Stayed in this hotel as we had an appointment early the next day. The check in staff was friendly and very efficient. The hotel was clean, and comfortably welcoming with a few seating arrangements that encouraged patrons to settle in and relax for a few. Our room was very pretty but a little dated, and this is the first hotel room I've ever used that had (fake) hardwood floors instead of carpet. Overall, another good stay. Room 501 in the tower this time. Not updated...yet. No handy outlets in bedside light or on the desk. Hallways have failing wallpaper border I noticed on the 6th floor as well. Upside for me, I got the latest checkout time ever... and I don't need it this time!! Oh the irony. Still no microwave in room. :( But, fridge, and little coffee maker, iron & board, luggage rack. Black light sweep was average. Black light shows drapes need laundering - that's not something I thought I'd see. Black light also revealed that the carpet had some areas needing cleaning. But! Bed was clean. Quiet enough, although the #01 rooms are right beside the elevator lobby and some yahoos don't get that. Another toilet leaking - I think it's likely that they have all aged and many it's just time to have the guts replaced. This time I was smart enough to shut off the water to the toilet *before* going to bed! Yes! Rods to close drapes missing or broken. Still flimsy and too short for a 5'0 tall human to use when reaching over furniture. Forces a person to grab the drape, which causes premature wear. TV remote doesn't have a sleep feature I could find, seems typical of most of the rooms I've had lately. Towels were great. Shower water pressure at 8am fluctuated a bit. Koehler shower head nice but spray a little light to get shampoo out of thick hair. Kudos for the hair dryer! It was a rocket! Great new little Andis unit. Luggage carts have solid wheels. Never flat. Thank goodness with all the stuff I have to shuttle. Dining in the Café was reliable and gluten free available. Check out my Carving Board review for the low down. Front desk staff helpful and great to deal with. Sandy has become an excellent member of the team. :-) I met her when she first started learning the ropes. I have pet allergies, my Company booked me in with Expedia and when I asked for a pet free room (tower) they said sorry we cannot change your room. There are two parts to this inn, the new that is the tower and the Old, that has only two stores. The old is where they keep the pets and it seems the partying people. I have never stayed overnight at the Glenmore Inn and Convention Center, but I have attended their conference center for trade shows. Also, very young in my career, I also had a part time job there in catering. Yes, among my limited talents, inlcludes carrying 3 plates with one hand. Seriously ;) Lets talk about their conference space first. My perspective is one of an attendee. I have not organized an event there, but as an attendee, there were some obvious pluses that i wanted to mention. 1. The atrium there is beautiful. It is starting to balance on the cusp of dated, but there are a lot of plants there that give a zen feeling when you walk into that space. 2. The trade shows that I attended were primarily in the arena of independent small business expos, and the space was perfect for these types of shows. It was well laid out, in a nice space. 3. There is ample parking there. Bonus! 4. Access is extremely easy for me, since I am in the general area in Riverbend. However, my belief is that this space would be convenient for "most", because it has easy access from Glenmore, which in essence also translates to easy access from Deerfoot. So those are main arteries from many locations in this city. Back to my catering days there, I cannot speak for the Glenmore Inn today, but based on the experience 15+ years ago, they did actually care, so I have to assume that they do today. It was a flexible part-time job, but when you were there, you were expected to work and take care of customers. Needless to say, when working there, I ate a lot of meals there. They do hire chefs there (as opposed to cooks), and the food was always good according to my palate back then. They also had a wide variety of spaces for people to rent. I have worked both big and small weddings there in a variety of spaces. This is not a high-end venue, where you would waffle between the Palliser and the Glenmore Inn. However, for its location and services, it is worth taking a look at. I can't speak for any of the guests experiences, but I do know as someone who worked there a long time ago, they do care (or at least they did at that time). It was a good experience as an employee, and it is a look at the back end of how they work. Further, they are a good corporate citizen (which I know is always worth mentioning). The Glenmore Inn has donated on more than one occassion to charitable events that I have organized, so they do their part to support Calgary charities as well. read more

As my fiance & I shopped around for wedding locations, it was only natural that we stopped into Glenmore Inn. They are known in Calgary for being one of the most convenient hotels in Calgary for weddings. It is a big part of the event business for them. Glenmore Inn is an all-inclusive wedding venue. For a single fee, you are covered for the location, food, alcohol, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's very convenient, as you are not running around paying a bunch of different people. But it's also not cheap. Our estimate worked out to around $80/person. Not exorbitant, but not inexpensive either. When we went to sit down with their wedding coordinator, it was a really great experience. She was very thorough and asked all the right questions. They are able to accommodate the ceremony, which you will quickly discover is not the same for all hotels. They usually have their ceremonies in their restaurant, which is open and nice enough that it would actually look really nice. In the end, we decided that the price, location (we were looking for somewhere downtown or further north), and room didn't fit what we were looking for. But as I've mentioned before, the people you deal with should define your choice. And the event coordinator we dealt with was fantastic. If you're looking for a wedding venue, you really can't go wrong with Glenmore Inn. read more

We stayed here this weekend because it was close to the venue for our friend's wedding. The hotel wasn't terrible, but... the whole experience was disappointing. They told us when we booked that check in was at 4pm, and seemed pretty inflexible about that on the phone, even though when we got in at 11 it was no problem checking in. We were told that the hotel has a deal with a cab company for a flat rate to the airport, but didn't tell us we had to arrange that in advance. They don't have conditioner in the rooms, only shampoo. Front desk staff were very unhelpful regarding local directions. Check out time is noon, but our keycards for our room weren't working around 11:30 after we got back from coffee in the restaurant downstairs. And the dishes in the hotel restaurant weren't clean. My friend was given a water glass with egg or something in it. Dirty glasses and bad customer service seemed to be the norm in Calgary this weekend, unfortunately. read more

After spending 2 nights here earlier in the week and having the all time worst room service during that's time, we attempted to spend one more night there tonight. We arrived at 1:00 am only to be turned away with our US Visa Debit cards as we were tod by the management they couldn't run preauths on out debit cards?? I have traveled extensively in the US and Canada and never been turned away with my Visa Debit card. We left upset and ended up at the Blackfoot where they treated us the way customers deserve to be treated. I found the Glen ore to be outdated as well as overpriced for what we got. I went for sunday brunch with my father. It had a very nice set up and was nice and cool in the seating area. Being the end of stampede the place wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. We were sat immediately and coffee and juice was poured as soon as we sat, our coffee lady was very attentive and kept refilling my fathers cup, even when he wasn't around. Food: Its a buffet.. so I kind of knew what to expect. The sausages and bacon were rubbery and they eggs were obviously powdered, but the hash browns were really good. Dad went and got a waffle and then asked what kind of eggs benny they were offering. The gentleman who was working the station clearly didn't speak english and asked dad if he wanted pancakes. Dad just shook his head and walked away in frustration. I had some fruit and little desserts to finish off which were really good. And it wear a nice time with my dad. Overall the experience was good. But they need to improve on their food rotation so food doesn't get cold and rubbery. Also i'd recommend putting a person who speaks fluently in english to man the station where they actually have to talk to people. read more

Stayed at the Glenmore Inn as it was recommended to me by the organizers of a course I attended nearby. The area it is located in looks sketchy - I don't know Calgary very well, but there seems to be an absence of people in this area at night. When we came to check in, the front desk person looked at my reservation as if I had just plunked down the two tablets of the 10 commandments. After staring with awe, making photocopies, and conferring with his superior, he admitted they did not have my reservation on their system. He seemed to be doing quadratic equations in his head for about 20 minutes when he decided to test the revolutionary idea of looking at the 2nd name on the reservation - this name WAS on their system, so he was able to get each of us a room. Room was comfortable, flat screen TV and free WIFI made up for the fumble at the front desk, and the Globe & Mail in the morning was a nice surprise. Restaurant wad short-staffed. Noted on the menu "no substitutions", which I translate to "we don't aim to please". Luckily, I'll eat anything and my skillet was quite good. Overall, the place is quite dated, staff was mediocre, but it didn't seem like there was another hotel in the immediate area and it had the flat screen TV and free WIFI, so for the price paid, I'd say it was good value and I'd probably stay there again when I'm back in Calgary for another course. read more

We go here for the dinner buffet every once in a while. It's not gourmet exquisite meals, but it's very good for the price. Lots of salad bar items, and desserts to choose from. The dinner usually consists of either rice or potato, vegis, roast beef and a pasta. Soup too. They change it up a bit but this is the usual gist. For us, it's great that there's always something I can feed to a toddler and can be easily mashed up for baby. I've always left satisfied anyways, and the service has always been friendly and helpful (and we've gone about once every one or two months for the past few years). Great little place. read more

Came here for a company Christmas party. Glenmore did an awesome job of dinner & providing a beautiful room for us all to party in. The highlight though was the most awesome coat check girl ever!! Laura found my phone that I had left on the counter...she kept it safe for me until I realized it was missing....as you can imagine I was in a state of panic & she knew it was mine as soon as she saw me and promptly returned it. I am so thankful & impressed this young lady is so honest. Glenmore you have one awesome employee-- give this girl a raise!!! Get Married here!!! Oh my lanta last Friday I got married at the Glenmore inn, and I have to say these people working here are amazing. Cindy helped me through every single detail eased all of my worries answered all of my questions and was AMAZING. The price for 110 people was 10,000. including dinner, dj, bar, and all! The food was amazing too, they even have someone to bring you your food. And after the party is over they supply a room included for you and your spouse to stay.. For all enclusive they do more than a bang up amazing epic job making your day smooth sailing... The staff here were amazing I could not have asked for more. If I ever have another big function they will be my first choice! read more

We ate at The Garden court on Sunday night at 5PM for a brunch. We were served by Heidi. Awesome server. She looked after us, very well, great humor. Very impressed with the value of the hotel. All recently remodeled, polite staff and a reasonable price. Due to the short length of my stay I didn't get the chance to try the pool, fitness room or any of the restaurants but I did attend a catered event that was extremely well catered. I have stayed in the glenmore inn and have brought my nephews with me . this place saved my sanity. Food was delishish and waitress was nice. Basically a good restaurant. And great pool with waterslide for kids (and me ). Kids loved it. A great place for a gatawy with kids. Had lots of fun. Will return soon. We have been to the buffet at Glenmore quite a few times, however it has steadily gone downhill. Went with the family for the Easter Brunch. Waited 20 minutes and then told our table had been ready the whole time and we knew about it (?). Then split our party into 2 round tables instead of our usually long one. Very crowded. Very few choices for food. Eggs were good with choice of scrambled, omelette or eggs benedict, however very few salad choices, seafood area not on ice, most of the dessert plates were empty by the time we got there. Service was terrible with plates piling up on tables. No refill offered for coffee. Gratuity added automatically. Discount provided to 2 members of the family, the rest charged full price. When asked why they would not have give the discount to our whole group because of the issues, we were advised "they come here more often", in other words they could care less about the rest of the group. Was told today-- May16-2011 that they screwed up and overbooked., and there would be no room available and that was that My wife is a higher up in the organization that is having the the convention. We do lunch here sometimes. Fridays are better than the other days. Used to be much better now very bland and service have gone down. Construction doesn't help business I'm sure but I think lots of people come here just for the food but not so impressed as before. Hope you get better. read more
