As we stood in the streets of Halifax one of us mentioned ice cream and one of the other of us looked up from our phones to see COWS about 75 feet away from us. It was purely accidental, I swear. Then again, if fate deals you a good hand, you take it. This COWS location is located along the waterfront in a large, expansive area of shops and restaurants, and vendors. Inside this place is awesome. I'm going to guess there we well over 30 flavors of ice cream, each one calling my name. The names of their ice cream flavours are funny/whimsical/appropriate. Things like Lemoon lime bar, Cownadian Maple, and Cookie Moonster...you get the drift. A lot of cow-based inspiration. My ice cream of choice was Coffee...and it was SOOOO good. Then there's the merchandise. Aisles and Rows of shirts, hoodies, sweaters, socks, jackets, hats...the list goes on. So Many T-shirts with cow-related puns, and all so fun. The staff at COWS appear to enjoy their jobs and they have fun while working. And why not? It's a fun, relaxed atmosphere and you're surrounded by ice cream!

The front was run with teenagers who had the endless smiles on their faces, when they saw the birthday boy- they all wished happy birthday with such excitement willing to have fun. When he birthday boy just ordered gummy bears- she's like you want one scoop, then asked again- she was so nice piling four scoops of gummy bears and even offered a waffle bowl because the ice cream was melting. The location was huddle and bustle- they also weigh all the orders here to ensure they hit the size requirement for "size."

The house coffee, T52, was very tasty. The shopkeeper introduced it to me as the "special double double," but I'd say it's the usual Korean milk coffee. It was creamy, pleasantly sweet, but not too sweet like the actual double-double. The matcha custard taiyaki was the star of all of these - the outer layer was super crispy (it even had some pieces fall off as the "chips," which I could use to dip the whipped cream and chocolate sauce on the plate). The taiyaki cake itself was just perfect. It was crispy on the outside but super soft and creamy inside, and very fresh and hot. The custard was sweet, comforting and delicious, which was perfectly paired with the outer buttery skin. I don't think anything else could beat this combo as the perfect breakfast. We got to sample a lot of flavours until I decided on hazelnut and lemon and my wife on Hazelnut and Rose! The store is located in the Halifax Shopping Centre which is a mall and I understand some people aren't fans of that. I myself love malls and walking around. In my teenage years I was proud to call myself a "Mall-rat." But the Halifax Shopping Centre has some unique stores that make this a unique mall experience. And one of the best examples is Rocky Mountain Chocolate. This is a candy and chocolate store like no other. And good news for people who have Diabetes. They have an entire, "no sugar added" selection so you won't be stuck watching your friends enjoy their guilty pleasures. You can join in to ;). I feel compelled to talk about the Caramel Apples. Not because I like Apples. In fact, I hate them. I like the taste but hate the texture. However, if I mention Rocky Mountain Chocolate to anyone the first thing they say is, "the apples are so amazing!" So if you like Apples, check them out. They have the classic Caramel Apple but have a lot more than that. Try M&M chocolate chip Caramel Apple for example. I am a fan of fudge and ice cream. One thing I learned from the last time I was at the store was they make their own specialty ice cream. So you cannot get it anywhere else but at a Rocky Mountain Chocolate store. And trust me when I say, it is really good ice cream. And of course their fudge and chocolate selection is fantastic. I LOVE the packets of caramel, I like the cookies coated in icing and candy, I find the combinations for the chocolates to be way to blah, and the ice cream flavors usually taste freezer burnt. I joined their member card, just cuz I was on a caramel binge! its a cool idea, to bad I've only used it once or twice.. Some people mention how great it smells, I dont enjoy the smell... it smells like burning over processed chocolate and sugar... Add the smell of less then wonderful product with the extreme price tags on many of the items... Im not a fan... its ok if I wanna have a binge on something sweet and am at the mall! (though i'd usually go down the hall to DQ)
