When you work full-time and have evening engagements it's rather hard to arrange something when you have only a 2-hour window to compete with other clients. Conveniently located on the opposite side of Queens Park and just a stone's throw from the Mount Florida train station, Hampden Foot Clinic will work wonders on your hard-worn soles. Since I used to dance, my feet are prone to callusing quicker than vultures all over a free meal. Calluses are great for dancing, but not a great look for day-to-day. My podiatrist Mikey is friendly, professional and great chat. He puts you at ease as he transforms the grotesque into something beautiful and soft. Finished off with some softening cream and tea tree oil, I was ready to skip home in my heavenly feet. This is no ordinary froufrou foot spa, file and polish. Equipped with sanitary medical equipment, she works her wizardry and transforms your lizard-like soles into pillow-like pads. Don't believe me? I danced ballet (including en pointe) for over 13 years. Thanks to all that training, I have hard feet and am prone to calluses (yum, I know). Expensive diamond foot files, Swedish/Norwegian foot creams, foot socks... I have tried everything, yet my feet just revert to protect itself due to years of abuse. At the start of my appointment, I joked about asking Sarah not to judge my feet. She immediately went to town with her scalpel, which was absolutely painless as we chatted away about randomness. Being a medically trained professional, she also removed a corn that I hadn't taken notice of, and she was surprised it wasn't causing me severe amount of pain (again high pain threshold from dancing en pointe). Sarah also provides advice on how to minimise certain areas from getting built up again, and aftercare. After an hour (typical appointments should be 30 minutes), my feet were unrecognisable and I definitely didn't want to stand or walk on them. My feet were unbelievably soft and smooth; for £40 this knocks every other "spa pedicure" out of the ball park. Bonus: the other half doesn't recoil when I try to put my feet on his legs. Win! When I saw my mum and aunt's bare feet for the first time in years, I realised what could be my future (or should that be footure, boom boom!) and I've started coming here every 3 months just to keep my feet ship shape for as long as I can. For £27 you get a bit of a foot MOT - my favourite bit is when she does my feet with what pretty much looks like a Dremel sander. Afterwards, your feet feel super good - you think you can cut your own toenails well enough, but then you get it done here and realise you're a total amateur. They're open on Saturdays which is brilliant and the lady who works here is awesome - she's a good laugh and very easy to chat to about all sorts of stuff - we even ended up on Tudor history today :-) I guess most people who come here are treating specific complaints but you don't have to wait for something to go wrong to take better care of your feet. Toe-tally recommend this place (sorry, I'll get my coat).

Recently visited this clinic for help with a persistent verruca that my daughter had, we had tried…read moreeverything over the 2 years she has had it and Karen the owner suggested we tried something new called needling, we went ahead and although my daughter experienced some pain apparently this is not always the case some people experience little discomfort. The help and information Karen has supplied us with is second to none, nothing is too much bother. She is absolutely delighted with the procedure and 2 weeks later although still very much visible she is sure that the verruca will be no more in less than a few more weeks. I absolutely believe her, if she says it will be gone then I am sure that the verruca would not dare to defy her. Would not hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone. A big thumbs up from us.

I made an appt for my mum who is in care home with dementia to attend Footprints. I made this at…read morethe Burnside branch who were full so put the appt to Muirend branch. This appt was for a Monday late afternoon. I received a phone call from Mums care home (Monday AM) saying my mum was unwell and wouldn't be able to attend, the appt would need to be rescheduled. On phoning footprints, they were extremely inflexible. They cited their 24 hour cancellation policy (which I wasn't informed about at the point of making the appointment) and the appointment would need to be paid in full. I asked how 24 hour policy worked on a Monday when they were closed the day before, apparently you were to leave a message on their answer machine, again something I wasn't told about. Since I don't live with my mum and being in a care home her health can be variable, I informed them as soon as I could which was 11am after getting a voicemail from her nurse at 10.50 am, as stated the appt was 4.15 the same day. I understand businesses can have cancellation issues, in this case there were clear mitigating circumstances that the staff did not empathize with, were out with my control and it's difficult to predict the health of patients with dementia. I cannot recommend either the burnside or the muirend branch after this experience, I would avoid.

The last time I had a bad neck, I started off by trying the osteopath, who assured me that he could help: certainly, his words and massage did help me. However, the recovery wasn't quick enough, so I went to a physio. The physio said I had to choose: osteopath (at a fair price per session) or physiotherapy on the NHS. I went for the cheap and, as it turned out, effective, option. However, I had had some signs of improvement in my fortnight at this osteopath, and do believe that his work did some good. It was not madly expensive, compared to other treatments (chiropractic, I am looking at you), and there was a sense of genuine attention, not just bilking the sucker from his cash. If you understand and believe in the process, this is a nice and professional clinic.

One of these said people, has got to be my gran; although she is a big fan of almost any time of alternative medicine, remedy or - well, hell anything. All this mind over matter stuff should not be taken too lightly. Therefore, this place is a great option for osteopathic needs, as it's: 1) Clean, tidy and comfortable. 2) Has a good range of opening hours. 3) Is well staffed. 4) The staff are pleasant, personable and extremely knowledgeable. 5) Their prices are pretty reasonable as far as these things go. Though, if you are convinced these treatments will not work then, best not to waste your money proving yourself correct.

He's gonna kick the absolute bejesus out of you, all whilst explaining better ways to train & stretch to distract me from the fact that sports massage is actually kinda nippy. £40 for an hour, well worth it. The clinic offers a range of other services; if the standard across the board is the same as the massage, I'd heartily recommend.

I've had the misfortune of visiting Achilles heel clinic several times. "Wait, you said misfortune…read moreand give it five stars?!" I hear you cry. But of course....visiting here usually means I'm broken. And the physio now recognises me enough to greet me with 'is this the same problem as last time?' (it's never been the same issue twice...) Anyway, I've never had a problem getting a short notice appointment and the clinic is convenient enough for my work to manage lunchtime appointments although they are open 7 days a week and until 8pm Monday to Thursday. The physio appointment will generally involve a discussion of the issue, an overall biomechanical assessment and investigation of the injury location then a bit of treatment and recommendations for exercises to do. Have found the advice to be very helpful. The clinic also sells a whole bunch of supports/foam rollers/massage ball type things which can be a help in your rehabilitation. Not to be neglected is sports massage - usually I only go when something has tightened up though I believe a general body tune up every now and then is a good idea. 'Tis my location of choice for sporty aches and pains!

Offering herbal remedies for everything ranging from a bruised leg to flu, this place is a welcome tonic to the "take this pill and it'll all be fine" approach of your local GP. In addition to the herbal stuff, you can also get a wide range of massages in this place, from relaxing and calming treatments to deep tissue sports orientated ones. Got one of Dem sports massages a few years ago after caputing my shoulder via a combination of roof work and mountain bike madness. The results were nothing short of amazing. This place also does some interesting herbal and natural products ranging from lip bam to toothpaste and deodorants. It also does candles and other nice smelling type items. A visit here always leaves you feeling a little more refreshed than you were when you walked in. I…read moreknow when it gets to this stage rather than swally a load of painkillers all the time what I really need is a GOOD massage. The kind that makes you go 'Ah yeeeaaaaaaaah....' I usually go to Karada Massage in High Street but I fear they may have closed down :( I could not access their website or phone them. *sob* So I needed a back up fast. I read on this here Yelp that WH were pretty good & also a friend of mine recommended them. I was so in need of relief (steady!) I phoned & made an appointment for that day. Got one luckily no bother. Brilliant. I wasn't sure exactly what type of massage to get (as they really do so many various kinds) so I explained to the nice lady on the phone & she said I could discuss my requirements on arrival with my therapist. My therapist was Isabel and she was very nice indeed. I explained to her my pain & she asked a few (relevant) questions & then said she would cater the massage to my needs ~ this being a back, shoulder, neck & face/head massage. Lovely job. I could not wait. My massage was for an hour and it was so so good. A wee bit sore at times but it was necessary as I was really knotted up & as tense as a very tense thing (apparently). She was very thorough and she did indeed massage all parts necessary, including my face which was so nice BUT as I didn't know I was getting a facial I had on my usual make-up which by the end of the massage, of course, ended up smudged all over my face! Ha ha! Oh dear...luckily they have a wee bathroom (with lovely smelling hand soap!) you can 'fix' yourself in after or else I would've scared the people of Woodlands with my mental clown face. Again. Doh. My particular massage treatment was £40 which you might think is a bit steep but for how much it helped me & how well it was catered to my needs I thought it was fair. Their website has a handy price-list so you can check how much your treatment should be before you go and check at what days/times they are available. Isabel recommended I come again in 2 weeks time (Yes, it was THAT bad!) and I did and again it was brilliant. She suggested monthly massages to me & I am actually really up for it as I am one of these people that really needs a good massage regularly. If only I was richer! Another really good thing about WH is that they stay open late on a Wednesday (and other evenings too), until 8pm I believe. This is great if you work 9-5pm. I also like the wee shop they have in here ~ lots of vitamins & herbal treatments/goodies, food/snack things & other stuffs. I just love the smell of this place as soon as you walk in...Mmmm! Herbs!
