I stopped by Romantix just up the road to look into a gift or two for my ever patient wife, and The Gold Club came highly recommended. My hotel was located, lets say, on the wrong side of the railroad tracks, so it was literally right around the corner. While driving down Summer Rd, I was thinking, " Summer, what a great name for a stripper"
The building was very easy to find and had ample parking. Although the exterior was not as well done at The Furnace, it was in no way run down. Then entry was artfully done, with a tiny little 4'11 school teacher type behind the counter who would have been taller sitting down. When she swore, I swear I blushed. Didn't expect it, even in a strip club.
Although the building is tall from the outside, the inside was single story. Dark with effect lighting, it had interesting Celtic pattern wallpaper, a few large rectangular mirrors hung sidewise, and an overall round motif for the three circular dancing platforms. Except for the VIP booths, the general architecture was open, you can see from the entryway to the back bar. The main stage was easily 20 foot in diameter and two are set with spinning poles, this must be the standard now. The pole platform I referred to as the "on deck circle" had an awesome tile setting reminding me of a compass rosetta, and the third, also with an awesome tile pattern is on the edge of a raised area surrounded by a rail, creating a curvy half caged effect.

The ladies were all gorgeous. Not a crack whore in the house. I was there on a Monday, so if this is who wanted to be there on a slow day, Friday must be intense. In the days of Porn Hub and "The People Of Walmart" where crack whores and 18 year old mothers of three in yoga pants are everywhere, what is the appeal of a strip club, really? If you saw Ivy on the pole, you would understand. She did something I have not seen. She climbed to the top and presented herself as standing, as the pole spun her around. Just standing. And then like a mime, she did her sexy walk. Four foot off the ground, holding onto the pole with one arm, walking on air. It was amazing. Did you know the original Olympics was naked? Chew on that.
She turned out to be a carbon copy of Liz from The Furnace. A mind, a person, a wit. Someone easy on the eyes even easier to talk to. As a nudist, I didn't see what she was wearing, only the fire behind her eyes. She was like a waffle house waitress who would sit next to you at the counter to share stories on her lunch break. Beautiful, yes. Talented, yes. Athletic, yes. But real. Intelligent. Funny. A person. For god's sake, ladies and gentlemen, a person. That's why porn hub and WalMart don't offer what a strip club does, interaction with real people that normally would never, ever give you the time of day. Because they are afraid. Because they are sick of being hit on. Because they don't have the time.
Speaking of carbon copies, is there a stripper DJ college somewhere turning out these guys? I swear every club I have ever been to has had the exact same DJ in different bodies. Meet an interesting person. Talk to this guy. Really, imagine his life. If you want to be part ringmaster and part carnival barker, love music and don't mind watching the most beautiful women dance mostly naked night after night after night, maybe this is a career choice for you.
I met the manager as well and she was fun. She came in dancing. In my dreams, she is a hippie chick living out her lifeplan. Free, open, easy; I really enjoyed all the people I met. It was kinda creepy. They were happy. Not "they seemed happy" but they WERE happy. They were living a good life at a job they enjoyed and FUCK WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT. Those are my people. From the coal mine to a CIA assassin, if you love what you do, you are doing the right thing. I mean the barmaid had only been there a month, so the life had not taken it's toll yet, but Ivy had been there for years. She said she had made her rounds to the other clubs and settled at the Gold Club. That says something. Alot, in fact.
The Gold Club is high on my list. Clean, safe, and fully stocked with interesting personalities. Smoking inside, low cover, reasonable drink prices, and a shower if any of the ladies get too dirty.
I'll go back.
