't not talk to me with two DMH staffers as witness. I told him it had been almost a week since he said he would speak with me the next day about something I considered important. That was on a Monday. It was Friday afternoon, he was leaving for the day. Never spoke to me. The first day I got there I was told there would be a fired department mandated fire drill that afternoon. I was there a month. Never happened. And Phil had the audacity to say he did a lot for me. Even with a DMH supervisor as a witness, he still never did the things he said he would do, read more

I have received excellent treatment from the Edinburg Center. My social worker and service providers listen to me and take what I have to say into account. They respect that my treatment is run by me and support my empowerment. If mistakes are made, staff takes responsibility for their actions and makes them right. This fosters an environment where it is safe for me to also be accountable for my actions. If you have Department of Mental Health services I would recommend asking to be placed at Edinburg Center. read more

If they see you as high functioning and/or see you can do tasks on your own, they'll legit forget about you. Three. Different. Times they forgot about me. They say they want to help, it is their job, then forget. Rely to much on email as a reminder you exist. Plus, it is the client, not them. They stick up for their own. read more
