Was a shame that it was placed behind a sign reading "chicken croissant." My kebab was supposed to be chicken but I honestly believe it was something else. It was pink & filled with gristle/bone and a lot of fat, which I could still taste it in my mouth an hour after eating it. Was a real shame having such a bad result from this bakery, especially after seeing the awards on the window.

An adept craftsman makes these pies. The pie doesn't fall apart upon being consumed nor is the pastry so tough that the filling squirts out. Just right. Biting into the pie shows it to be at the ideal temperature to scoff. The cheese is cheddar with just the right amount so as not to all run out and enough to flavour ones steak and cheese experience in every delectable bite. The gravy has the right balance of seasoning and meat filling which compliments the tender pastries of the upper and lower portion of the pie. At $3.50NZD, this is a very impressive pie. I also buy their potato top pie, sausage rolls, raspberry or choc Lavington with fresh cream and also their Apple turnovers. All are made on site. The Edinburgh Dairy on the corner of Edinburgh and Cape Hill Road purchases the pastries to sell in their establishment. Now that's saying something because the Edinburgh Dairy makes their own pies and muffins! Millbrooks is the bomb! The Princes St Superette in Pukekohe North sells the Bacon and Egg pies and baked pastries from Millbrooks as well. Love this food. Well made and very tasty. I've eaten the steak and cheese pies from all the bakeries here in Pukekohe. It's a wonder that I don't have type 2 diabetes and I'm not morbidly obese! Highly recommended.

The pastry that surrounds the hot deductible filling was buttery, flaky, delicious (evil). And the inside, creamy thick gravy, chunks of chicken, oozy cheese and a thin layer of cranberry. So so good. Words can't describe. I tasted my friends chicken cream cheese mushroom, even richer and more delicious. My second day, got the pepper beef, yum! Wished I had catsup for that one! Tasted friends egg and bacon, omg. Why don't we have these in the states? There are multiple bakeries in all these little towns that make them. Even the gas stations have them (it's rumored that they are just as good). Tomorrow the plan is to try chicken curry pie! Can not wait. The Boston Bakery (for which I have no idea why it is named after a city in the States!), is quite unassuming and from the outside isn't very distinguishable from any other old school bakery. Except that first of all the family that run it are the loveliest people and if you're lucky their little super adorable daughter will run the EFTPOS machine for your purchase. They also cherish their regulars; for example my partner used to be a regular and then moved overseas for 3 years and they still remembered her after all that time! And then there's the pies, oh sweet sweet delicious heaven-sent morsels of delight! They have the standard fare which drive a hard bargain at $3.60, but then they also have 'fancy' pies for $4.20 which include rockstar gems like Steak, Mushroom, Bacon and Cheese, or Chicken, Camembert and Cranberry, or Steak and Kumara, or Butter Chicken and Broccoli. My personal favs are the first 2 aforementioned pies and I really have to discipline myself as I have to walk past the Boston Bakery twice a day, 5 days a week.
