I appreciate the fact that they are adapting to stay in business, but I don't think they are going to be around for much longer. With the adapting they have morphed into something akin to Spencer's or Hot Topic. Catering to the entertainment portion in the name. Anything you can think of that can hold a picture or logo for a brand of a movie, tv show, or musical act, they most likely have it. They seem to put a huge emphasis on anime. I came in to browse the vinyl. However, there really wasn't a lot of them to go through. After a few minutes of browsing, I got tired of looking at things and decided it was time to leave.

Another member of our family walked in only to purchase something he can't find anywhere else. He's under 18 and was confronted by this worker and thrown out. Never approached Kim. Was only minding his own. Not only did she kick him out she called security to have the member she has an issue with tossed out of the mall completely. He wasn't even near her. He was somewhere else shopping. She then took it a step further and called the local police! My kids are now terrified to even go to that mall period not knowing if security will be called on them too. Thanks fye for not stepping in when Kim wasn't approached threatened or even spoken to. Selection in the overall store is what I would call average, with a decent selection of various games. Console selection seemed limited. DVD/Blu-ray stock was decent and cheap, but perhaps a bit lacking. Where I think Game Station stands out is the selection of in box games, which can be difficult to find but were not cheap. They also had a reasonable selection of games for rarer systems like the Sega CD. Overall, if you are a local, Game Station is probably not a bad store to stop in and check out. I'm not sure I'd travel out of my way to check out the selection.

I was hoping to get quotes on some items I had, especially items that other area stores would not take. While asking these basic questions, the owner was brash and seemed offended that I had gone to other stores first. Thankfully, I had read the reviews, so, by the time he started telling me that I had been "scammed" and taken advantage of by the other stores, I kind of just knew to roll with it. As I read through my inventory, hoping to get yes/no answers, he was critical of what I had "Oh, it's model X and it doesn't have the cables? What do you expect me to do?" Well, Wayne, will you give me $5 for it? That's about the extent of it. It's a fat PS2, not fine art. He said he'd take it along with my Wii Balance Board, though not for much. He guaranteed he'd give me better prices than anywhere else. Fine by me. A few weeks later, I found a trove--and I mean a trove--of GBA and PS1 games in my parents' attic. I called and mentioned I respected him being straight with me and saying he'd take some of my undesirable stuff and then told him that I had found hundreds of dollars in retro gaming items--what might we be looking at and when could I bring it down? As I asked for estimates on some of the more notable PS1 games, I was met with a tirade about people who shop around and use him for price discovery. I get it! But then he told me prices anyway, while oscillating between asking if I had other desirable games and criticizing some of my other, less-popular games. Again--you'd think they didn't want my business--but we got through it and the estimates were consistent with what I found online. I showed up with three boxes of electronics and I stood back as they were unloaded. In person, the owner and his wife are really pleasant people. We don't need to get into details, but we exchanged small-talk for an extended period of time and I enjoyed the social interaction. The prices offered were fine but, hey, wait a minute, what about the fat PS2 and Wii Balance Board? They didn't want to take them. With the largest cache of PS1 games that anyone has seen in 2020 on the line, we were able to work something out. I left the store with $400 in my pocket and felt like I had befriended the husband and wife team. A week and a half later, as I unloaded what few items remained, I realized that I was missing my 5th-generation iPod (~$50). I knew that someone at the Game Station must have taken it out of the box and we hadn't discussed it or anything. But almost two weeks and no heads-up call? I called and identified myself ("Hi Wayne, this is Tim O ... ... I was in a few weeks ago and sold you some games ..."), but was stonewalled ("Ok?") into actually explaining why I was calling, at which point the owner admitted "oh, yeah, we put it on the side and were wondering when you were going to come back for that." Err... you were in possession of something belonging to a customer due to your mistake, had my name, address, phone number, *and* the knowledge of when I was leaving NEPA for Chicago and you sat there wondering when I was going to try to come back for it? Sorry--I didn't see a need to write a review but, upon reflecting, it's hard to classify this as an honest oversight. I headed down and was asked to name a song on the iPod I had last used in 2009 in order to prove it was mine. Naming a song correctly, I was provided with the iPod and the comment "nobody listens to that shit anymore." Truer than you'd want to believe.

On my first visit, I brought two boxes of (mostly boutique-label) DVDs/Blu-rays, and got a trade/cash offer that makes 2nd & Charles and FYE look like bigger chiselers than they already are. Substantial movie selection, split up by genre (Blu-rays have their own section), with a fairly even variety of used discs and rare/OOP titles in original shrink-wrap. Overstock movies have their own sections, with a "colored dot" bulk discount (good way to pick up some mainstream titles). I browsed for a little over an hour, but could've stayed even longer. The trade credit more than covered the stack of movies I picked up. And they even let me take along some cardboard boxes for an upcoming move. Will definitely be back.

Blown away by Young Ones!…read more First thing you notice when you walk into Young Ones is the massive amount & wide range of well organized VINYL (all arranged alphabetically by genre. Really! ...when you see how much inventory they have...you will be doing this too). THEN, you feel & see how much care is taken in the choice of all Young Ones has to offer: vinyl, CDs, DVDs, blu RAY, video games & systems (Yes!) to the beautifully displayed tapestries, posters, concert posters, books, mugs, tshirts, and sooo much more. I just walked around there with my mouth open in amazement for the first hour I was there. The owner & staff are connected to the local music scene, supporting local musicians & venues ... dedicated to promoting artists and bringing you the music you want! Soundcheck Records has an impressive selection of CDs and, believe it or not, cassettes for those who appreciate a little nostalgia. Their new vinyl inventory is outstanding, with plenty of albums spanning a variety of genres and artists. When I stopped in, the used vinyl section was a bit limited because many of the records had sold quickly--which is usually a good sign. One look at the prices and it's easy to understand why. Their pricing is fair and collector-friendly, making it hard to leave empty-handed. Beyond the music, they also carry concert T-shirts, mugs, and other music-related merchandise. I was also happy to find a nice selection of discounted Record Store Day vinyl releases, which is always a treat for collectors. What really sets this shop apart are the owners. They're incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about music. If they don't have what you're looking for in stock, they're happy to special order it and even have it shipped directly to you. Jim Thorpe is full of unique shops, and Soundcheck Records is one of the best. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in--you never know what musical treasure you might discover.

I want to say, I don't collect records, I collect CDs, this was actually my first record purchase ever so I was nervous and desperate to get it. So I was grateful that when I called the Tuesday before that they informed me of the single copy of the record I wanted that they would have in stock (King James Version, Harvey Danger!). The day of I was late but lucky, as nobody had taken it yet, and when you were in line they had someone who would help find records for you. Yelp is insisting I say something about value, so I will say that this had an extremely fair price. This was a limited run collectors item and I know for a fact that they priced it well within the usual range for it sold throughout the states, even though they are a very small business is a very small town in the middle of PA. Not saying I expect small businesses to price gouge a little, but for this record and on this big record store day, I did expect to pay a premium and I got a very fair price. So these are honest people as well as helpful. Thank you!
