Roast of lamb with mashed potato

Husband and I went here on our anniversary and we're not disappointed. They thankfully fit us in without a reservation and the other reviews were spot on. The food was delicious, the wait staff was phenomenal and very friendly and the food came out relatively quick for how busy they were. The adult beverages were also very tasty! Thanks for a great last meal in Belfast before we headed out to our next destination in the morning.

Lovely environment, staff is super friendly and welcoming and the food is unbelievable! It's a must!

Shrimp & filet beef

The food was excellent!! I had the beef, which was tender and tasty accompanied with a soft, fluffy mashed potato. I also recommend the tender lamb chops! Fireworks in your mouth. Dessert was decadent! Service was great too and easily found a table for 4 without reservations.

Lamb with a side of mash... delish!

Pretty good little place. A bit hard to find from the street as there is no sign directly on the main store front on the street. However, look for a large glass front with seats on the inside. Tasty little menu, very farm to table. If you're looking for authentic Irish food this is not the place to go. However it was good. I started with the French onion soup which came with a side of soda bread. It was very good and served piping hot. For my main course I had the lamb dish with a side of mashed potatoes. Again very tasty. While I certainly enjoyed my meal, ext time I pass through Belfast I would like to try something authentic.

We came to Belfast first time and found this place just by chance. Since we did not have reservation the host let us sit on the counter looking directly into the kitchen. It was such a great show to see all the chefs preparing food. It was just like the Iron Chef show on TV. We actually ordered different dishes to see how they were cooked. My favorite was dessert chef whose Banana Tarte Tatin was melt heavenly with each bite. The creme brûlée was torched to perfect brown, I called it a pyrotechnic cooking. The foods were great. All the three waitresses including ours were very attentive. It was I should say Irish charm From California USA we gave this place a full 5 stars

Tempura of asparagus with Asian salad (from the dedicated vegetarian menu)

I've been wanting to try Ginger Bistro for ages and managed to do so last night. I was delighted to discover they offer a full dedicated vegetarian menu and even more impressed when I spotted a couple of vegan options listed as well. The restaurant itself is charming, cosy, quirky and inviting with beautiful art hanging on sunny yellow walls, wooden flooring, warm lighting and an open kitchen so you can watch the Chefs work their magic. It has a relaxed atmosphere but also feels like a special, luxurious place to dine. The two gentlemen who served us were friendly, helpful and chatty without being intrusive - I would rate the service as the best I've experienced in any restaurant. I ordered a starter of asparagus tempura with Asian salad which was fresh and tangy, main of sweet potato and chickpea fritters on a deliciously mild creamy spinach curry and a luscious melt in the middle chocolate pudding with fresh strawberries, raspberries and cream for dessert. My dinning partners shared a starter of breads with tapenade which I sampled and would highly recommend for the fresh taste and exceptionally generous portion - literally a huge basket of individual baked breads. The food was out of this world in terms of quality and taste. It was utterly delectable. In my party of four people every one of us thought it the best food we have tasted in a very long time. We enjoyed our dining experience at Ginger Bistro so much that we are already planning a return visit. If you haven't been I'd recommend you try it, as a meal here makes for an exceptionally enjoyable evening out. This is exactly how a restaurant should be - Ginger Bistro is absolutely perfect in every way.

Outstanding seafood chowder and the crispy sea bass was equally tasty. Service was prompt, pleasant ,and attentive. Atmosphere in keeping with a bistro. Bathrooms clean. Definitely recommend.

I have never had a bad meal in Ginger, which is as high praise as you can get in my book! Some places are hit and miss, but not here. I haven't been for ages at night as I usually forget until the last minute and then they are booked up, but getting in at lunchtime is much easier. It is also half the price, approximately £12 for a main course but not half the care! They are licensed and although I don't know much about grapes, I know the girls and I have consumed more bottles of the house white than I care to admit to. If you are in the area this cosy spot is the best you'll get near the Golden Mile.

Very good service and food. Really one of the best places in Belfast. Try squids and also warm tiger prawn salad.

Barking Dog Restaurant - beef shin burger is definitely not your average burger

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.

It seems weird that I haven't yet reviewed Solo, this is because I have always attended events at…read moreSolo and not actually had a genuine meal experience, that is until yesterday... The interior of Solo is sophisticated, without being overly fancy - this is a good thing, it has a real feeling of diversity - you get the impression that you could go in and feel comfortable having a meal in jeans and a T-shirt as well as a business suit. There's a real warmth to the staff, they always engage in a wee bit of banter and are always on hand to help you out with a smile. The menu is diverse, you can have Asian style food, Tapas or classics like a burger. Yesterday I opted for a starter of Salted Chili Chicken and I think I convinced most of my table to join me. The salted chili chicken is truly amazing, it's gourmet style so get the idea of a takeaway out of your head. The flavours are epic and the the dip on the side compliments the chicken perfectly. For main I went for a steak sandwich, when ordering I was asked how I wanted my steak cooked, even by asking this question it shows the chef has real pride in his food regardless of what it is! The steak came out cooked exactly to my specification, it was accompanied by a a side salad and rustic chips - perfect for what I wanted! Solo is the type of place that you could easily lose track of time in, it's got that stay bar type feel. If you're looking for somewhere for a big group then look no further the staff are easily capable of dealing with large groups! Top notch all round!

Well, well, well haven't Maze rebranded themselves well and now shine as Solo restaurant! I visited…read moretonight as part of a Yelp Secret Supper Event and was delighted with the service, wine, cocktails and gorgeous Vegetarian food I received. We were greeted on arrival with a glass of Sangria swimming with fresh, tangy fruit. I dined on a beautiful Vegetarian tapas platter of deep fried mozzarella sticks in sweet chilli sauce, bruschetta, olives, sundried tomatoes, manchego cheese and toasted almonds - pure lush (as per usual all my Carnivore friends were green with envy hahahahaha)! Dessert was a trio of cheesecake, rich chocolate pot and a chocolate torte. Wine wasn't too bad either, cocktails fabulous, service attentive and staff delightful. Will definitely be returning to Solo soon and am looking forward to my next visit. Plus the decor and atmosphere of this restaurant is modern and luxurious. Would highly recommend Solo as it's now a sensational spot.
