Do not buy or service your fireplace through them. Horrible customer service. They charge $200 for a service call 2 months away. After the guy "fixed" our fireplace, our logs crumbled after a few days, rendering our fireplace completely unusable until we could get new logs (which cost $700) and took over 6 months to arrive. Even after new logs, our fireplace wouldn't work. Because it was more than 90 days after the service tech came out, they want another $200 and 2 more months wait for a tech to look at it. Service rep is rude, and none of their employees communicate. We're over $900 and almost a year into this thing and all we are left with is frustration and and a non-working fireplace. Take your money elsewhere. read more

Absolutely terrible to deal with. Unknowledgeable sales staff and terrible service. I dealt with the McKnight store location. This is my second fireplace I bought from them - definitely my last from them. I will buy from anyone but them. The company used to be decent and knowledgeable. However, now they are unknowledgeable and terrible to deal with. First, the sales people don't know what they are doing - I had to call Heat and Glow directly for installation answers about the venting. Second, when you order parts from them they don't let you know when the parts came in AND you have to constantly call them to double check if the part may have come in. Third, they don't keep records of what you bought from them - make sure you keep good records and can read the manuals. Fourth, although they have a service - they are out like 2 months for a service check-up. The direct-vent fireplaces are expensive so go to another fireplace store instead - you can't get any worse service from them. I will NEVER buy another thing from them. read more

We requested a service call because our gas fireplace would turn off intermittently. They said that since the unit was over 15 years old they refused to check it, but we were told about a $200 coupon we could use to purchase a new one. We then contacted Ferguson Free Energy in Mars and even though we're in Kennedy township they came out. Gary, the owner, is professional, courteous, knowledgeable and most of all honest. We explained the issue and he diagnosed the problem immediately as a minor faulty electrical connection. He vacuumed and cleaned the unit and fixed the connection. All for the cost of the service call. It's refreshing to deal with a reliable and HONEST company. read more

I dealt with the Cranberry location, though I'd expect similar results from whichever location I worked with. I had a vent-less gas fireplace installed over two years ago & I just wanted to remark that it's been very good. I began the process before I moved to the PGH area by searching for such a company. I put in an offer on a house & knew I wanted a fireplace, if it was feasible to do. I called weeks in advance & set-up an appointment for a site inspection. They were very nice in accommodating my scheduled time in PGH as I was also having other estimates done in a short time span for carpet, HVAC work & a radon gas eliminator. Anyway, the technician determined they could do it & made his notes. Back in VA, I re-called & told them a date I needed for installation during my next trip up to coincide with the closing. Again, they were very accommodating to my schedule. I also had to decide what I wanted without ever setting foot in one of their shops. They directed me to their website where I could see the options. It was a bit more involved than I had anticipated, but it was nice to have different styles & finishes available to select from. As scheduled, they came the day before the carpet installers. A plumber ran a gas line to the back of the connection juncture & the installers put in the hearth, mantle & fireplace. They gave me a quick tutorial on using the remote controller I selected. Everything went well & has pretty much ever since. One note - the remote system uses a lot of batteries; 8 AA in the unit & 3 AAA in the remote & they need replaced more often than I anticipated. But it is nice to be able to control it like a TV, from your chair. read more

We were in there today looking for a gas fireplace for a new house. We were totally underwhelmed by the sales staff. The lady we spoke with seemed totally uninterested in what we wanted, appeared condescending, and was only interested in giving us a grossly over-priced quote for the product. After we left and told our son-in-law we went there, he said don't waste our time as they are hard to deal with, very high-priced and we could do much better elsewhere. read more
