They were told they could bring in their own alcohol, sodas and water. However, 4 days before the wedding they were told they couldn't bring water & sodas. The guest have to pay for them their!! The bride didn't want certain decorations, but the people said they weren't moving them!! The day of the reception it was very warm in the building and especially in the VIP room upstairs. I went outside to get my bag that had my change of clothes, phone charger, meds etc... I put 4 half drank bottles of water in my bag. When I entered the building a Hispanic woman approached me and asked me what was in my bag. I started to tell her and she grabbed my bag to look inside!! How rude!! She then said I couldn't bring in my water. I asked why. She told me I had to buy the water. I told her I wasn't buying any water when I have my own. I then took my water back to my car and returned to the building. That Gestopo woman came rushing up to me to look in my bag AGAIN!! I told her that I didn't have any water! I left it in my car. She grabbed my bag and started going through it! I told her "it's my clothes, my panties, my socks, my charger & meds!" She let go and said "It's policy." I walked off and went up stairs. I told the wedding party about her. I was so mad! Around 9:00pm several of us noticed it started getting hot inside. I thought it was me, but I saw other people fanning themselves. We all came to the conclusion that the people of the place turned up the ac. They made it so uncomfortable that people were leaving. The place was rented until 1:00am!! I left after 10:30pm. It was too hot in there for me!! Did you know that this place used to be a strip club? Sure did! LOL!! Don't rent this place out.

I trusted Sara with all her great ideas and recommendations. She never made me feel pressured into something and listened to what we had in mind. She worked with rescheduling our entire event during this stressful pandemic. She did not disappoint us at all. Everything came out exactly how we imagined it would be. The staff was very helpful and respectful. My family was impressed with the food. My guest felt safe trusting the valet parking attendees. It was awesome working with Sara, she was there to help me in every step of the way. They make you feel like we are part of their family. This was by far one of the most unprofessional and disorganized venues I have ever experienced. Our…read morebook club chose this venue for our annual event because we intentionally support and highlight Black-owned businesses throughout Houston. Every other business we have partnered with has provided exceptional service and hospitality, making this experience even more disappointing. What was supposed to be a four-hour event quickly turned into a disaster when the power went out approximately two hours in. Despite the significant disruption, there appeared to be little urgency from the owner to resolve the issue or properly address the concerns of our guests. Even more troubling was the owner's behavior toward our group. A room full of women was spoken to in a disrespectful, dismissive, and aggressive manner. Rather than demonstrating professionalism and customer service during an already frustrating situation, the owner chose to respond with hostility when concerns were raised. The interaction left many of us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. To make matters worse, the police were called on our group, which felt completely unnecessary given the circumstances and only added to an already unpleasant experience. What is particularly disappointing is that I had initially been recommending this venue to a family member as a potential wedding venue. However, after witnessing the owner's behavior firsthand and experiencing the way our group was treated, I can no longer recommend this business in good conscience. This venue had an opportunity to make a positive impression, but instead it became a major letdown. Professionalism, accountability, and respect for customers should be the standard, especially when things go wrong. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I will not be returning, and I encourage others to carefully consider their options before booking this venue.

My book club hosted an event at this location, and approximately two hours into the event, the power went out. While power outages are certainly beyond anyone's control, what was completely within the venue's control was how the situation was handled. The manager informed us that a transformer had blown, yet surrounding businesses still had power, which raised concerns about the accuracy and transparency of the information we were given. Rather than communicating openly and professionally, the manager was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional toward our organizers, vendors, and authors--many of whom had traveled to Houston specifically for this event. Instead of showing empathy or attempting to accommodate guests during an unexpected situation, we were told to leave the premises immediately. To make matters worse, vendors and authors were not provided reasonable access or assistance to unload and retrieve their materials. There was no effort to work with us or offer solutions during a difficult situation. Our organization invested significant time, money, and trust into hosting this event at this venue. The lack of professionalism, customer service, and basic courtesy displayed by management was incredibly disappointing and disheartening.

They host an array of events and activities (some are free, while others are ticketed). Events and activities include live music, DJs, yoga, Zumba, and seasonal events like Winter Wonderlawn during Christmas and Lunar New Year. There are seven gardens which take up about an acre. There's signs throughout the lawn that explain the different gardens and various spaces. Sky Farm is operated by Blackwood Educational Land Institute and they focus on regenerative agriculture and cultivation of food. The Outpost can be rented for events. Yelp Houston has hosted some events at the Outpost in the past. During the summer, it gets very hot! They have quite a few covered/shaded areas and there's vendors throughout if you need water or a beverage. There's lots of seating too (both covered and uncovered). A visit to Post Houston isn't complete without making the trek up to Skylawn! The views alone are worth it!

Thumbs Up: The rooftop lawn and garden are beautiful and provide a relaxing place to enjoy the city skyline. Thumbs Up: Portions of the rooftop are dedicated to gardens that grow fresh produce, adding a unique touch to the space. Neutral: I wasn't able to determine where the harvested produce ultimately goes. I'm sure the information is available somewhere, but I don't recall seeing it during my visits. Thumbs Up: I can actually see my home from the rooftop. Thumbs Up: I've watched a few rooftop concerts from my balcony. Thumbs Up: As an added bonus, it's always entertaining to hear some of my neighbors complain about the "noise pollution" during HOA meetings. Living Downtown comes with unique advantages and occasional inconveniences. If someone can't tolerate city life, they may be happier living in the suburb provinces. Thumbs Down: Access to the rooftop is sometimes restricted during seasonal events and special art installations. I understand the need for ticketed events, but I wish general access to the public spaces could remain available whenever practical. Thumbs Down: I am able-bodied, but I couldn't help noticing that rooftop access appears difficult for visitors who use wheelchairs or have mobility impairments. The elevators are not easy to locate, and several were out of service during my many visits. Improving accessibility would make this space more welcoming for everyone.
