It is also an excellent place to prepare your child for Kindergarten so they won't go in overwhelmed and scared. At home we can provide structure and learning tools but it just isn't the same as a true school environment. My son gets excited to see his teachers & his friends. He looks forward to gardening, dance parties and art projects. His overall growth has also jumped leaps and bounds from when he first started last year. So much so we extended his hours from half to full day! We also LOVE that the classes are small & the teachers build a close relationship w/ every child. Touring other schools was quite scary seeing kids screaming and overwhelmed staff. I can assure you Peppermint Tree is not and never will be that way! You also have a built in Summer Camp w/ 2 pools to accommodate all age groups. Did I mention swimming lessons, class trips, gardening, ice cream days, etc? All those things are either part of class or an option to add on. So if you are on the fence about where or if you are going to enroll your child, Peppermint Tree is definitely the Best Choice!

This was their time to eat and sleep! Their naptime was 2 hours. So, if you want your 4.5 year old toddler to go to summer camp and nap for 2 hours this is your place. There were no other activities as promised on the schedule we were emailed to before camp began. The schedule showed that they were going to do arts, science and so many fun things. When I asked if he was doing any of these things I was told by his teachers that most of these were happening during his pool time. Really? Isn't the establishment's responsibility to ensure that all groups get to do these "fun things?" Why should a 4.5 yr old eat and sleep from 12 pm - 3 pm. There is plenty of time for his "teachers" to read books, engage them in fun/educational activities while they're inside. So really, all that money we paid for was only for 2 hours (run around in the playground and use the pool). Our child didn't learn anything, there were no educational activities as the written schedule showed, and we basically paid for 5 hours, 3 out of which were eat and sleep! I don't recommend this place whether it is for summer camp or as a daycare. Unless you want to use it as a babysitting place, sure, then it's fine. Just don't expect your child to learn here...

He started the school at 17 months and went on and off until he was 4. In MY OPINION the director should not be working with children because she has no personality and is rude. The owner has a god complex and allows prayer in her school without knowledge to the parents. She called me about a post on MY private facebook page regarding that and informed me it was her school and she can do whatever she wants. She actually called and yelled at me! And then when asked how she saw it she told me it wasn't important. I cant help but wonder is she promoting teaching our kids to not be forthcoming as well?I saw a younger teacher grab a student and throw him into the chair for not keeping his shoes on. I went to the owner whose response was "that doesn't sound like her." One day at drop off I heard my sons teacher telling another child (age 2) to tell his mother to stop sending breakfast because breakfast time was over. He was 2!!! The school always smells like urine. Totally outdated. It was never the same teacher from drop off to pick up and there was NEVER a daily sheet. I never had any idea how his day went. I got a call one day from the school to pick my son up he was running a fever. When I got there he was sleeping. I asked the teacher how long he slept and she told me "he woke up for a minute screaming and woke up the entire class." Was she kidding me? I saw a picture of my son on the wall one day in the class with a random jacket on, when I asked they said it was pulled from lost and found!! HE HAD HIS OWN COAT!!!! I was disgusted. Most of the teachers have zero certification and are literally pulled off the street. I know this because I personally know one the teachers and she has no training and has popped pain killers while on the clock. The owner talks down to everyone and is extremely condescending., She seems to think we all work for her, when in reality... you work for the parents and children that pay and trust you. I strongly recommend searching for another school. My son is now in a school that we absolutely love. It was a blessing in disguise that MY post landed in her hands. I strongly recommend checking the schools public reports, which they have received derogatory marks for because a teacher didn't know how many students she had on the playground as well as others. Better schools are out there!

It saddens me that after nearly 2 years at OKA, my child was a victim of continued biting incidents…read morefrom the same student that were not properly addressed by OKA staff. Let me preface by stating that I understand this situation is regarding a two year old child who is learning right from wrong, my main concern lies in management's lack of transparency and failure to appropriately communicate and uphold any policy related to the repeated incidents that compromised my child's safety. Our child suffered bites to the face, both arms and hands by the same child on 4 different occasions. When the behavior first arose, my child was in the toddler level classroom and I was told by the school that there was a zero tolerance policy for this behavior once the behavior was displayed in the preschool level classroom. When it happened a second time and in the preschool classroom, I was then told that the policy was now a 3 strikes policy (a policy that was not documented in their handbook and is still not reflected on their website which has a 2020 version of the handbook currently listed). On the same occasion, the teacher informed us that the bite left no mark, until we requested a photo and only then she said said "When looking at it now you can see a small mark." When it happened again, the student was temporarily suspended. But at pickup on the day of the most recent incident, the director pulled me aside and asked me if my wife would meet with the mother of the child who was doing the biting. She then inappropriately requested that I as her father not be present during this meeting since she felt this situation would be best discussed between mothers. She told me that we needed to have more empathy and understanding for the personal situation of the child doing the biting, however we were shown a clear lack of empathy for our child who was the continued subject of the biting. In this conversation I was made aware by the director herself that this child had recently bitten another student, which meant that with my daughter's newest bite, this student was already beyond the three strikes. However because the other child's family (who's parent is an OKA staff member) was willing to give the biter a "free pass", it did not count towards the three strikes. When I voiced concerns about the exception of the three strikes policy to the director, and that it left the door open for my child and others to be harmed, I was berated by her and told that my wife and I were gaslighting her. After 4 incidents and repeated failure by the school to properly address the situation, we made the decision to take matters and our daughter's safety into our own hands and withdraw her from the program. I've never experienced this level of unprofessionalism in my life, and especially by someone who is supposed to be caring for my child. The state really should look into this school with a fine tooth comb and parents should proceed with extreme caution before considering sending their child here, as policies directly related to child safety are inconsistently applied by management.
