I'm from the east side but try to secure time to spend at Funky Frog because it's so worth it. Renee has her store decorated so cute; it feels like boutique shopping, instead of resale! It's organized well, making it easy to find toys, books, and clothes for just the right age you need. I love the variety, my son loves the play area, and I love the community outreach, I'm also from a small downtown, so I believe it's important to invest in your city & neighborhoods. Plus it's a nice touch when you walk in and are recognized as regular ;) Treat yourself, treat your kids and visit The Funky Frog. Renee, the owner, is extremely helpful...especially when you have kids in tow. I have had a nice experience every time I've been in her new shop on Main St and before when she was on East 3rd Street. The very first item I purchased during my pregnancy was from The Funky Frog and my son loves his incredibley soft blanket. She has the best selection of used toys for kids of all sizes and it's easier to go to her shop than follow Mom 2 Mom sales. ugh. read more

Let's just simplify here. Rude owner. Our family of 4...2 girls under 10 came in to shop. The owner didn't appear happy we walked in. She didn't appear happy we were buying something from her. She wasn't interested in honoring a coupon that we forgot from a magazine that is available at stands all around downtown Rochester. We ended up walking across the street to grab an In Town Magazine to get the needed coupon she wouldn't honor. Why would I ever waste my time going back? Why would someone invest so much time and energy building and developing a store do that in the end, she would be so impersonable and rude to her customers. Everybody knows it's the simple things in life that fall apart and ruin a business. That's what may happen here. read more

Meh... This place is alright. Very overpriced with a disappointing selection. I find a few nice mini Biden items now and again or Hannah Anderson but then it turns out there's a snag rip or hole in it. I brought it to the attention of the employee and she didn't care. If she would have knocked a little off the ridiculous price I would have gotten it anyways and sewed it. I can never find anything for my older girl and a lot of the selection for older children is what I agree with other poster as 80's style or vintage. I just don't know how they justify the prices. read more

I'm honestly not sure how they stay in business. Or maybe I've just been spoiled by Restyle Child in Birmingham which, in my opinion, is the epitome of upscale resale in Metro Detroit. And no, I have no affiliation with Restyle Child. I just happen to think they're a great example of doing it right. Reasonable prices, great sales, quality brands. Never have I seen so much threadbare, wash worn, OLD clothing for sale in my life, at prices comparable to retail. I have found nicer clothes in better condition at my local Salvation Army. Lots of Gymboree from lines I don't even recognize in the last 8 years that I've shopped Gymbo. I consider myself to be a bit of a children's clothing resale guru. I can generally look at a piece, know what brand it is, and have an idea of price before even looking at the tag. This place really has it wrong. The stuff they post on FB (infrequently) must be the ONLY nice stuff they get in. I looked at an Our Generation doll kitchen they had displayed, knowing it was from Target, and was shocked to see a price tag of $49.99. I could get one NEW at that price! When shopping here, you really need to get out and comparison shop because you're being taken. If you like your child to dress like they're a cast member of Full House in the mid-90s, then the Funky Frog is for you! read more

I have always been happy with the Funky Frog. Their clothes are high quality at a reasonable price. The owner really takes the time to make her store and everything in it clean and neat. It is organized so searching is not tedious. She is very familiar with her stock and always has something fun going on. Love it! read more

For context I've been going here since I was a baby, now I'm currently a adult as we speak. When I was a child the staff there use to be extremely kind and greeted people, for clients such as what I and my parents fell under we were able to gain stuff to help us immensely due to low wages. Such as every month you can come in get 3 tops, 3 bottoms, a jacket or winter coat, a blanket/sheets every 6 months, socks, underwear, bra, shoes every 3 months. The staff there would even point out stuff to people there whenever they would have good items such as clothing or furniture, Because the clothes closet was intented for people not making enough money to get clothes on their back, and necessities. Not to mention everything they get is **donated** not sold to them it's given. They didn't have it open to the public originally due to it was connected to neighborhood house, however slowly they started to implement cost if clients wanted extra clothing however at highest something would cost was $5 at most and that's if it was furniture, and slowly was open to the public after years. But ever since they got new management they have become a former shell of what the use to be, now they're using their donations given to them to make a quick buck and it disgusts me. Clients now can only go 6 months out of the year when 2 years prior they could go every month because it was intended for families who make less money. You can only get a winter jacket and light jacket once every 2 years (so if you have growing children good luck keeping them warm) and same thing for bedding. Next they now have become full on money goblins, everything they have is given/donated to them and they are taking those donations and selling them for ridiculously high prices raging as high as $100. In fact they are even putting aside items for resellers to buy off them before anyone else can get to them which I overheard the visit I had today. Furthermore they now have implemented tables/racks that clients cannot even get items off them for free like this was intended for selling purses as high as 20-60 dollars. And due to them now trying to make a quick buck their racks are over filled to the brim with clothes to the point you can hardly move the clothing to see what's there in the racks at times, especially the coats it's absolutely ridiculous. And last their staff is extremely disrespectful. Everytime I try to great them I'm always met with a scoff or annoyed sigh, and they nit pick the clothing like it's coming out their own wallet. Overall I'm disgusted at the Neighborhood houseclothes closet it's a former shell of what it use to be and is now a money grab for resellers or outrageous prices. If you want to donate high valuable stuff to reach a family in need, don't do so here I'd suggest Facebook market place and putting it up for free for or gods helping hand if you want your donations to hit a family in need because they'll use your items here for a quick buck, and very limited for families who actually need it.

I saw a Yves Saint Laurent woman's outfit for sale, beautiful dress shoes, mens dress coats and so much more. I stopped in today with a friend because he enjoys thrift shopping as well. Prices here are a bit high but the product is selective thus the cost. The store also is a non profit and does donations to the community, which I love. I didn't buy anything here today, but have been here before in the past and bought a thing or two. If I find a treasure that suits me, and it's in my budget I'm game. The shop is narrow, but LONG, with clothing and accessories up front and then different cubbies of home goods as you go in further, ending in the back with miscellaneous more home goods, fine china, bigger furniture items, a kid's section, movies/music/books, and men's ware. There's something for everyone here and a portion of the proceeds are donated to charity as well, so it's for a good cause while you're also giving all these items a second life in your or a loved one's home!

I found 5 different cashmere sweaters and all different styles, cuts and colors too. The burgundy with the two cut out on the upper chest looked fun, but it wasn't so flattering on. The gray with the angled shoulders looked unique, but made me think of Star Trek every time I looked at it. Didn't suit me either. The pink and gray vintage seamed was loose but not too baggy. My husband found it baggy on me, but it was quite comfy. The other pale pink sweater fit me like a glove and the sleeves were nice too and the whole sweater was form fitting. The first gray sweater is my absolute favorite. It caught my eye on the mannequin and that's the one I bought since it fit me perfectly. I liked the cinched or gathered design all over the sweater. It fit me well and the design is subtle but unique enough. 3 new cashmere sweaters to keep me toasty and warm this fall / winter for years to come. Service was good. Honey Bee Farms was there today giving away samples and educating people about local raw honey. A small business supporting another!
