I rarely write reviews, but this place deserves one. Please excuse my length. They went above and beyond for me, but did so in a way that makes me believe they would do the same for any customer that walks in the door. After this experience, I know where all of mine and my businesses printing and framing needs will be taken care of from now on. Here it is: The Print Shop handled a couple important projects and needed them done quickly, and they delivered. I came in with three prints, all distinctly different. One was a signed photo of five living presidents, which they helped me create a custom frame for. The photo, a gift for my roommate, is one of a kind in terms of dimensions, and I had been all over the place trying to get a frame for it unsuccessfully. Not only were they able to build the frame I needed, they added a beautiful red, white, and blue backdrop. My roommate absolutely loved his gift. The Print Shop staff were so curious about the photo and genuinely engaging in talking about it. The second was a print for my business, which I needed put on canvas to display in the lobby. I get compliments all the time on the print, so again, all credit is due to them. The third item may be the most important in forming my opinion of The Print Shop. It was a gag gift for a gift exchange, so I just needed a good frame, but not too expensive of one. I picked one out that I liked and we started to measure the dimensions. I was fully prepared to pay for the frame I had picked out (somewhere around $55 I think). Once the measurements were done, Becky, the employee helping me with all of this, stopped me and said she had an idea. She went to the clearance rack and found me a frame that worked. It wasn't as nice as the one we had originally picked out, but once she realized it was for a gag gift, she encouraged me away from the custom frame and we found one that worked for about $20. This showed me that above all, Becky was concerned with meeting my needs, not simply making the sale. Bottom line - it is clear that this business is run by and full of people who love what they do, and those are the kinds of companies I enjoy bringing my business to. read more

I couldn't be happier with the job the Frame & Print Shop did for me! The staff were genuinely interested in my project and are clearly experts at their craft. I brought in three prints, each in a different color palette, that I wanted coordinated to hang in my kitchen. Ash was a great listener and spent a lot of time matching just the right matte color to the content and finding a frame that brought them together and made them look like they belonged in that particular room. The staff at this Frame Shop is amazing! They are very helpful, knowledgeable, and patient, and help a lot with making decisions about matting and framing. Once the decisions are made, they do a wonderful, professional job of framing. And they work with a restorer, Laura Riley, who is beyond amazing. After a house fire we had to have a lot of paintings and prints restored and reframed, and we are so happy with the results. With our paintings rehung, our house looks as good as new! read more

The Print Shop recently framed two Carolina lithographs as a surprise birthday present for my 41 year old twin boys. The frames and mats that Ash helped me select were the perfect combination to create a striking and tasteful interpretation of two original UNC ram renderings. I don't believe I have ever had a more professional and time sensitive approach to getting art framed. Ash's art degree made the selection process easy. She was also conscious of my budget and was quick to suggest alternatives to get the same "look" at a lower cost. I very much appreciated the personal attention she gave to my project. I know this is a national chain, but this shop maintains a local feel. Every business in Chapel Hill knows that the quickest way to succeed around here is to tie yourself to UNC. For that reason The Print Shop has come up with a great selection of hard-to-find Carolina prints. What's even better is that they're not all basketball or even sports related, they also have a great selection of the scenic treasures that Chapel Hill holds so dear. That's not to say that they don't have some great Carolina Basketball and general sports stuff as well. They have some great prints that aren't' offered at UNC Student Stores or anywhere on Franklin Street. Their selection also includes some pieces from local artists, which is nice to see form a national chain. This shop gets my bump for its local feel. read more

Customer service like you rarely see anymore. Becky was terrific helping me choose the frame and mat for my artwork, and worked with me to keep the project close to my budget. They even got my prints done in two days instead of the six days they promised. I will definitely come back to the shop the next time I have need for framing! While the end results were really beautiful, I took 2 separate orders there and both times, there was a major error that had to be fixed, delaying my pickup by a day (in one case) and a week (in the other). In the first case, the frame was totally wrong--I ordered black and got brass. The employees blamed the frame company, seeing as the color numbers were close to each other. It may be the frame company's fault, but it should have been caught before the pieces were framed. In this same transaction, I was asked to pay part of the balance in cash rather than credit card to help balance out the register. It was weird and annoying to hit the ATM, but I did so anyway... I felt some pressure, and it was weird. But I really wanted to support a local business, so I went back... In the second case, everything looked great except for a scrap piece of cardboard (or some material) stuck in between the glass and the photo. A quick inspection by anyone with eyeballs would have alerted them to this, and it's just sloppy and shows a lack of pride. Good end results, but I've spent over $800 in the past few months with them, and they are zero for two on getting simple orders correct the first time. I won't be giving them the option for a third strike. read more

I just had a custom framing order completed for the first time in a couple years and what a wonderful staff! I had several pieces of art framed, The Print Shop staff deserve at least a six if not more. Everyone was extremely helpful and patient taking ample time to work with me. The staff help me match the mats and frames for my pictures perfectly and it is obvious that the staff is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to art and custom framing! The store looks great, seems there has been a lot of new organization happening since my last visit! Look forward to coming back next time I need more custom framing. read more

Creative, but not pushy with their ideas. Also, I told them I was price conscious, and they helped me stay in my budget. Last but most importantly, I was thrilled with the way my pictures turned out. I was led to this shop on the recommendation of a friend; was not disappointed! I needed a canvas painting I had picked up while traveling to be stretched, and their prices and quality of service was impeccable. Store definitely has a family feel, and associates are open in their recommendations - something I appreciate since framing is NOT something I know much about. I had taken my piece to price check at a number of places and their price blew the rest out of the water. Plus, I felt comfortable and secure leaving this one of a kind painting in their trustworthy hands. A+ for quality of work and customer service. She spent a long time helping me pick out just the right mat, glass, and frame to make this a memorable gift. She gave invaluable advice, and made the whole process relaxing.
