Steve was very helpful and cordial. He helped me pick out a mat for a very old and very fragile plastic map that my Dad brought back from overseas travel at least 50 years ago. I was trying to stabilize on a picture frame backing to prevent further damage. He cut the mat while I waited and it fit exactly as he said. There were numerous examples of attractive frames and mats waiting to be picked up by other customers. The prices were very reasonable. Fantastic local frame shop on the corner of Main and Berry in Norman. If a huge national chain (Michael's or Hobby Lobby, for example) has sent you a coupon in the mail advertising 70% off (or more), don't be fooled! The Frame Shop's prices are the same as those places with the coupons. So, try a local joint for your custom framing needs. I have had 2 things framed at The Frame Shop and loved them both. One was a professional document and the other was a piece of sports memorabilia. The owner is very helpful in deciding what types of mats and frames to choose. Also, when you look around the store, there is some very creative stuff. They have a ton of experience and it shows in the final product. My husband purchased an etching on our honeymoon in Spain to give to me on our one-year anniversary and I took it here to be framed. I considered going to one of the chains, but decided against it with something this important to me. The Frame Shop did a great job, I am so pleased! They patiently explained the different glass options and associated costs, made frame suggestions at several price points, and gave honest opinions on whether I should add matting, museum glass, etc. I chose a frame with etching that echoed the Moorish designs we saw in Spain and cannot tell you enough how pleased I am with the final product. Initially I thought I would add matting, but did not on their advice. They said if I was not happy with how it looked to just bring it back in, but it turned out beautifully! In one photo, they replaced glass to eliminate glare, and then decided to add foam board backing and a new mat, at no charge, just so it would look "right" for me. Making the appropriate frame selection is so important and the taste level and workmanship of the owner makes everything he does stand apart. He gave several options and price points, and recommended those things he felt would make a big difference.
