Open windows, live music, $5 pints and an unrivaled whiskey list. The loveliness of this place can't be denied. After a long day of working, unwinding with some friends over a pint here is great. Leaving before your friends start scatting along with the live Jazz is ideal. PEPPER POINTS for their regular menu coming this fall! Can't wait.

The ever rotating taps at the Emmet.

The draft list is Toronto-area only but the whisk(e)y selection is world-wide! The new menu is comfort-meets-fancy and very tasty! Also the bar DOES take credit and debit.

Came here to celebrate my birthday on Saturday night. Arrived at 11pm and the bar was full. We stood around the bar area and were able to grab a couple of tables as they opened up. Great music (soul, funk, hip hop and old school) and good vibe. I didn't pay for any drinks so I'm not too sure about the prices but had a friend comment that he had paid $13 for a pint of beer and 2 shots of jäger. I had a great time and would recommend this spot for a group of friends looking for a fun bar with good music on a Saturday night. Not really a dance spot though since they haven't got the space for it. Also it's cash only.

    Good.

We came for the amazing whiskey selection, and left *so* happy with the level of service, live music and food at the Emmett Ray.

Note there's a coverage charge for this jazz section to be $15. I believe the next performance is about $25 around 7:30ish. This spot is pretty vibey and would work well as a date spot. Note: the views we got as a group of 8 is not that great Music was good as well and I noticed several servers went up to sing(not sure if singing is a hiring requirement but they're pretty good). We ordered tequila shots and some cocktails. I noticed the cocktails were pretty strong! They def did not skimp out on their liquor.

We arrived on time for our reservation and were reminded about the $20 per person cover charge, which was fine by me since it goes directly to the musicians. We were shown to a table that was very close to the stage, which was cool, but the way the table was placed meant that my back was to the stage, which meant I had to keep craning my neck to get a decent view. It was uncomfortable, to say the least. Add to that the extremely loud music and a lack of proper air conditioning and I was just suffering in my seat. But I was trying to be a trooper about it, so I ordered a Manhattan. The drink was pretty decent, but I was just so hot and so uncomfortable that finally I threw up my arms and requested the cheque. Our waiter was very apologetic but we were charged the full cover, which meant that with the drink and tip the bill came out to $77. $77 for a 26 minute experience is a little ludicrous. I can't say I'll ever return. One thing I'll say is that there's a reason jazz clubs usually have round tables. It's so unpleasant to have the band at your back, and I'm shocked that's the layout they're going with.

First off, I was both mesmerized and intrigued by the name, all embodying things I love and enjoy dearly - poetry, jazz, and a charming cafe. Nestled on a busy street in Toronto, this was the perfect way to end a wonderful night celebrating my birthday. On a Thursday night, to my surprise and benefit, it just so happened that The Bentley Collective was on schedule for entertainment. Everything was smooth, peaceful, enjoyable, and delightful. Not a negative vibe was there to be found. I did not try the food (I was already stuffed from an earlier dinner), but I did partake in a delicious "Poetry Lychee Martini". In fact, I had about 3 of them - I happened to be sitting directly next to my birthday twin. She was a local who frequented the establishment and welcomed me with a warm greeting and birthday cocktails for both of us. How generous and kind! The live music was chef's kiss. The crowd was calm and collected. Great time all around. I look forward to stopping by again!!!

Very nondescript outside facade - no sign telling you what it is other than a small "BSC" (for Bovine Sex Club) painted near the door. Hard to miss though as the exterior is made up a punk rock style sculpture of rusted bikes & other assorted ephemera. The interior is similar, visually. Great sound system & chill vibes pervade throughout. Weirdly the stage is right in the entrance of the club, on your left, with a long bar along the right side, heading back. Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. Bring cash though, unless you're looking to make some big orders, because credit card is a minimum fifty-dollar spend.
