I've used Thumbtack many times before for housework/electrical, etc, and thought it might be worth a try for a wedding florist. Luckily - Karen at Garden Path Co responded the same day, and was very attentive to what I wanted - all within my budget! You probably need to be a bride to understand the relief it is when you find a great vendor - almost everything during planning increases or adds to your stress, and Karen immediately took so much stress off my plate. She got on the phone with me and spent over an hour of her time listening to what I wanted, making recommendations - and even gave me other great vendors to look at. In my budget ($1500 and under), every florist refused to come up to my venue to set up - so I pretty much knew I was picking up my flowers and going to have to decorate myself. Karen offered to make the 2-3 hr drive to set them up myself so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Ultimately I didn't end up needing her to do that because a friend of mine offered to set the flowers up for me, but it was so appreciated she was willing to do that! I also had wanted a floral garland for a wedding arch, and had been told that wasn't possible without paying for flower delivery and setup. I found myself trying to accept cutting out the wedding arch, flowers for my cake, and to tuck into my hair to try and cut back costs. Garden Path worked with me to make sure I had extra flowers for my hair, they let me borrow their wildflower vases at no extra cost (everyone else was charging $10+ per vase rental ontop of the flower costs), and they made me a beautiful garland for my arch and supplies to hang it up myself. This worked out perfectly, and my friend was able to hang up the garland with just some nails and garden wire the morning of the wedding. The flowers the day of were so beautiful and really brought the wedding together - it was mountain wildflower inspired, and the mix of wildflowers and beautiful arrangements were the perfect touch to our outdoor wedding. I am so happy with how it turned out, and really can't thank Karen enough for making my vision come true without having to compromise! read more

Karen as a florist does well. The center pieces she arranged were beautiful, as were the bouquets. The MOB, MOG and officiant's corsages were lovely but a little too heavy for the ribbon used to tie it on the wrist. My observations were she excelled at being a florist and that is her primary focus. She was also hired to be the day of event planner for a wedding of which I was a family member of someone in the the wedding party. I haven't planned a wedding before but from my observations I would not say this is anywhere in her wheelhouse. She is simply put not a people person and dismissive of most of the tasks I would say are under her purveyance. She was rude to all of the wedding guests but unfortunately didn't stop there she extended her rudeness to members of the wedding party and other vendors. She didn't give herself enough time to setup, snapped at people to include the groom and officiant, wouldn't help when another wedding party moved into this wedding's space, left items undone and failed to meet with the officiant at any time other than 15 minutes before the rehearsal. Finally she was overheard telling someone she didn't care because she was leaving the country in 48 hours for vacation. For anyone looking for a florist Karen may be an option but I would strongly recommend against employing her as a wedding planner. read more

We hired Karen as our florist and wedding planner. Initially we liked her because she seemed like she had everything under control. I met with her several times before our wedding. She was very pushy about certain things and was less accommodating to what we envisioned. We were told we would be able to see an example of our centerpieces before the wedding, we never saw them. I was less than impressed with my bouquet. The discussion was cascading and it was literally just leaves flopping out. The day of the wedding I left a tote with all of my signs, decor, and things that needed to be laid out with a specific map. Everything was labeled with sticky notes to match the map. The shuttle sign that was supposed to be placed by the exit was placed inside in the back corner. She didn't put my kids coloring pages out and told my mom they will just fight over them (their names were on them). During the reception I had guests come up and tell me Cards and gifts were blowing away, she left them outside after the ceremony after saying she would move them. Then when I went to take my pictures, she lost my thank you sign. My cake topper was never put on the cake either. We were told we would have a fiber optic wand exit... they were glow sticks. This was disappointing as this was discussed in the 5 meetings we had before the wedding. Perhaps the most upsetting part was we had several guests say how rude she was to them. The lack of organization throughout the process was also very frustrating. All you get is a word document that just continues to be updated without knowing when it was updated or if the price was updated. Although, the floral for the head table was gorgeous and the centerpieces did turn out good. read more

Karen was an amazing florist and planner for our wedding. She gave us a detailed timeline to follow leading up to the event, which helped keep us on track. She helped organize all of the vendors to ensure our day was flawless. The bridal bouquet and bridesmaid bouquets were out of this world, and way better than we could have imagined! The colors she used, and the small details made for exceptional pictures. The centerpieces she created were very unique and fit the style we had hoped for. Even when things started to veer off course, she stepped in and made sure everything was set up perfectly and we didn't have to worry about a thing. I left a Yelp review on Garden Path in the last month, and it has since been erased by someone. I'm going to try again. I gave one star because I sent flowers to a friend for her birthday and the bouquet was lovely. The problem was that the bouquet had completely wilted by the next day and Karen had agreed to replace the bouquet. She said she would come to the recipients to deliver a new bouquet and never showed; recipient called her again and Karen said she would indeed deliver another bouquet. She never showed. My friend told me about what had happened and Karen's lack of follow through and so I called Karen twice to discuss and she didn't return my phone call. I wanted to give my business to a local florist given the pandemic situation. I left a voice mail and 2 emails for the shop to contact me as I received a notice saying that the floral arrangement was hand delivered, when it really hadn't been. The Garden Path didn't deliver it to the front door as requested because the recipient is elderly. The arrangement was eventually delivered but was left sitting on an A/C condenser on the side of the house. read more

I'll start off by saying this is the only review I've ever left for someone, but I felt very strongly about leaving this review. We hired Karen as our wedding coordinator. She initially seemed very knowledgeable and on top of things. She even said we could use her decorations as part of the coordination fee since she's paid for them several times over. It wasn't until two months before the wedding though that she started becoming very difficult to work with. Each time we went through our schedule it was like she was hearing it for the first time. She was also very pushy about certain aspects. It wasn't just that she was providing her advice, but she made it clear that she didn't like the way we were wanting things. She also changed her mind about letting us use her decorations unless we agreed to use her as our florist, which was not the original plan and we felt trapped. On two occasions, our last schedule walkthrough and the day of the wedding, she didn't know who I (the groom) was. She was very bossy during the wedding and got in arguments with the father of the bride, mother of the bride, and the photographer who are both incredibly laid back and easy to get along with. In the end, the only point of stress for my wife about the wedding was 100% Karen's doing, and I see removing stress as the primary purpose of a coordinator. My son recently received a bouquet of balloons. It was an over-the-phone/online order that was placed from a family member who is out of town. We were EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of the balloons and the choice of balloons they used. The bunch of balloons consisted of 3 Mylar & 3 Latex. The 3 latex were flat within two hours! The next problem is that the three Mylar balloons they brought/delivered were actually purchased from a local Dollar Tree!! Seriously, The Golden Path does not even use/have their own balloons! BEWARE: DO NOT use The Golden Path Co. I had a sad Birthday BOY with three flat balloons and 3 butterfly balloons. Horrible. read more

She was patient with me when I asked her to elaborate on flowers I'd never heard of, she offered great advice, heard me when I was adamant about my preferences/colors, and ultimately led me to my DJ too! I can't begin to express my level of disappointment with this company, and specifically Karen. I am writing a full review here because the space on weddingwire is not sufficient. Although we originally met with her as a florist, she sold herself as a wedding planner as well and we regretfully added that service to our contract. Huge mistake. If you want to know the issues, keep reading. Long story short, with only 30 minutes left in our wedding reception my new husband had to go and tell her to not speak to me again because I was so upset. We almost fired her in April, and looking back I wish we would have. She was the only thing that was bad about our wedding day. 1.) The Flowers: We (myself and the bridesmaids) could not take our bouquets with us for pictures before the ceremony because they needed to be in water. She actually complained to my mom that it was "my fault because I had to have certain flowers." FALSE. I went into my first floral appointment with no knowledge of flowers. None. I showed her pictures on Pinterest and she just ran with the ideas. She never explained to me which flowers would hold best for the day, how she would wrap them, etc. When she brought the flowers to my suite the bouquet stems were wrapped by only a single ribbon and they were in buckets of water. The girls and I all had to dry them with paper towels so they didn't drip on our dresses. Also, the center pieces for the reception looked terrible. They looked like they had been arranged on the fly without any thought. She had sent a sample center piece the day before and they looked so terrible then that I asked if these were supposed to be the idea for the wedding and expressed how much I did not like it. She came bolting to my room and blamed the appearance of the flowers on the staff at the hotel who delivered. Mind you, we were at the Ritz, so I highly doubt the staff did anything to mess them up. Also, without reviewing or asking us how we wanted it to look, she on her own adorned our cake with flowers that we hadn't discussed at all. Thankfully the photographer took pictures of the cake before the mass amount of flowers were put on it. 2) Unprofessional: Karen dressed in clothes at the wedding that led friends to ask "is she the janitor of the venue?". Also, when the guests were sitting down to dinner she was rude to a table of friends when they realized their table was short one seat and setting. Instead of offering to get another chair and place setting, she accused them of not sitting where they were supposed to. Another thing....I had asked her to add more ribbon to the bouquets described above so less stem was showing. She did this very unhappily and told my friend she would have to dig up what should could find in her supplies to do that. During this process, she had untied my deceased grandmother's pin that had been placed on the bouquet. She then forgot to reattach it, and I thought it was lost. She did find it, and put in my ring box, and brought it to me to open during the reception - WEIRD! 3.) Wedding Planning: I filled out 3 different questionnaire forms that were 3+ pages each and extremely repetitive. As a Type A person I can appreciate attention to detail, but I did not appreciate that even though I completed these within a timely manner, she failed to actually read them. Therefore, she wants to go over everything again verbally, ask questions, and re-writes it all herself. Karen volunteered to myself, my parents, and my future mother law in Sept 2015 to pick up and deliver our cake. She boasted about her wedding cake pick-up/delivery skills, explaining how she has taken cakes up the mountains. In April 2016 she acted as if she had never made the offer to do that. She then said would do it, but only on Thurs. That would mean my cake had to be made on Wed (3 days before the wedding) No thanks. My Mom ended up calling the baker and begging her, along with paying a hefty fee, for her to deliver it because my Mom did not trust Karen to not mess it up since she was being so difficult about having to do it on Friday, the morning of the wedding. At the rehearsal, Karen came off as completely unaware of what to do. I would have thought this was her first time directing a wedding party. She literally read the notes from the sheet (again, looking at it probably for the first time) that we had typed up. Then, at the wedding, she dismissed tables to get in line for food when the food hadn't been brought out yet. So our guests stood there. She even made her own plate before all our guests had gone through the line. 30 minutes before my reception ended to point me to a closet and start asking, "where is all this stuff going? who drove here? what vehicle can we load it into? etc...." I literally froze and then walked away to my husband and almost started crying. Why was she bothering me with questions when she sold herself to us as a planner that would handle all of the questions so no one would bother me. read more

We worked with Karen for our May wedding, as both our florist and our wedding coordinator. She has so much expertise that she provided great insight that helped our day run so much smoother! I can't imagine what it would have been like without her! She completely captured the vision we had in mind for decor and provided beautiful flowers! Let me start by saying I HATE leaving bad reviews. This is the first one I have ever had to write. But I do not want any other couple to have the experience we had. We hired Karen as our florist and day of coordinator. Our experience leading up to the wedding left us hopeful. She met with us when we had questions and always made it seem like she had our best interest in mind. Throughout the planning process, there was multiple times she would ask for the same paperwork or information she already had. However, we thought it wasn't a big deal and felt confident enough to move forward. Looking back, I wish I would've seen the red flags. The week of the wedding she sent us the final invoice which was way over our initial quote and budget so we had to make cuts in florals. She also tried to charge us for fiber optic wands (that she would keep after our day - so we would be buying them for her own stash) after she had told us she would just bring them. On the day of the wedding, I could not have been more disappointed. The bridesmaids bouquets and $300 fireplace setting were nothing like what we had talked about or the pictures I sent. Karen did whatever she wanted with them. Our decorations were also not set up the way we talked about. I spent a ton of time and money making table numbers that I told Karen needed to be put up, and they of course never were. She didn't put up half the decor we spent months creating. She wouldn't let our guests into the wedding until we greeted them, so they stood in a line awkwardly outside the venue. She was rude to everyone at the event. Almost every family member and friend came up to us and made comments about how she was treating everyone. She also started cleaning up decor at 9pm. Our event didn't end until 11. Almost everyone left by 9:30 because they felt pushed out. At the end of the night, I was left finishing cleaning up and she was no where to be found. Our high chairs got left at the venue the night of the wedding and now that we are going through things after our honeymoon, items were completely lost. It was her job as the coordinator to keep track of those items and clean up at the end of our event - not in the middle of it. I left the end of my event in tears because of Karen. She never once apologized to me. She apologized to my husband and mother that I was upset but never took responsibility or said anything to me. I am writing this review because I am heart broken that my vision for the wedding was not met because of Karen. She did well with planning beforehand and my bridal bouquet was beautiful. But if you choose to hire her, be cautious. read more

After a small misunderstanding on time frame, Karen made it right by meeting me at her shop so I could pick up the corsage and boutonniere I had ordered for my husband and daughter to wear to the Daddy Daughter Ball. The flowers were lovely and a photo of my husband tying the corsage onto our daughter's wrist will be a family keepsake for years to come! I was looking for a florist close to the wedding site of Bear Dance Golf course in Larkspur and checked out every florist in the area. Most I was not impressed with and I knew the minute I met Karen that she was who I wanted to go with. Her personality is similar to mine in that she is direct, to the point and take charge. It can be a bit overwhelming to work with a person like this so make sure you are making your desires very clear. She has a very clear path of what she thinks will work based on your initial meeting. She was willing to work with me in finding an item she did not have on hand in order to accomplish what I was trying to do. Unfortunately some of the things I purchased and left with her disappeared in the shuffle over time which was disappointing as I would have like to have gotten them back. Her designs are unique which was perfect as I was not looking for a traditional look. She has a take charge attitude the day of the wedding and makes things happen. I did not interact with her much on the day of the wedding do to the scheduling. She added an extra touch at the beginning of the aisle which was a nice surprise to me as I approached the aisle with my father. The only unfortunate thing was as I walked down the aisle I noticed that the vases and table rounds we had agreed on were not used and the ones I had really not wanted were up at the front of the aisle. It was really not the look I was going for but looked fine. I was just disappointed there was a change the day of the wedding. Karen did tell me later she had made the change due to windy conditions. The day could not have been more perfect and there was little to no wind so I am not really sure why the change was made. All in all the flowers were unique and the look was beautiful, but I had a specific look I was trying to achieve. If you choose to go with The Garden Path you will definitely have a unique and nice finished product. If there is any way to incorporate a last minute change clause, I would recommend it. We worked with Karen initially as the florist, and then as we got to know her, added her as our day-of coordinator. She was wonderful to work with!! The flowers took my breath away and were stunning for my daughter the bride, and all of the bridesmaids. The floral arrangements for the reception were spot on, and her suggestions helped us save a lot of money, to boot! She managed the venue's staff, the catering staff, the DJ, and all of the wedding party all evening long, without once being pushy or obnoxious. I went with this florist because of all the rave reviews and the person I spoke with on the phone seemed awesome. But then something happened - which I totally understand, because **** happens - and my flowers were not delivered. When I tried to call the following day, there was no answer so I left a text message since it was the weekend. I checked on things again on Monday and they were sure the flowers were delivered - but late because no one was home. When I spoke to the person who was supposed to receive the flowers, they had not been contacted by the florist nor did they receive any flowers. After going back and forth for a couple more weeks, I asked for a refund for the flowers. Now, once again it has been a couple weeks of going back and forth and nothing is happening in that area. I will just keep calling and bugging them until I get my money back. read more

This is the second time my daughter in law from NY tried to send me flowers for Mother's Day and she was trying to locate a shop closer to where we live but unfortunately came across this florist! Karen is unprofessional and rude and never returns phone calls! Last year I got them after the time she was suppose to deliver, the flowers were in bad shape! Wasn't even what they ordered! This year, same thing happened, my daughter in law ordered flowers, $90 they cost and this lady claims they tried to deliver the flowers and no one was home, maybe a small window of time but never left a note they had attempted it. My daughter in law finally called me later in the day to see if they had been delivered and no they had not. So she called and left a message on the phone and than called her on her cell and she answered but never delivered as promised. She was told they would be delivered in the afternoon on Saturday, we got home at 1 and we cancelled our plans so that there would be someone home to receive them, they never came! So I never got my flowers from my children from out of state because this woman doesn't care! She didn't even have the decency to return the phone calls or explain herself! Karen from The Garden Path is, without a doubt, the most unprofessional and difficult person I've ever met in the service industry. I will objectively list the issues below, but to condense it, she made us feel like our smaller wedding didn't matter to her business on multiple occasions and then, in the end, the flowers were neither what we asked for nor fresh. It was embarrassing to have them arrive to the venue and not be able to change anything. She was inconsiderate, and we felt her part of our big day was definitely the most disappointing. -We originally made contact April 2 via email (she found my event through Thumbtack). I noticed right away how unprofessional she was in her communication. -On a positive note, she called me that first week. She assured me our budget wasn't too small. Karen seemed excited to take our order and said it was all booked. -At the end of May, I reached out to her to see how everything was going. I made an appt. with her at her shop to bring in some vases for the centerpieces. I was asked when the wedding date was (again) which caused me to be concerned. -When I arrived at her shop the next day at the scheduled time, she was confused. She said "remind me again who you are." I explained who I was (which was odd since she's set up the time for me to come in), and she said "oh- I lost your order. When is your wedding again?" At this point, I was too close to the wedding date to fire her, so I gritted my teeth and went through all of it again. I asked her twice before I left that day how I was going to know if she'd forget or lose my order again. -July 15th was my wedding day. On July 13th, she contacted me via email in the following exchange: so i am confirming that you are picking up your flowers at shop at 9;30 on July 15! i do have another wedding delivery that day so i need to be sure that will happen at that time. we have your bouquet, a groom and son boutonierre, 2 fathers, 1 stepmom and one mother of groom in wrist corsage styling in lavendar and white and your 8 bark vases with caspia and lavendar. the total due is 349.50 if you want to call me with a credit card today we will have everything ready! -Karen had never sent us an invoice with the flower costs listed, nor did she ever let me know when the total payment was due. Writing me two days before the wedding that the payment was due that day was both surprising and off-putting. I wrote her back requesting an itemized invoice for our files and inquired if there was an online payment system we could use since we were spending the day out of town with family. She responded that she didn't do PayPal, reiterated that she needed payment that day, and that she'd send a cost breakdown. -This was the "itemized invoice" we received via email, not in a spreadsheet or any other known business finance form: your original costs were 242. with tax you added: 2 corsages 70.00 bouts for dads 37.50 107.50 total 349.50 -Who knows how the "original costs" were broken down? This is going to look great in our file. -We are out of town swimming and hiking with family in town for the wedding. I plan to call her with payment that evening. I respond that I will do so to her. I receive this email: i do need final payment today. you can call me with credit card. -At this point, I stepped out and tried to call her with a credit card for payment. She did not answer. I tried to leave a voicemail, but her system wouldn't record it. -It is now two days before the wedding, and I'm unsure if she is going to actually go through with the order. Again, it was too late to hire someone else. -I sent her an email explaining that I was trying to get ahold of her for payment. The email was never responded to. I also requested that she call me. She did not. The morning before the wedding, I finally get ahold of her to pay. -My parents were picking up the flowers for us. I was still asleep on the morning of our wedding (I had a late night with my baby not being able to sleep at the hotel). Karen wrote that no one had picked up the flowers and she needed to leave, so she was leaving them on her back porch. "i cannot take responsibility for them once i leave them outside." - that should have told me a lot. I called Karen and she reiterated this sentiment- kind of an "it's your fault," shrugging it off. My father had misheard the time and arrived 15 minutes after she supposedly left the flowers on the deck. The flowers were already ruined, since one of the boxes was left in direct sunlight. -I didn't see the flowers until I arrived at the venue that afternoon. Everyone had been very careful to keep everything refrigerated. There was no saving these wilted flowers. -I had expressed originally how much I hate roses. There were roses in my bouquet, the wrist corsages, and boutonnières. -She was rude to me on my wedding day and we're fairly sure she just gave us poor quality ones because of our smaller budget. Less than 24 hours after delivery the arrangement looked like it was over a week old, with drooping flowers and greenery and even some dead ones. I was very disappointed with the bouquet delivered to my sister after surgery. Karen offered to drop off additional flowers to improve the arrangement but never came. After 3 calls she finally apologized and offered my sister a fresh new bouquet and again never showed up. When I first called Karen, years ago, the first arrangement or two were beautiful. Since then, at least half the flowers in each arrangement are dead within a couple of days. My sister calls Karen, at my recommendation, and says specifically what she wants. Karen always say "yes, yes, we can do that" and what arrives at my house bears no resemblance to what my sister ordered. Today is my birthday. Karen promised that the flowers would arrive in the morning. It is now 5:50 pm and nothing has arrived. I can't imagine planning our wedding without Karen. We booked her over a year in advance because she was recommended by our venue and after our first visit my husband and I connected with her immediately. Although she only charged us for day of planning, she met with us at least 5-6 times leading up, and responded to all my "nervous Nancy" emails within 20 mins every time. She calmed my nerves and reassured me every step of the way. Karen also handled most of our contacts with other vendors and was the main contact so everything went smoothly. When I saw my bouquet and my bridesmaids flowers on the wedding day it brought me to tears. She took exactly what I was imagining (even though I changed the flowers I wanted a handful of times) and created the most beautiful bouquets. When we got a glimpse of the reception area and center pieces prior to guests walking in, again, brought to tears. Everything Karen did for our wedding was absolutely amazing! She also led us to our DJ (Tasos Hernandez), videographer (Mark at Simply Love), and our caterer (Buffalo Gals). All worked their magic together and the wedding was seamless!
