Game Station since my last visit has moved to Old Forge. Parking is on the street and was easy to find. Interior is much larger than the old location, with plenty of room. Selection in the overall store is what I would call average, with a decent selection of various games. Console selection seemed limited. DVD/Blu-ray stock was decent and cheap, but perhaps a bit lacking. Where I think Game Station stands out is the selection of in box games, which can be difficult to find but were not cheap. They also had a reasonable selection of games for rarer systems like the Sega CD. Overall, if you are a local, Game Station is probably not a bad store to stop in and check out. I'm not sure I'd travel out of my way to check out the selection. read more

If I had not read these reviews before I called The Game Station, I would have been completely baffled. I was hoping to get quotes on some items I had, especially items that other area stores would not take. While asking these basic questions, the owner was brash and seemed offended that I had gone to other stores first. Thankfully, I had read the reviews, so, by the time he started telling me that I had been "scammed" and taken advantage of by the other stores, I kind of just knew to roll with it. As I read through my inventory, hoping to get yes/no answers, he was critical of what I had "Oh, it's model X and it doesn't have the cables? What do you expect me to do?" Well, Wayne, will you give me $5 for it? That's about the extent of it. It's a fat PS2, not fine art. He said he'd take it along with my Wii Balance Board, though not for much. He guaranteed he'd give me better prices than anywhere else. Fine by me. A few weeks later, I found a trove--and I mean a trove--of GBA and PS1 games in my parents' attic. I called and mentioned I respected him being straight with me and saying he'd take some of my undesirable stuff and then told him that I had found hundreds of dollars in retro gaming items--what might we be looking at and when could I bring it down? As I asked for estimates on some of the more notable PS1 games, I was met with a tirade about people who shop around and use him for price discovery. I get it! But then he told me prices anyway, while oscillating between asking if I had other desirable games and criticizing some of my other, less-popular games. Again--you'd think they didn't want my business--but we got through it and the estimates were consistent with what I found online. I showed up with three boxes of electronics and I stood back as they were unloaded. In person, the owner and his wife are really pleasant people. We don't need to get into details, but we exchanged small-talk for an extended period of time and I enjoyed the social interaction. The prices offered were fine but, hey, wait a minute, what about the fat PS2 and Wii Balance Board? They didn't want to take them. With the largest cache of PS1 games that anyone has seen in 2020 on the line, we were able to work something out. I left the store with $400 in my pocket and felt like I had befriended the husband and wife team. A week and a half later, as I unloaded what few items remained, I realized that I was missing my 5th-generation iPod (~$50). I knew that someone at the Game Station must have taken it out of the box and we hadn't discussed it or anything. But almost two weeks and no heads-up call? I called and identified myself ("Hi Wayne, this is Tim O ... ... I was in a few weeks ago and sold you some games ..."), but was stonewalled ("Ok?") into actually explaining why I was calling, at which point the owner admitted "oh, yeah, we put it on the side and were wondering when you were going to come back for that." Err... you were in possession of something belonging to a customer due to your mistake, had my name, address, phone number, *and* the knowledge of when I was leaving NEPA for Chicago and you sat there wondering when I was going to try to come back for it? Sorry--I didn't see a need to write a review but, upon reflecting, it's hard to classify this as an honest oversight. I headed down and was asked to name a song on the iPod I had last used in 2009 in order to prove it was mine. Naming a song correctly, I was provided with the iPod and the comment "nobody listens to that shit anymore." Truer than you'd want to believe. read more

This is a review from years ago. Just never left it and Its solely on the owner and how he treats people, not product, prices, cleanliness, as I will never visit his store or purchase anything to support him. I've been to the old location in Hanover a few times. Was never a huge fan but used video game stores in this area are not abundant. Thought they went out of business but saw they have a new location in Old Forge. I can't comment on anything with the new store, but I can comment on the owner. I called around to local pawn shops and what not after I had a break in and was trying to locate my stolen belongings ( dvds, video games, etc.). I simply called and explained this and was trying to locate my belongings. I was stopped and the owner told me "it's none of your business where I get my games from." That simple bit of inhumanity talking to a young guy (I was about 20 at the time) spoke volumes as to what kind of guy Wayne is. Saying basically that he didn't care if he's acquiring stolen goods and if they were mine, oh well. Plenty of other ways to purchase used video games today than to provide this guy with business. read more

I was in there and my dad purchased a basically brand new Xbox series X and it is in amazing condition and we also purchased a few games ran like brand new. Amazing shop and the people at the front desk were amazing. read more

Drove 60 miles for a 3DS XL. Have to say, they had four in stock and let me take my time to decide. Well worth the trip. Their selection is better than a lot of stores and there's a genuine feel that if you're looking for it, they may have it. Without a doubt, I'll go there again for a hard to find item read more

I've been to The Game Station many times and each time I go there, I'm always more than thrilled with my experience there! There is a great amount of video games there all the way from the Atari 2600 to the Xbox One, there's also a great selection of Video Game Consoles coming in and out all the time. Really friendly staff too! I'd recommend this place to any gamer, young or old. 10/10 read more

i would give to zero stars if it was possible because the owner is a jerk because if you go in there for more than 5 mins, he will rush to buy something and everything there is overpriced. they wanted so much money for games which you can get for cheaper online like a lot cheaper ebay and mercari are better because people on there actually are reasonable with prices. Piece of shit location, when they say "it's priced lower than retail" IT'S A COMPLETE LIE. They had an aqua blue 3DS for $300 saying it was lower than retail, when in reality the retail price is $94! (Source https://www.pricecharting.com/game/nintendo-3ds/nintendo-3ds-aqua-blue?q=nintendo+3ds+aqua+blue) I bought from them once and half of the disc were scratched and one cartridge was dirty and nonfunctional. I have left a review on google maps so I thought, might as well do a review here. Now, I have been looking for an original Xbox console (The first one that came out 20 years ago) They had one for $90.00 and the owner said the only thing missing is the controller. I told him no problem that I have a controller at home. First of all, they had the console sitting on the floor on it's side (That should have been a red flag) They did test it there and it seemed to be ok except the disk drive door would stick but that did fix itself the more I used it. I took him home & the loading would be long but it was still playable. I had it one month and it completely died on me. It won't load at all and if it does (which would be rare), I would get no screen at all! I messaged them and whoever was typing back first said that the disk is probably scratched. I told them I had tried 3 games I had and they are all doing the same thing. Then they said it is probably the hard drive to take it to a repair shop! I had it one month and they want me to pay more money to get it repaired? Then they said they have a 10 day guarantee that they wouldn't let me get any refund or even an exchange or store credit. The review I wrote on Google Maps, they replied saying that I was playing it non stop and doing heavy playing and that the console that I bought I didn't just pay $90.00 for, that it was a bundle with a few games. LIES!! I only bought the console. It wasn't part of any bundle, didn't come with any games & I still have the receipt to prove that & how do they know how much I played it? I didn't play it "Non-Stop"! They also said that customers like me think I should get a lifetime guarantee when I buy something. No I don't but when you spend $90.00 for a console or anything for that matter, you don't expect it to die within a month! I told them how I felt on their Facebook page & they deleted my post & blocked me from commenting again. I guess the truth hurts, doesn't it? The two owners I know are a married couple & they deserve each other. They are very rude and unprofessional. If you want to be treated like crap, buy defective merchandise & be taken advantage of, then this is your go to place! Otherwise, stay away from here. Go to 1 Up Games in Wilkes Barre or Nick D's Video game vault in the Steamtown Mall. Hell, even go to Gamestop! Those places are better than this one! Rant over!!! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We purchased a used PS4 controller two days ago. The first controller they showed us looked like it was previously a dog's chew toy and the buttons were hard to push down, so we asked to see another. The second looked newer, and the buttons seemed to work well so we purchased it for 45$ (which I could have bought brand new at Walmart for that price, but this was more convenient - my first mistake). NEVER were we informed about a no-return policy. When we got home, we tried out the controller. Seemed to work fine at first, but when we tried to plug in a microphone so we could talk to the people in our party, we could not hear anyone nor could anyone hear us, and we tried 3 different mics. Then after a few games, the controller just stopped working and we had no control over our video game. We had to turn everything off and turn back on again (controller was plugged in to charge entire time). Took the controller back today to return, and the wife so rudely informed me that they have a no-return policy and pointed to a banner which was clearly not hung the day we purchased the controller. They then tried to exchange the controller with the dog's chew toy. I refused that one, and then they tried passing off an older-looking controller for LESS than what I paid the original one. They then gave me a third, which I tested out, and everything seemed to work. We haven't tested it out yet, but if there are any problems, it WILL go back. Needless to say, I DO NOT recommend ANYONE doing business with these people. Unfortunately they just moved a store to Old Forge (where we went) and hopefully they go out of business shortly. read more

I think these people should work on there people skills also seems a bit races to me, the lady I think is his wife seems dumber then a bag of rocks and the man owner is just about getting over on people. He's quick to take your $ but has a fit when u buy something that don't work after a day or two, and he's rude on the phone. I rather take my business to Wilkes Barre square game store.
