Showed up and checked in at 7:35 for a 7:40am haircut with the owner. He had someone in the chair but said hello and didn't mention that he was running behind. I figured maybe he's wrapping up or running a few minutes behind, not a big deal. Around 35 minutes after my scheduled appt he finishes the previous customer and it's my turn. I should have just left but I needed the cut, which came out ok. I won't go back because I don't agree with making someone wait over half an hour without telling them you decided to seat someone right before a scheduled appt. read more

But I've been to a lot of different barbers over the years due to moving around a lot and my girlfriend said I got the best haircut she's ever seen me get when I first went to go see him. My son has been going to Getaway for a few months now and loves it. The price is very reasonable and by reasonable I mean cheap! He gets his hair cut by Sam and is able to go online and book an appointment for a fairly quick time, within a day sometimes. I've taken him to several hair stylists before we found Getaway and they have ruined his hair but with Sam, he showed him a photo of what he wanted and got exactly what he asked for and has been happy and a return customer since. Their location is inside the OC Mix so I drop him off and go to Portola Coffee or Sunbright Boba to hang out while he's getting his hair cut. There's also a Tesla Supercharger nearby if you need to charge while getting your haircut and coffee fix! read more

Had the fortune of getting my haircut by Alex a few times recently (after going to the same person for about 7 years) and it was one of the best experiences I have had in a long time. Was leaving south coast after trying on my tux and realized the hair and tux combo just wasnt going to cut it and wanted to get it cut immediately. Had the pleasure of finding Alex after searching online for a barber. I am always skeptical getting my haircut because the majority of the time they mess it up even after i tell them what and how i am looking to get my hair cut. Alex did an amazing job. You can tell he has a passion to cut hair and it showed in his technique and attention to detail. You know he has skills when he basically did a slight fade for me with just scissors (keep in mind i been growing my hair out since covid started so a fade was not simple). Normally it take me a week after some hair grows out for me to start to agree with the hairstyle but right away i was very happy. I was looking for an early morning barber shop to help fit my schedule and stumbled upon getaway. My experience here has been amazing each time. Craig is super cool, and right away you can tell hes very passionate about his work. Personally i suffer from severe scoliosis and lean to one side, and usally going to a barber is pretty nerve racking since i never know how they will react and ive had some bad experiences in the past, but craig was super cool about it and made the whole experience for me way more enjoyable. I will say im also not super knowledgeable on styles and almost always never even know what to tell a barber what I want, but craig was super helpful and informative, he explained a vision for my beard and hair in very easy to understand way and he executed it amazingly.
