Picking and choosing their enrolled children? Or are they racist? Advance warning - long post I am (or use to be) a huge Goddard School fan. My first born went to two Goddard Schools, in #NorthBrunswickGoddardSchool and #BranchburgGoddardSchool. As I was expecting my second born, I obviously turned to one as well which is near my work. Also a current co-worker has one of there children currently enrolled and soon to be expecting her second one soon. So with no question asked, my husband and I (with another co-woker) went to take a tour of this facility. We were looking for January/February (2018) enrollment but was told there was a waiting list and the next availability would be in March 2018. I asked if there is anything we could do to ensure our spot for March, and was told by the owner Laura that taking a tour would put our name on the wait list automatically, nothing else needed. I went above and beyond with my work to get a delay start of March so my New Born could go to the Goddard school as preferred. I recently called at the end of November to ensure my son's guaranteed spot for March was still available. First, I spoke with the director, who was very standoffish on the phone. She informed me there wasn't any spots available until April 2018 now. I was SHOCKED! I had asked for the director, Laura who at that time was not available. Few days later, I had called back to speak with her and left her a msg. She left me a voice mail, stating "my director had informed you about everything already, if you are still unsure give me a call back." She's lucky that I did not hear that voicemail until I had called her back already, otherwise she would have gotten a piece of my mind. When I called back, Laura informs me that the next availability is early Spring, once I asked what that means she says Early May!!! I was very disappointed. Still keeping my composure, I had asked how is that possible and when was anyone going to inform me about this change..? I had sacrificed my maternity leave to ensure my son had a spot in March. She stated during the time of the tour that they would contact us when a spot was available a deposit was not needed because the tour was sufficient. The story changed when I inquired further. She explained that we do not call to let you know, if you want to ensure your spot, you need to put in a deposit." I was stunned! I told her that this is new and this information was not told. I continued on by saying that I had specifically asked her about a deposit and had brought my checkbook as well to make one. Her response was, "I apologize if you did not understand me, but this is how we have been doing it for past 23 years, this is nothing new." (talk about customer service people!) Biting my tongue and keeping my chin in mind, I had asked her if she could email me the enrollment paperwork since I wanted to have a guaranteed spot for next availability, I would try to drop it off or drop it in the mail with check etc. Now, 24 hours later, the next day, I have NOTHING! Not a single paperwork in my email inbox. Later that day, I had confirmed with both my husband and my co-woker who went with us to confirm if I was having a Pregnancy Brain and totally misunderstand her during the tour of having a spot available in March and tour is sufficient enough OR she did NOT mention any deposit? Both confirmed my understanding. So clearly Laura, you had provided me with wrong info and two other people confirms it. To make this even more interesting, my co-worker whom I recommended this place to, took a tour, and during the tour, she was asked to make a deposit. Now, her New Born has a guaranteed spot for March. As you can imagine, this is why I feel we are being ignored and purposely not provided a spot, interestingly enough, both of my co-workers are White. During the tour, I had noticed very little to hardly any minorities in the entire school. In the current New Born Classroom, there were zero minorities! And they are clearly going above and beyond to not only be very unprofessional, and providing me with wrong information to me just to ensure that my mixed African -American/ Asian child would not get into this facility. Our daughter has been at this Goddard for over 2 years now, as it has been a wonderful experience. The amount of learning, education, and play options available to the children is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this Goddard to any parent looking for a day care in the Piscataway / New Brunswick / South Plainfield area. read more

The Piscataway Goddard School is absolutely amazing. The teachers are caring, nurturing, and provide the best care for my daughter. We've had her at this school since she was around 5 months old and couldn't be happier with care she receives every day for the last year. My daughter has a smile on her face every morning because she really loves coming to school and loves her teachers! She's blossomed into such a happy toddler and learns so much everyday. I trust all of the teachers and feel so confident dropping her off because she gets such great care. On top of the amazing teachers, the on-site owners are super-friendly and the director is wonderful. This school is definitely something special and you can see it in the happy staff members, the tenure of the teachers, and the happy kids. I highly HIGHLY recommend Goddard Piscataway. read more

My wife and I had our daughter in this school ever since she was able to attend; she is now 28 months and still attending. After about a year of enrollment, the staff began to notice that our daughter, was having delays with speech. This was brought to our attention quickly and options were presented to offer her special services. A short while later, an arrangement with a speech pathologist was set up and began working with the staff at Goddard. The employees were very welcoming to the speech teacher and great with her. We are very happy with her progress in speech and are grateful for the ability of the staff to notice and properly communicate her status. Everyday that Alex is in school, my wife and I receive pictures with cute little situational comments that simply make our day. I can't imagine it to be an easy task with so many kids in the classrooms, let alone the building, to be able to educate, play, maintain proper hygiene among other things, and to jungle all of that with capturing those moments and posting them to Tadpoles. A short note about this app, it's such a great tool for monitoring your child! Among the thousands of things to manage, in and outside of the classroom, I'm sure that the director and new owners put forth a great deal of effort to maintain the high quality that goes with the Goddard name. In conclusion, there wasn't one specific instance that made me want to explain how happy we are with this Goddard...it's a great place and we see her growing in so many ways and we can attribute to the knowledgeable and caring staff. We plan to keep our daughter enrolled there until she is ready for public school and highly recommend this Goddard to any family looking to provide an all around great place! read more

We LOVE The Goddard School of Piscataway!!! As first time parents 5 years ago, we were very diligent in visiting day cares, schools, and even interviewing nannies to provide in home care. It wasn't until we stopped at the Goddard School in Piscataway for a quick visit that we found the perfect fit for our new family. From day one we felt the teachers, management, and owners really took an interest in our child and provided a level of care that could not be matched. We did not hesitate to enroll our second child 2 years later and have been truly happy. Both children have formed special bonds with each teacher along the way and will be sad to leave once they have to attend elementary. Fortunately, they will be ahead of their classmates having experienced the benefits of The Goddard School curriculum. We will be forever grateful to the teachers and ownership for providing a loving, worry-free environment where our children have grown and prospered. read more

There is something special happening here at this school. There is an on-site owner, a decent number of staff who have stayed for many years, less turnover , and a real sense that they are teaching with the goal always being that the kids have fun. It does not feel like a place that is just offering to babysit your children, but more like a program with the desire to teach, and a genuine dedication to the kids. We recently enrolled our 3 yr old son at Goddard in Piscataway after a very disappointing experience at another local school. It's been a world of difference. There is so much more structure, and the cirriculum gives kids a fun way to learn and socialize with their peers. The owners have been working at the school since the start of their careers, and I think this helps to provide a stable, positive work environment that attracts the best teachers and a much lower turnover ratio. My kids have been attending Goddard since they were 18 and 12 months old respectively. It has so far been an excellent experience. My oldest son graduated kindergarten and was very successful in first grade. The teachers are great and you have many who have been there for years! The feedback you get regarding their academic capabilities and progress is also wonderful. We have had our daughter at Goddard since she was 6 months old, and she is now almost 3. As all parents know, it is extremely difficult to leave your child for 8+ hours a day. However we take comfort in knowing that she is at such a safe and happy place as the Goddard School in Piscataway. The staff is extremely welcoming and caring to the children, making them feel comfortable and creating an atmosphere for fun and learning. And in particular since Joe and Laura took over as owners, there have been new programs for the kids to engage children of all interests. Our daughter comes home everyday excited to tell us about the activities of the day. The teachers at Goddard even helped spearhead our daughter's potty training and taught us the tips and tricks, and they helped complete potty training in a week! We are so happy to have such a high quality daycare and preschool close to home. read more
