July 2025 - Mona's Boutique and Tailoring is the biggest rip-off place I have ever encountered. I brought my mother of the bride dress there to be altered and hemmed. When I went back, I was not happy with the length, but she hurried me out and said it was perfect. She charged me a total of $730 for alterations and hemming. After trying it on a few times at home I was still not happy with it, I decided to get a second opinion. I brought it to another tailor in Brick, and they told me Mona ruined the dress. It was not until I went to this second tailor did I realize what a terrible job Mona did for a ton of money, $730. This was a $1500 dress. Mona cut the lace when she was not supposed to. The top of the dress was a botched job. Also, Mona did not take it in correctly around the hip area. Basically, the new tailor must totally re-do the dress again from start. I was so upset but the new tailor is going to do their best to fix it for me for a total of $250. When going back to Mona she was very unprofessional and nasty and would not listen to a word I said. She told me the new tailor was going to ruin the dress on me. Mona just yelled and screamed at me and kicked me out. I would never want anyone else to experience this. I was naive and did not know any better and I got screwed. Please be careful and do not go to Mona's Boutiques and Tailoring. Please do your research. read more

Went to this shop with my daughter who needed her bridesmaid dress altered. My daughter is very thin and ordered the smallest size xs. When my daughter tried the dress on and came out of the dressing room Mona looked at the dress on her and said that it was too much material to take in and told her to order a size smaller. She did not care that it was the smallest size possible. If she was truly a seamstress she would have taken in the dress where it was needed but I guess it was too much work for her and she did not want to do it. Wonderful work and so reasonably priced! Mona is a true professional and I will bring all my future alterations to her.

The only reason Mona's gets a 2 is because they were accommodating for a last minute request, and were nice people. That being said... don't go here for a last minute requests. I needed alterations on my wedding gown 3 weeks before my wedding. I printed out specific alteration instructions given by the dress maker, which they ignored. I got my dress back 5 days before the wedding and it was BAD. The issue (gaping in the chest area) was not fixed AND they made stitches that were visible through the tulle front panel. They ripped a hole in the front panel too. When confronted, they said "Those were there before" and proceeded to cover it up by stitching over the beautiful tulle panel. Had to go elsewhere to get it fixed (and paid over $300). If you need last minute alterations, make sure you find someone who will do them on you or at least will tell you exactly what they plan to do. read more

I will never go here again. I was charged $75 (and she's cash only) for a hem. My mom had to pick my dress up since I couldn't make it and when I got it and tried it on it looked like a 6 year old hemmed it. My bridesmaid dress was 3 layers, satin & 2 tool layers . You can clearly see the satin one where she sewed over the material that flipped up. On the 2 layers of tool all she had to do was cut it and she couldn't even do that. Left a "tail" and the entire bottom was jagged. I had to have another girl in the bridal party fix it, she not only cut it straight but actually took another 2 inches off because I was tripping it was still too long. I attempted to take it back but she was on vacation. I'm shocked she is still in business. read more

Mona's Boutique is wonderful. After a long day of prom dress shopping (and not having any luck) we stopped in as we passed it on the way home. Mona was very helpful! She asked what my daughter was looking for. After my daughter explained, Mona walked around the store and grabbed a few for her to try on. Mona found "the dress"!!!! Mona just completed alterations on my daughter's prom gown. She did an amazing job and her prices are very competitive. She is a lovely woman and at this time of the year, (May) - she is VERY BUSY. She has so many gowns ready for pickup for proms, weddings etc. I see some previous customers were annoyed that she may have turned away their hemming jobs. But with her skill set and the demand for more difficult gown alternations, I appreciate her honesty that she has more difficult jobs to take care of. While in her shop she had customers calling asking for a gown alteration in 3 days. Be reasonable people! Realize she is a small business and she is an artisan. I would give 10 stars if I could. Mona saved the day! My zipper broke on my dress on Monday that I needed for Friday. I was panicked because the tailor I normally use is closed Mondays. So I went to Mona and she not only fixed my zipper, but also fixed the hem. The other tailor made the underlay longer then the overlay of lace, not cute. And she didn't even charge me additional for it. I will only go to her from now on and will recommend her to everyone! Can I also mention how sweet she is? She is such a pleasure to deal with, it's like visiting your favorite aunt when you go there. read more

If you are a bride in the Ocean County area, Mona is a must for alterations! My wedding dress was purchased off the floor from a sample sale and had some minor flaws. She was able to fix and even enhance my gown. Her prices were extremely reasonable and the turnaround time was about two weeks. She steamed my gown before leaving and even offered to come back closer to the wedding to steam my top skirt and veil. Highly recommend!! read more

I went here to get my prom dress altered, it came out to $350 and after I went I asked 3 other places the maximum price and they said 250 AT MOST so obviously Mona saw a teenage girl come in with this expensive dress and thought that she could over charge me, I got my dress altered and it came out way to long and then the second time I went back it was so short you could see my feet! The dress felt crooked when I put the bustle on and there were tears and missing beads all over my dress and when I asked her to add beads she didn't so I will never come here ever again, and you shouldn't either, save yourself the trouble! I have been here twice. The first time she altered it perfectly and it cost around $40. The second time, she hemmed the bottom too short by almost an inch and the top still didn't fit. She charged $200 to hem the bottom and shorten the halter, but to shorten the halter she just sewed in a piece of string in another spot. read more

Brought my wedding dress here (after my wedding day) to be cleaned and hemmed (for a reception being held a period after the ceremony), and had a great experience. The shop's namesake, Mona, is a lovely, polite, professional lady. She charged a fair price to remove stains from the front of the dress, clean the filthy bottom (it was a tad long on the wedding day and I happened to walk all over it...), and hem it a good 2-3 inches after a fitting. I will definitely be returning here to get formal clothes and even regular clothes dry cleaned as needed. read more

I would absolutely recommend Mona's Tailor Tuxedo & Dry Cleaners! I went to Mona's for adjustments to my wedding gown. Mona was extremely nice. She created bustles in a timely manner and also steamed my gown for free. When I went back for my second fitting, I decided to get crinoline for my gown. This screw up the bustles. So Mona re-did them again for free! What a great person!!! Now my gown looks perfect thanks to her! Horrible, Stay away! Went to pick up my daughters prom dress. Dress had a small train in the back (hence the word had), hem noticably uneven, lining hanging out, and dresss was coverd in llint. Brand new $350 dress looks old. I made her fix it while we waited. She huffed and puffed the whole time. Blamed the dress, not her lack of ability. She did not apologize, made me pay the full $55 CASH (cash only business) for the hem. She had the nerve to tell incoming customers that it was an emergency alteration. No!!!!! It was a fix for a bad alteration that was still bad. Oh and did I mention she could not run out of the shop fast enough when she was done with us. So upset. read more

mona was not very nice at all. went there a couple of times and was told to go somewhere else for alterations as it was not worth her time and she would not make enough money. it only involved hemming. will never gp there again but I did find a very good place and have had them do a lot of altering for me in a pleasant manner. read more
