There are maybe half a dozen pubs to choose from in Eynsham--most are fine, one or two not so much. But the Queens Head pub stands alone. It's got the best pub food by far and the friendliest service. Even though it's definitely a favourite of the local crowd, I was made to feel more than welcome as a visiting Canadian. This is the second time I've waited more than 30 minutes for a starter. The scallops were very good, served hot and the shellfish was nicely presented. It took more than an hour for the main course. Either the chef was overrun or didn't care. Chef's red wine gravy was very good and so easy the beef. I later learned that the head chef had quit and they were forced to use agency staff. Roast veg was underdone, Yorkshire puddings were overdone. I get the impression that this meal was rushed through preparation. Sorry lads, you really need to pull your finger out on Sunday lunches. The pub is not 'rammed' and there's absolutely no excuse if you're charging the full rate. Try here on any other day and it's fine. You will enjoy the food, but I'd avoid Sundays like a boy band member avoids a self-assessment demand from the HMRC.

The first time I ate here I got the fish and chips (because as an American visiting England I'm unoriginal) and it was fantastic. Crisp and flavorful breading and the chips were delicious as only thick fresh fried potato can be. The next time I was there I got a steak and ale pie because there's a special so that on Tuesday a pie comes with a free drink. When I cut open the pie, hot, delicious juices flowed onto the plate. I booked early and we arrived in good time. The pub/restaurant/hotel is nicely appointed, pleasant staff and it's a free house which means plenty of local brews and guest draughts. We all opted for the roast beef and were very happy with the food which was served. The beef was excellent along with crunchy and fluffy roasters - served along with a meddle of summer veg. Overall this is not a "budget" establishment, but the food was very good. They also had the outdoor barbecue available for those who wanted something different. Plenty of choices, prepared and served thoughtfully and not too "cheffy" if you have fussy members in your party. We got the impression that this place does get very busy and I'd recommend you book ahead, early. They'll even send you a meeting request so you don't forget. Nice touch! My only hope is that the enormous housing estate at Enysham won't make it impossible to get a table in future. Highly recommended.

There was no advanced warning about this. ** Shampoo/conditioner are 1, not separate and there's no body lotion. ** No elevators for those who have heavy luggage or trouble with stairs. ** Sink was 1 hot faucet 1 cold faucet; I like vintage things...but not like that. ** No A/C or fan control in the room ** No fridge or water in room ** Room wasn't cleaned til about 5pm. POOR AMENITIES: - The fitness center not open until 6:30am and is very very bare bones at best. - Restaurant service was not friendly at all - neither for breakfast or dinner service, and there's no grocery store / restaurant or anything nearby. TLDR: While the sheep are nice, and it's peaceful, the terrible room and rude service, I won't be back and WOULD NOT recommend staying here.
