My hotel was located, lets say, on the wrong side of the railroad tracks, so it was literally right around the corner. While driving down Summer Rd, I was thinking, " Summer, what a great name for a stripper" The building was very easy to find and had ample parking. Although the exterior was not as well done at The Furnace, it was in no way run down. Then entry was artfully done, with a tiny little 4'11 school teacher type behind the counter who would have been taller sitting down. When she swore, I swear I blushed. Didn't expect it, even in a strip club. Although the building is tall from the outside, the inside was single story. Dark with effect lighting, it had interesting Celtic pattern wallpaper, a few large rectangular mirrors hung sidewise, and an overall round motif for the three circular dancing platforms. Except for the VIP booths, the general architecture was open, you can see from the entryway to the back bar. The main stage was easily 20 foot in diameter and two are set with spinning poles, this must be the standard now. The pole platform I referred to as the "on deck circle" had an awesome tile setting reminding me of a compass rosetta, and the third, also with an awesome tile pattern is on the edge of a raised area surrounded by a rail, creating a curvy half caged effect. Not a crack whore in the house. I was there on a Monday, so if this is who wanted to be there on a slow day, Friday must be intense. In the days of Porn Hub and "The People Of Walmart" where crack whores and 18 year old mothers of three in yoga pants are everywhere, what is the appeal of a strip club, really? If you saw Ivy on the pole, you would understand. She did something I have not seen. She climbed to the top and presented herself as standing, as the pole spun her around. Just standing. And then like a mime, she did her sexy walk. Four foot off the ground, holding onto the pole with one arm, walking on air. It was amazing. Did you know the original Olympics was naked? Chew on that. She turned out to be a carbon copy of Liz from The Furnace. A mind, a person, a wit. Someone easy on the eyes even easier to talk to. As a nudist, I didn't see what she was wearing, only the fire behind her eyes. She was like a waffle house waitress who would sit next to you at the counter to share stories on her lunch break. Beautiful, yes. Talented, yes. Athletic, yes. But real. Intelligent. Funny. A person. For god's sake, ladies and gentlemen, a person. That's why porn hub and WalMart don't offer what a strip club does, interaction with real people that normally would never, ever give you the time of day. Because they are afraid. If you want to be part ringmaster and part carnival barker, love music and don't mind watching the most beautiful women dance mostly naked night after night after night, maybe this is a career choice for you. I met the manager as well and she was fun. She came in dancing. In my dreams, she is a hippie chick living out her lifeplan. Free, open, easy; I really enjoyed all the people I met. It was kinda creepy. They were happy. Not "they seemed happy" but they WERE happy. They were living a good life at a job they enjoyed and FUCK WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT. Those are my people. From the coal mine to a CIA assassin, if you love what you do, you are doing the right thing. I mean the barmaid had only been there a month, so the life had not taken it's toll yet, but Ivy had been there for years. She said she had made her rounds to the other clubs and settled at the Gold Club. That says something. Alot, in fact. The Gold Club is high on my list. Clean, safe, and fully stocked with interesting personalities. Smoking inside, low cover, reasonable drink prices, and a shower if any of the ladies get too dirty. This place has loads of potential! Unfortunately... Steve Cooper, the owner, has entrusted the club to individuals who have no idea how to run a business in 2022. They do ZERO advertising, and they treat the place like a sports bar. The entertainers can be pretty stand-offish to customers they don't know, but I don't blame them! Whenever I go, even if the place is packed, only 4 or 5 of us are actually spending money. I know how drinks at Local happened after a lovely dinner at Cafe 1912 - drinks tend to happen frequently with me and my friends...it's how/why we ended up at the Gold Club after drinks where it starts to get fuzzy. Maybe it was the giant pitcher of alcohol we consumed on a random Sunday night. Maybe it was the full moon. Maybe it was because we were all celebrating something...I guess it doesn't really matter though because the end result was me in the back of a car at 11:00 screaming, "let's go!" I should preface this story with the fact that I don't like gentlemen's clubs...or at least, my prior two experiences to this were not good ones. They were dirty and sleazy (in my eyes) and just not places I want to spend my time - mostly because I'm always scared of what I might accidentally touch and use the light on my phone to inspect everything before sitting down. But I'd never been to the Gold Club and I have passed it a million times and was always curious about what it looked like on the inside. Plus, they have to keep their tops on so how bad could it really be? I will freely admit part of the reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because they keep their tops on. If you're a dude, this probably is not a positive for you (sorry, Memphis law). But their clothes helped me feel a little bit more comfortable in an otherwise awkward situation because I've seen more nudity on a beach! I guess this place is newly renovated because it was nice...and clean...and kinda sophisticated in a conference room/board room style way...it just happened to have a stage and stripper pole in the middle of it. It was almost like I was watching a Vegas show. And the bathrooms were super nice, always a bonus. There were maybe 4 girls working that night and were in a rotation for stage time. I actually had quite a few lovely conversations with the girls when they were on their breaks. One even had the bartender put cherry soda in my beer to make it taste better since I hate beer and that is all they serve. I would say 2 of them were pretty...the other 2 were ehhh. Then again, I'm not a fan of head-to-toe tattoos. In conclusion, I wouldn't really call this a strip club - more like a bikini bar. I mean, it was just watching girls dance with their clothes on. And Mary Jane really knows how to dance on the pole - I'm not even being sarcastic when I say that that girl makes it look like art. She should enter competitions! Went here tonight (Wednesday night). Had 2 beers at $5.50 each and got one dance for $25 or so I thought.... I took the money out of my wallet before I went so I knew it was right. Dancer asked me to take my wallet out of my pants and put it on table beside us, next thing I know a $100 and a $20 plus the $25 i paid was gone. Dance wasn't even worth $25.. I'm guessing that going here on the night of the Super Bowl is definitely one of the slowest nights of the year. 3 strippers were working when I left, so I could only imagine what this place would look like on a Friday night right before Thanksgiving or something of that nature. The stars are for the nice pretty dancers like Angelina, Virgo, London, Lexie, and Mary Jane along with the rest! Now this is what the downer is-there is a server named Jennifer that for some reason thinks she is all that. I usually get at least two VIP dances along with cover and the two drink minimum and always offer to buy the dancer a drink and I have never had time to stay more than an hour or two, so I think I am a good customer. Last time I was in some dued brought in a 18 buck fifth of that shnapps crap Fireball and ordered set ups. The server Jennifer acted as if Jay-Z had just arrived and ordered a magnum of Dom champagne. She tersely said she needed my table, moved my drink to the edge so she could set her chinsy tray of ice and shot glasses on it and asked the dued if he needed me to move over a seat. I mean it was a freakin 18 buck bottle of cinnimon shnapps! One other time she demanded I order my second drink literally seconds after i set down my first but I think she got the message to take it easy from one of the girls who knows I spend pretty good. Then only other thing I do not like is a couple of the frat boy football wish they were cop types in the prom outfits that are evidently bouncers literally just stare directly at you when you get a dance. I want the girls protected but bulldogging paying customers from five feet away from a VIP couch is a bit much. Back to the positives I really like the girls I mentioned and they are cool about spending time talking for a while before you get a dance.
