The building is a converted office building. They have a spacious recitation hall on the second floor. The first floor has a library, bookstore, and dining room. If you go on a Sunday morning, don't expect to be a casual observer. They'll give you a black robe, lead you to a meditation cushion, and expect you to participate in the chanting. You'll probably be the only non-Chinese, but everyone is very nice and friendly, very helpful, and very devout!. They'll even feed you lunch (vegetarian food) for free. They don't ask for donations and offer you books and CD's in addition. It was a cool and refreshing experience. The prostrations (full bows) were the hardest part--kept tripping on the robe! It helps to know something about this form of Buddhism, but it's not a requirement. You'll learn by doing!

After the lesson, a vegetarian lunch is provided free of charge (which was very good). While eating lunch, you have an opportunity to mingle with others who visit the temple. I found everyone to be very pleasant and open to answ ering any questions that I had. In addition to the temple, there is also a very nicely stocked library which is divided into two sections. The one section offers a variety of books, CD's, DVD's, and other print material to anyone who wishes to learn free of charge. The other section provides a variety of material that can be checked out and then returned. Donations are accepted, but they are not required (they are tax deductible if made however). No one at the temple solicited anything from me besides my willingness to learn and to participate in the discussions and other activities. Overall I was very happy with my experience at the temple, the people, and I plan on returning next weekend. I would definitely recommend this temple to anyone who wishes to learn about Buddhism.

Tzu Chi is a Buddhism charity foundation from Taiwan. They do tons of fantastic charity works and volunteer events in Texas through hurricane seasons. For us, we support the vision and also the food they create. All the money would go back to the community so please please come by for their fund-raising events by buying delicious vegetarian Taiwanese food. The predominant demographic is mature, "golden age" believers. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are released through the congregation in a free, but very orderly manner. Recently even though the rest of us weren't members of the church, they offered a beautiful funeral service for my brother Robert and then again for my mom just 3 weeks ago. As a kindness to my brother David & his wife Rhonda they didn't charge us for either and went to great lengths to provide comfort to our family during and after the service. This is a true Christian community with an absolute southern heart. I have to go back home to California but I am happy to know this true place of Christ will continue to thrive.

Such a beautiful place .. I attended a food festival a couple of months back (during the summer )…read moreand i had the opportunity to enjoy some of the best authentic street Asian food ever . I also got to take a look of gorgeous pictures of and with the buddah statues. Parking was plenty and easy and I appreciate that it wasn't too crowded and the lines weren't too long . It was fairly hot , with not too many shaded spots to sit at . Of course food and heat brings flys and other bugs. Overall I enjoyed myself and look forward to attended the many other festivals that are to come.
