Service was really fast although they were busy since there were other knuckleheads like us who needed last minute things for their holiday dinners. Good morning we were there yesterday @fresh market 75% of the time we have a good experience other times we are there the wrong day there too early there too late. They're either not cooking the vegetables yet or they're out of the vegetables and it's all timing issue I get it I'm not complaining about that. I'm just mentioning the fact that you know I guess it's good for local people that can just come and if they're not there, they can go somewhere else but you know when you drive 15 miles 11 miles whatever it is to get something and it's not there. I guess we should call ahead but anyway yesterday we picked up a Meatloaf I'm gonna surprise my daughter with it so she didn't have to cook and she put it in the oven just like the recipe called for when it came out the whole bottom of the meatloaf was basically sitting in grease kind of like the 8020 mix didn't mix well I was under the impression that the fresh market ground beef was you know top-of-the-line stuff so we figured we'd try a meatloaf and see how it went and be honest with you. It was awful. You threw the whole thing away and I hope you just will consider the review and make it better you know I think I got one of those meatloaf's 10 years ago and had a similar situation where it was. You know too fatty just doesn't cook well I I think you need to address service is always good. It's always a smile. I miss Adam already. I'd like to see Adam when he was there. The ambience is nice Joyin the Floral department. She's always pleasant Alvin in the deli. It's always good to see him but yesterday morning it was early. I guess too early 9 o'clock I guess and there was no food made yet except chicken wings but we love the vegetables. 'Tis the season to eat pumpkin. Mainly went to Fresh Market to see if their online offerings for pumpkin nut bread were true or not. RESULT: 100% true. Wound up purchasing their two loaves of pumpkin nut bread. I'm happy as a clam and I've been eating them ever since. Oh, and freezing them as needed. This is another grocery store in Tallahassee that I consider an "enhancer" and not a store for everyday grocery shopping. However, for what they are, they do a great job. I shop mostly around the perimeter here. Actually, I shop down 2 sides, from produce to the bakery and once around the deli area. They have lovely produce that's not too much more than my regular grocery store and is attractively displayed. The meat department is a carnivore's dream with it all out for you to view and select from the cases. They wrap it for you after you make your choice and I so prefer that to the foam trays and plastic wrap at many grocery stores. They have a thick cut and tied chuck roast that I prefer to the usual way most grocery stores cut a chuck roast. The bakery has all kinds of breads, rolls, muffins and pastries and then there is their fancy dessert case where you can blow your budget and diet. The deli area has prepared food as well as cheeses and deli meats. We are partial to their white wine and herb rotisserie chicken. Always flavorful and moist all the way through. The other areas of the store are small on selection (except for the wine) compared to other grocery stores but you will find a few interesting items there. P.S. I used them once for delivery via Instacart when my wife had just come home from the hospital and it was a godsend. Easy online ordering and quick and courteous delivery. I know that has more to do with the Instacart shopper/delivery person than Fresh Market, but as many times as places get dinged on Yelp for problems with the independent delivery service, shouldn't they get the credit too? read more

I was in need of some last minute things for the holidays. I just knew that Fresh Market had to have it in stock. I was right. I was able to locate the perfect crackers, wine, antipasto, and other items. Everything was fresh and plentiful in stock. This location is always so clean and the staff is friendly. You can feel the holiday cheer when you enter the store. I was also able to purchase some festive coffee. Great way to wake up on Christmas. I think the Fresh Market deserves better rating than the 3.5 it currently has. I actually had not been to any Fresh Market stores when I lived in SATX/ATX area. Guess Whole Foods and HEB took the entire market over there. This particular store is pretty close to me so I thought I'd check it out. The first time I visited during the day, I thought the store was a bit odd. It was so dark inside. Then I visited it again at night, it felt better. But I think I grow to like it more now especially b/c I recently discovered that they have better produce than Publix. I'm all about eating fresh, healthy, organic, and non-GMO. So I can deff see myself coming here more often. I don't mind paying a bit more for better quality. To be honest, I rarely compare prices so I actually don't know if they are more expensive than the average grocery store or not. Other than the produce, their fish is pretty on point too. I saw some salmon on sale for $6.99 per pound. They also have wild king salmon. Hmm, maybe I'll try that next time. Their pre-cooked section isn't as impressive as Publix. But I'll make trips here for the produce and fish alone. Overall, it's a nice addition to Publix and Trader Joe's in my hood. read more

This really is a great spot to find some of those "random" ingredients you may need for specialty dishes that aren't sold in Publix, etc., but that's really not why I'm writing the review. I'm here to report that the "Sushi with Gusto" counter here is a fantastic spot to grab a fresh, flavorful sushi roll, summer roll, seaweed salad, sushi burrito, etc. for lunch or dinner. They even have rolls prepared with brown rice, for those of us who like to add a little fiber to the carbs. They are pre-made, but the sushi chefs are right there behind the counter, and will also make something for you on the spot, if it's not in the display case (which I discovered when they didn't have any Poke bowls left). I love Poke bowls, but the north side of town is seriously lacking in places that serve them. So, when I'm having a craving, and don't feel like traveling too far, this place is my go-to. read more

Saturdays are $6.99 USDA Prime Ground Beef and fresh farm raised Atlantic Salmon! Service is always exceptional, especially the guys behind the meat counter. The fruits and vegetables are consistently fresh. Also, you'll discover a great selection of craft beer bombers from Victory, Southern Tier and more. Their meat department is fantastic and they have good deals. I love their rotisserie chicken (only $5 on Thursday) and their deal meals. I even bought an orchid unlike any I've ever seen. I must admit, I haven't met a Fresh Market I don't like; Jacksonville, Tallahassee, they are all a delight to shop at. You may not notice their varied decor in the upper most crevices of the perimeter wall, but you are sure to notice their colorful displays of candy, produce, flowers and baked goods. The Fresh Market is a premier shopping experience--and dare I say a step above Publix (gasp) with regard to customer service and high quality meats. Over the last few years, The Fresh Market found a way to get an average shopper (such as myself) into their store by running $2.99 Chuck and Chicken deals (used to be $1.99) and their weekly "Little Big Meals" where you get entree, sides and sometimes dessert for $20. Know that this isn't a store you frequent for your weekly grocery needs. I don't usually go out of my way to shop here. It's usually an I'm-in-the-area-let's-check-out-what's-new thing. Oddly, Fresh Market has always felt like a gift shop of sorts. They have an abundance of bulk candies and varieties of chocolate. If you're making a sweet-toothed, snack-lover gift basket, you've got lots to choose from here. I'm a fan for their olive bar and the selection of gelato/ice cream varieties in the freezer. Don't take it lightly when I say you've got to pick up a pint of the Coolhaus Balsamic Fig & Mascarpone ice cream. It simply can't fail you. The olive bar price is pretty steep ($10.99/lb), but they've got a lot to choose from-more than any other I've seen in Tallahassee. There's usually no associates on the floor. If there is, they don't say much to you. Though, I've found that the associates in the deli section and cashwrap are happy to serve and make small conversation. Overall, this place is a nice spot to browse, but if you live far, it's not a destination by any means. And a warning to coffee buffs: I probably don't have to tell you, but this is not a place to get your fresh roasted beans. Beans will be on the shelf for months at a time, proudly representing a roast date of six-months old. Cringe-worthy. Anyway, find your gems! read more

But after repeated disappoints, I think I'll throw in the towel. We've had stale food from bulk (a number of times), less than fresh produce, and disappointment due to few fresh baked breads. Today I went specifically looking for fresh, crusty bread to accompany stew. It's noon on a Sunday. So you'd think they'd be stocked. Nope. Virtually every bread bin was empty. Every one: rolls, baguettes, loaves, etc. They did have ciabatta, but that won't cut it for tonight's meal. I had thought and hoped that they'd step up their game when Whole Foods and Trader Joes came to town. But they seem stuck where they are with gourmet pricing but a sad selection. read more

I really enjoy browsing the Fresh Market. In fact, I enjoy browsing much more than actually BUYING from the Fresh Market. It is a rare occasion indeed when I actually walk out with more than three items. Fresh Market has a wonderful of array of grocery items which are often hard-to-find and exotic. Prices, alas, reflect this. If you've never been to a Fresh Market, I would describe it as being (in both price and substance) like an expanded grocery-only version of World Market. The meat section has a special allure for me. I have yet to utilize it much, but the meat department always makes their offerings look excellent, from seafood to an incredible array of sausages (bangers, bratwurst, and more). Again, the problem for me is that I find it hard to pay $2.00-$3.00 for a single sausage when I can get a pack of Hebrew National at the regular grocery for less than $5 at Publix across the street. Whether this be apples to oranges or evidence of pearls before swine, it rather sums up my feeling about Fresh Market as a whole - if you need one or two specialized items (say, tahini paste or a particular type of imported tea) this place fits the bill, but otherwise will break the bank. I recognize that Fresh Market has chosen, by no mistake, to locate in tony northeast Tallahassee not too far from the Killearn area where shoppers are likely to be less concerned about paying $3.00 for a bratwurst. I used to visit the Fresh Markets in Montgomery or Destin solely because they sold Mexican Coca-Cola, but now that drink is so popular they sell them by the case at Sam's Club and I've even seen them in the Hispanic section in several Dollar Generals! I would be remiss if I did not mention that Fresh Market has an extensive wine selection with some pretty good offerings, including some very affordable in-house labels. They occasionally sell a pomegranate wine which is absolutely the sweetest, most pleasant wine I've ever tested and has a high ABV to boot! read more

Pro's: good produce - much fresher than Publix, and, often-times still a good value, with organic selections available in many cases. e.g. I love the organic leaf lettuce here - priced right & always fresh. There's also a good selection of high quality, sometimes unique or hard-to-find-elsewhere grocery items throughout the store. Cons: customer service is hit & miss, especially at the meat counter, where there's a generally sour attitude going on nearly always - ask for something special and expect a frown or grumbling. And, recently, they advertised changing store hours to open an hour earlier with coffee and breakfast available. I like that they offer their good coffee either in free sample sizes or, now, a larger size cup for a $1, but, I went there to try it out at 8:00 a.m. and, they weren't open - waited around 4-5 min.s and, with still no sign of anyone coming to open up, had to leave to get to work. read more

this used to be my favorite store. i went there every day after i worked out. when the pandemic first began it was one of the few stores i felt safe in as they were one of the first to require masks (along with shirts and shoes). they have now reversed that policy and masks are only a suggestion. i will never shop there again. i will not spend my dollars where my life is not valued. you only have to look to costco, whose profits are soaring, to see how it's done. if you make us feel safe, we will come. read more

Fresh Market is my favorite grocery store in Tallahassee. The store is always clean and inviting. The meat department and bakery staffs are knowledgeable and friendly. The store has an extensive array of gourmet prepared foods and desserts that are relatively affordable for their quality. The store has the best meat department in the city, in my opinion and one can find excellent deals every Tuesday. Recently, the Tuesday specials included hormone/antibiotic free chicken breast for $2.99 per pound. The store also has a lovely flower department and an impressive selection of foreign chesses. The store is not large, yet they always seem to have all check lines open. Parking can get tight on Saturday afternoons and weekdays between 5 and 7, but it's best to shop on Tuesday mornings anyway to get those great specials. read more

The meats are first rate, but other than that the inventory is overpriced and the "fresh" in fresh market is debatable.. Go around the corner to Market Square to Au Peche Mignon for baked goods and Southern Seafood for seafood. Fresh Market is not a fun experience for this foodie. Also, beware of pricing errors (I have been overcharged on more than one occasion.) It's not the checkout personnel, but the prices on the merchandise -- for some reason I never get undercharged. I hate grocery shopping but I rather enjoy Fresh Market. It is more expensive than your other options, but with good reason. I wouldn't buy everything from this store, but I will say there produce is exceptional and their meat is superior to any supermarket.
