came here for the Beyond Wonderland rave festival & it was such a super duper fun time! They had security guards giving free water bottles at the front of each stage to give out to audience members. The sight of the Gorge is so stunning at the main stage. Genuinely overwhelming if it is your first time because the sound acoustics with the nature contrasts with the light shows playing. A lot of porta potties available with working hand washing stations, too. Max of a one minute line, no joke. The sunset is so pretty at this location , so I could only imagine how pretty the sunrises are, too. Parking on the grass and there are plenty of them...just find a reference point to pin that way you know where to go once the event is over and you are sleepy...tired...etc read more

So I am not a camper by any stretch of the imagination. But I am willing to make an exception to see Dave Matthews Band. Upon arrival I did have my tickets but I did not purchase a camping pass. I assumed (yup), that i would be able to go to Family Parking for free like i did back in 2023. First of all the employees back then were much more chill. I think it was before the "Live Nation" takeover...possibly? Anyway, I was told I had to purchase a Tent Camping spot even though i didn't have a tent. So I plopped $300+ for that. I actually got a relatively good spot near "The Pivot". The next time I come, I am definitely going to look into other camping arrangements. read more

This review is for "gold power" camping. We rented an RV and took advantage of the possibility to have a power hookup because I am too old and cranky to camp in a tent, on the ground, in 100 degree heat for 3 days. I just know myself and know that is a recipe for misery. I have seen general camping described as "district 9" and have read that premier & terraces are a worthwhile upgrade. Now on to my review of the gold area: Huge shout out to Owen-- who supervises this area. He helped us get settled and came to check on us all weekend. One thing all camp areas have in common is that they are a big open field. In Gold, the downside is that you are about a 15 minute walk to the food and other vendors, which are situated near the other campsites. The huge UP SIDE is that you have a separate arrival gate, a separated entrance gate, and a separated exit gate from the venue. You are also at most a 5 minute walk from the entrance to the venue. This is great at the end of the night. The spots are big enough that most people in an RV also had a sun shade and even a couple of tents near their RV. Highly recommend you bring your own shade because there is none. Porta potties were pumped at least once per day and are conveniently spread out throughout the camping area. There are also plumbed toilets and a shower trailer. Showers are free and are cleaned once a day. We found them to be "clean enough". Power is only available for some shows and no other hook-ups are available. The website says honey bucket will pump your waste and we did see them circulating around but we never connected with them. But, no big deal to find a free dump-site later. Anyway, I was nervous when I realized power is provided by a series of cables running to a generator shared by many RV's. But, Owen kept the generators generating all weekend and the power stayed on. So, blessedly, did our AC. There really isn't much to do in the area between shows. So, bring some way to entertain yourself. I have heard you can walk down to the river but it's a bit of a hike. We walked over and did a wine tasting one day at the winery. They advertise a pizza truck, which we were looking forward to, but didn't actually seem to exist. We made friends w/ our neighbors-- and someone gave us a ride to the river one day-- which was wonderful. If you can figure this out-- definitely bring floatation devices/paddleboards/etc to enhance your river experience. Rattle snake cove is about 2.5 miles away. There is also a nice state park across the vantage bridge. BUT you have to go back through security to get back into the venue which might not be worth it depending on the show. Overall a great experience & I would definitely RV camp, with AC (haha) here again. read more

If you are into camping & festivals, then you will enjoy the Gorge. Their campsite is well-organized. My group had premier camping for Bass Canyon. We also parked another car in standard (general campground). They won't allow you to drop off your things first then park in general. Bring a wagon if you need to get other supplies from another car. Ideally you want to all have premier and come together. Day 0 took roughly no longer than 30 min to 1 hr to enter campgrounds when we arrived at 9am. Premier camping had ideal views directly to the Gorge & the festival. You can see both the venue's natural beauty during sunset & the stage's lights. Ample space in premier parking. If you get there early, should be no issues. If you come Friday (Day 1), I suggest you bring measuring tape if you feel your space is compromised as you deserve to get what you paid for. If you go near the store of premier camping, there are the vip private showers and bathrooms that have ac. Quiet time is enforced-- not strictly but your neighbors try to be more respectful than expected in general. Walk is only 20/30 min from venue or you can take the complimentary shuttle that comes with your package. Also, I felt very safe & secure in premier camping. No problems of theft & issues with neighbors. Personally, I didn't enjoy camping & left camp to get a hotel lol if it is your first time camping & it's over 100f weather, I suggest you make alternative plans if you do not enjoy the first night. As a campsite, we never ran out of water, ice, toilet paper or any promised amenities guaranteed from the venue. When tearing down, we asked if we can bring our other car from general to finish packing our remaining items. Staff member said it was ok. read more

The only start is for the proximity to the amphitheater. This place is really awful but it's also the place to stay in the near vicinity. No one is expecting a 5 star hotel experience but it's hardly even 'camping'. It's a giant dirt field, with zero vegetation, which is utterly miserable in the summer. There is no escape from the sun. This is a permanent venue that hosts a lot of festivals. Planting some trees or installing some shade sails would make the experience so much more comfortable and enjoyable. Most of the bathrooms and showers are trailers, which got really gross pretty quickly. Obviously some events are bigger than others and some amount of flexibility is understandable, but again, this is a permanent venue that hosts large crowds on the regular. There's no reason they can't or shouldn't have mostly permanent facilities. The showers are not open very long and there were huge lines most of the time. When it's 100+ degrees for days on end and you're sitting around in dust, a quick shower shouldn't be an unreasonable ask when paying hundreds of dollars for the 'experience'. That's on top of the tickets for the event. Another stupid thing -- bright lights, like street lamps, run by generators. They have power lines all over the camping area but still had tons of generators...running well past their quiet hours, shining brightly onto the tents. They provided potable water throughout the camping area, which was a plus. However, the potable and non-potable where not very obviously labeled. We were in a spot near one of the non-potable water things and stopped at least a handful of people from drinking it. Lastly, there were a lot of reports of theft from tents, cars and RVs. read more

It was a great camping experience once we got in. Perhaps due to double header weekend of Tame Impala Friday night and Seven Lions, et al. (Chronicles III) on Saturday the wait to get onto the campground was a little grueling. The premier camping worked well for my pop up trailer and abundant honey bucket islands placed throughout. The grass is extremely well kept and fantastic for trailer or ground tent. Everyone was respectful upon departure and absent of any trash or debris. I'd recommend and will be returning. read more

I wanted to wait a bit after my stay to gather my thoughts and be helpful. First of all this was my first " Gorge " experience. I'd done my research and arrived early to camp for the Def Leopard/ Journey concert. The mood was amazing in line to get our spots to camp. I found the personnel to be friendly and helpful for a newbie. We got a great spot and set up. I could see the line of campers, trailers and tenters heading in as I was cooking dinner. That line was long and went through the evening. Luckily I read something that said if I brought a propane stove I needed a fire extinguisher as well. After seeing so many rules about no open fires and no charcoal cooking I was surprised to see those rules were neither followed or dealt with. So many fire pits...I was a bit jealous with the cold nights. We were in Premier camping which includes free showers and a shuttle to and from the concert. The bathrooms were kept clean, the garbage cans were constantly checked on. The shuttle situation was lacking. Can't complain too much but only two were running. They need to work on that. Overall the camping experience was awesome. Great people around us. I've seen complaints about the store prices but again if you plan ahead there are no worries. It's an experience and well worth it. read more

We stayed at the standard campsite over Labor Day weekend. We were frustrated to say the least by the excessive noise (loud, mic'd karaoke as well as individuals roaming amongst the tents with boom boxes blairing back and forth) that continued non-stop until at least 3 AM. I am disappointed that Live Nation ( in conjunction with Gorge venue staff) did not play any role in maintaining a reasonable decibel level overnight. For the security and safety of paying customers Live Nation should without a doubt provide on site staff overnight to enforce basic guest behavior and conditions of use. I cannot recommend to others nor will I personally be staying at the Gorge campsite again until policy and resources have been implemented to deal with this problem. I have every expectation that Live Nation should have ample resource to enact these given the exorbitant revenue derived from its customers at every turn throughout the venue. This review is for the ADA accessibility and services of the Gorge. I broke my ankle two weeks before our planned 3 day camping trip to the Gorge and we decided to go ahead with the trip because of the ADA accessibility. When we arrived the entrance into the campground was completely disorganized, with long lines of cars that the staff was unable to control or manage. We eventually found our way to the ADA campsite. The ADA campsite is near the entrance, across the street from security so we felt very safe. The site was relatively quiet and low key compared to the general camping area. The ADA campsite had its own portapotties, but the ADA accessible showers were a long walk from the ADA campground. As a result, I was unable to use the showers because it would have been too challenging to make the walk with my shower belongings and take my walking cast off and on to shower. There was a shuttle promised from the ADA campground to the ADA seating area in the venue. The shuttle was supposed to begin running at 6pm on the first night of the festival. By about 6:15pm, there was no sign of the shuttle, and when we asked at guest services, they did not know if there was a shuttle running or when we could expect it to arrive. Since the staff did not give us any confidence in the supposed shuttle, we decided to start making the long walk to the venue to avoid being late for the show. It was not an easy walk in my walking cast. As the weekend went on, however, the venue and campground definitely improved in their services. On the second night, the shuttle arrived by 6:07pm and by the third night, the shuttle arrived at 5:52pm. The shuttle dropped us off inside the venue right near the designated ADA seating and bathrooms. On the third night, chairs and an EZ-up for shade had been set up at the shuttle stop. The venue had also set aside some limited-edition posters for those in the ADA section, as we would not have gotten an opportunity to buy them otherwise because they sell out quickly as soon as the doors open. These improvements on the third day were very thoughtful and appreciated. Following the concert, shuttles were available to bring us back to the campground. I am lucky in that my disability is temporary, but for some, they rely on these services in order to be able to enjoy concerts. I was very disappointed in the services and the lack of knowledge of the staff on the first day, but the services greatly improved as the weekend went on. I would recommend increased education for LiveNation staff as to what services and accommodations are available for those with disabilities. Many of the staff seemed severely uninformed. I want to give an extra thank you to Becky and Janet at LiveNation who were the most helpful staff members that we met all weekend. They were very kind and helped us to feel informed when we were unable to find information from anyone else. Thank you Becky and Janet! read more

Let it be known I have grown to 'just say no' to hot camping. So naturally, the pacific northwest wins my camping heart with it's mostly summer warm days and frigid nights. My camping experience here was during Sasquatch this year so know I am reviewing the raw camping experience here, not the festival frills. The land is well maintained and it was mostly grassy throughout the grounds. However, the grass looked like it hadn't be cut in months. At times it felt like we were walking through bushes so I highly recommend packing the hiking boots rather than the chacos. The scenery is outstanding and adventurous hikes are to be had. The general store is located at a good halfway point between both sids of the grounds. It had your basic highly processed foods to choose from complete with a biscuits and gravy machine. The surrounding town is peaceful and small but there is a gas station relatively close. Tip: Pack thick socks and layer them at night; your toes will thank me later. read more

The only reason to stay here is to go to a concert at the gorge and not want to drive home. It's a fun environment once inside but getting inside is particularly slow -- think 30 minutes line minimum-- and that's after you get to the gate of the campground. Camp store ran out of everything but alcohol on a 5 day festival and 8 bucks a bag for ice, would love to see much they make just on ice

Is this the new norm?? We arrived 4.5 hours early for the Dead & Co. shows on Friday. Once directed into the holding area for camping, we were made to wait more than 1.5 hours as they funneled cars into the camping area in small groups of 10 vehicles. The "standard camping" loading order was not at all fair, as new arrivals were regularly let in before those of us who waited, and waited, and waited... After having only a fraction of the time we wanted for setting up camp and hanging out, it was time to head into the show. Both nights, we left our campsite +1.5 hours before the scheduled start of the show - and both nights we missed about 1/2 of the first set! The lines were ridiculous!! Not kidding, I believe they forced all 20,000 people to pass through fewer than 15 gates. Of course, you could pay an extra $10 to go through a "fast lane" which also appeared badly backed up. It makes you wonder if the staff intentionally slow things down to encourage people to buy these "extra conveniences." To put it simply, we were packed in like sardines for hours this weekend! Live Nation crowd management at the Gorge absolutely sucks! In other news, the shows were excellent! Of course, we had a great time - once we cleared the many frustrating hurdles of getting inside. read more

This review is about Terrace (premium) Camping at the Gorge Campground, as experienced July 25-27, 2013, when we saw Phish at the Gorge. All we read on Yelp and other sites told us to stay far, far away from the Gorge campground - we almost stayed at a hotel an hour away and met many people, scared off by reviews, who camped at faraway campgrounds. I'm here to say if you're worried about general admission camping, pay for the Terraces. Here's how it works: 1. LAYOUT: You pull into the camping entrance and are directed to the Terraces level. You drive through general camping, premier, and finally reach the entrance to the Terraces. Campers must show wristbands to get into premier, and you always go through premier to get to the Terraces. It was about a 10-minute walk to general camping from the Terraces. 2. SITES: Upon arrival, a nice guy explains the rules and leads you to your site - each car is assigned a campsite, well-marked by spray paint on the curb. You back your car up to the curb and set up in your grassy area. If you have 6 people in one car, you get one site. If you have 2 people in one car, you get one site. Three backpacker tents can easily fit in a site with the provided picnic table. We had a big REI Kingdom 4 with add-on garage and it fit the space, though it was hard to incorporate the picnic table. 3. TERRACES CAMPGROUND: The Terraces area includes about four "levels" (or terraces) for camping. Each level contains a few spotless portajohns and an actual (not pump) sink. Two levels contain real showers and bathrooms - one trailer for showers, one for toilets. We were one level down from the trailers - perfect. Tent campers should aim for the lower two terrace levels - we spoke with people on the highest terrace, where the RVs are directed, who had to put up with RV generator noise and smell. The sites that look out over the gorge (on the edge of the terrace, as opposed to the back, where you are up against the hill to the next level) seemed a little spacier. The views from the edge are tremendous, while the views from the back are obscured by the tents and cars. 4. AMENITIES: Amenities were as described. They serve coffee and doughnuts every morning. They sell ice from golf carts and go by each site regularly. The people who work the area are ready with tips and helpful advice. Bathrooms and showers are fantastic. The shuttle to the venue is nice, only recommended if you're leaving early or late - leaving right before or after the show, you will find yourself in line with a couple hundred people. It's easier to walk, and it's not a bad walk. Note that for most shows there is no re-entry to the venue once you leave. 5. THE SCENE: The Terraces crowd seemed to be made up of people who were a little older (30+), with everyone chill, friendly and accommodating. It's most definitely not the chaotic mess described in GA by other reviewers. GENERAL TIPS: 1. SHADE: You must have shade. It was hot as hell there in the afternoon. We flew in from the East (and were shocked at how many others did the same) and brought a tent with built-in shade. Most people picked up a $100 shade tend at Wal-Mart in Seattle, hoping to return it on the way out. Even if they hadn't, the $100 was worth it. 2. FOOD: You probably don't need a lot of food. We bought a lot, and I worried we'd need a camp stove, but with coffee and donuts in the morning, and plenty of food vendors up in general camping, the food wasn't necessary. 3. WATER: You will need a lot of water (see #1) 4. EXPLORE: You can leave the campground during the heat of the day, and I highly advise you do so. A ten-minute ride south is the Vantage Bridge -- next to the bridge you can enter the water. It's rocky and not particularly pleasant but the quickest way to cool off. I highly recommend Crescent Bar Recreational Area, about 30 minutes north. The free public beach on the river is on the left, after the campground. We sat our chairs in the water and cooled off for hours. Neighbors visited Quincy Lakes and recommend it. 5. PREMIER VS. TERRACE VS. GLAMPING: Premier didn't look that much different from GA, except that they are the closest field camping to the venue, and they are separated from GA by a fence and security guards. I think they had showers and a different shuttle, but they were still camping in a field. Other reviewers here have mentioned premier is not all that special, and I'd tend to agree. The glamping tents are in the Terraces area - they use the same bathrooms, shuttle and amenities. We were pretty upset that glamping sold out as fast as it did - we didn't want to ship a tent out west, but it turned out okay. There are only 4 glamping sites, so don't get your hopes up and don't be upset if you don't get them. Ship your tent ahead and reserve the Terraces. It's worth the extra $$. read more

This review is for the RV Gold campground only and, from what I've read and heard, you should absolutely pony up the money to camp on the grass with the adults. Our perfectly level spot was about 40 yards from the flush toilets and showers and 60 yards from the venue entrance. Pro tip - you don't even need a camper or an RV to camp in RV Gold, so just do it! One trailer of flush toilets was nicer than my bathroom at home. It had granite countertops, raised glass bowl sinks, dark wood doors, sconces, wallpaper, air conditioning, and a lovely cinnamon air freshener. Those bathrooms stayed clean the entire three days we were there. The showers were nothing special but they were clean and they worked. A couple of hooks would have been really helpful, though. Just be sure to time your visit right because the shower lines can get very long. Fresh water sinks and a separate spigot for filling up large water containers are located next to the showers and bathrooms. The one big con is all the generator noise throughout the day and during the night. Ear plugs help for sleeping, of course. Just don't be the a-hole that runs an industrial-strength outside generator all day long so you and your friends can sit inside your RV. It's completely inconsiderate to those who enjoy hanging out with everyone else outside without constant loud noise and gasoline fumes. We're all camping, after all. read more

The only reason you would be at the Gorge Campground is because you're attending a (presumably fantastic) show at the amazing outdoor concert venue next door. The fact that you can hang out (read: party) all afternoon in the sunshine, wander over to see a fantastic concert in front of the sweeping backdrop of the sun setting over the Columbia George, and then stumble back to the warmth of your sleeping bag with a bunch of other happy concert goers - in a mere 15 minutes rather than the 2-3 hour drive (plus long wait in parking lot congestion) to get back to Seattle - well, for all of those reasons, the Gorge Campground is pretty awesome. That being said, don't come camping at the Gorge expecting a typical family campground experience. There will be raucous partying a few feet from your tent, bass booming from the party bus a few feet down the road until 4am, portapotties that are truly among the nastiest you've ever seen, and ridiculously long lines for a shower at 10am. My advice? (1) Camp far away from the venue, along the back fence. Likely to be less crazy and the portapotties will at least be less used than the ones in the center of the campground, so you have a chance of finding one with toilet paper (actually, we did this last Labor Day weekend during DMB and always had fairly clean portapotties plus handwashing stations with full soap dispensers - deluxe!). Your walk home will be a bit longer, but by that point, who cares? Clean(ish) bathrooms are worth an extra 5 minute walk, in my book. (2) Bring ear plugs, if you want to get any sleep and might not be passed out solidly by 4am. (3) Bring a flashlight - or two, in case you drop one in the portapotty. (4) Bring a LOT of water, food, and a cooler with blocks of ice, so you won't have to buy any of this there or rely on the few spigots of "potable" water. (5) Don't plan to shower. Just bring some handwipes and don't worry about smelling, everyone else will too. (6) Bring something to create shade during the day. There is NO SHADE at the campground aside from what you bring! Tents, beach umbrellas, anything along those lines you can buy for cheap on sale at Costco or Walmart - you'll be glad you brought it. (7) Sunglasses! Sunscreen! It is SO SUNNY!!! (8) Share your camping pass with a few friends and caravan to the Gorge to save some money. (9) Enjoy reliving your college (high school?) years! read more

Gosh, where do I begin? Last year I booked a spot in the supposed "Premier" section of the campground for the DMB concerts over Labor Day weekend. I guess premier is in the eyes of the beholder, because all we really got for our money was a patch of grass to park on and free access to the shower trailer. We still had really foul porta potties for doing our business. These potties did not receive the attention they needed, and filled up at least once per day. I have never seen a pile of poo that tall! Totally disgusting! This year I returned for the Sasquatch 2012 Music Festival. After 2 hours and 40 minutes spent sitting in stop-and-go traffic (mostly stop) on the road leading to the amphitheater Friday evening, I was directed to stay in the undeveloped field that is to the south of the venue. Given that I had learned previously that premier camping really isn't premier, I opted to stay in the general camping area, but I had assumed I'd be staying in the general camping area adjacent to the premier camp site. While it was a quicker walk to the venue (10-15 minutes as opposed to 20-25 minutes), it was totally not worth it in any other way. The main camping area has paid showers, a general store, hot food and coffee options, a community hang-out area, and even a karaoke setup between two RVs for late night karaoke and partying. The site where I camped this year had none of that. All we had was a barren field and access to a row of porta potties that also lacked the attention they required and were quickly filled to the brim by evening time. The hand washing station also ran out of water every day. I must also gripe about the lack of trash receptacles. All we had was a single black plastic trash bag placed next to the hand washing station in front of the porta potties. There were no other trash receptacles in the rest of our camp site. As you can imagine, this single trash bag filled up in no time at all, and other campers just left their trash on the ground next to the bag only to be blown about the camp site because it was very windy throughout the weekend. To me, I think the managers/owners of the camp ground owe it to their campers to provide a place to dispose of their trash. You can buy a plastic garbage can for $10. How difficult is that? Another bummer about this camp site is that it isn't covered by an open liquor license like the main camp site, so we weren't allowed to have open containers of alcohol visible. Huh? Uh, you'd think they would have obtained such a license to cover this camp site because for most people, half the fun of camping is enjoying an alcoholic beverage. Not to mention the fact that a crappy beer inside the venue will cost you $12. So basically what I am saying is that the undeveloped camp site where I was forced to stay simply due to the timing of my arrival and the fact that the other general camp site was full, is terrible. They should not use this field until they can provide a similar camping experience as the campers get at the main site. I suspect they were able to make a lot more money by increasing the number of tickets sold without providing any services to those campers relegated to this field. read more

So if you are going to camp at the gorge terrace is the way to go. As I understand, the terrace is not kept by the gorge but is privately owned and they are quite hospitable. I went for DMB and everyone we met there was friendly. So some of the perks.....flushable toilets and showers that are cleaned and stocked daily. Free coffee, hot chocolate, and pastries every morning. They drive around and sell ice so you don't have to walk to the general store. Shuttle to the venue with private entrance that runs all night. When you get to the private entrance at the venue you gain access to "plaza" areas in the venue and sometimes are given Pitt passes (depending on the event). Also a private entrance into the campground so you don't have to navigate through the herds of the general camp. They actually make the general walkers stop so terrace and premiere camp vans can get back in. While you are still able to pretty much walk through any campsite if you have friends somewhere else, the premiere and general camps cannot get into the terrace so this keeps the riff raff out. It also allows you to have a quieter area when you decide you are done partying and are ready for bed since the 2 am quiet time is enforced. We stayed up well beyond this and as long ad your not being too noisy they just let you be. The bad side is that it is quite pricey compared to the premiere and general. But I won't camp any other way at the gorge. Also most everything at the general store is overpriced Ice was $5 a bag. read more

I've only camped here for Paradiso a total of 3 times. My first year I was in general and let me just say it's a different world. I either entered a third world country, a shanty town, a zombie apocalypse or a combination of all. It was a lot of fun non the less but space is pretty crammed. The porto-johns are gross and the line for the showers were hours wait. Plus the walk back from the gorge is pretty damn far overall. But this is were the party is at that's for sure. Expect to see some crazy stuff. I camped in premiere the past 2 times and its A LOT better in my opinion. You have a lot more room, the portos are cleaner and the showers were much nicer and well taken cared of plus you didn't have to pay for them. There is also a free shuttle that can take you to and from the event which came in super clutch at the end of the night. It'd much quieter and more chill but is still pretty crazy. I recommend: -Camping with friends, if not make friends with the camps around you -A canopy is an absolute must. I recommend a bigger one also. -Water,water,water. I really regret camping here. It was ok when I was In my 20s but paying 55$ to camp in a field and being kept up ALL night by screaming, loud music and lots of drama does not appeal to me anymore. Next time I will definitely opt for the campground down the road that is a little cheaper, quieter and has free shuttles. If your down for an all night rager, camp here but if not at least bring ear plugs and prepare to be annoyed. read more

waste of money. Bought Premier site for Journey/Def Leopard, spent 2 hours getting in, then the 50+ year old binge drinking rudest people in the world were all over the place. Crazy out of their minds, no security to keep people reminded of what normally is not acceptable...it was nuts, a bit surprising given age of attendees. People in your campsite, screaming and yelling (hundreds of them) until 2am, other peoples lawn chairs in my site. So I left the next day, went to KOA for rest....gave myself 3 hours from ellensburg NO WAY, 2 hours stuck on 5 mile long Silica road, missed part of first show. Got down to 101 level seats, placed about 10 inches between rows WOW....should just be standing area,,,,waste of money and time. read more

The people who own the Terrace campground are difficult to deal with and more than a few of the spots are on a slope or very uneven. The shuttle service is nice on the way in but terrible on the way out. We waited over an hour in line just to get a ride back to our camp spot. For $220, this is not a great deal. read more

Overnight parking lot, not a campground. It's a large uneven grassy field with some porta pottys where you'll be packed in like sardines leaving barely enough room to pitch a tent. And it'll take them an hour+ to get you packed in from the time you arrive at the entrance. Suuuuuucked. read more

The Gorge Campground is "the only" official campground for the Gorge Amphitheater. Located right next door to what is, arguably, the best outdoor venue in the Northwest, the campground is a mere 20 minute walk to the show. This past year constituted my 7th time camping at the Gorge. My first year was '04, "in the slums" of the general campground. I have spent the past 4 years in the so-called "premiere" section. From my perspective, the camping experience peaked in '07 (at the start of my Premiere experience), and has been on a steady downhill trend since. Although for me, personally, my experiences here average out to "1," my sense is that those experiences are mightily influenced by the fan base of the band that I always see here: Dave Matthews. Although DMB promotes green practices, love and understanding, as well as general mellowness ... their fan base over the past few years has deteriorated to a group of drunk-off-their a**, glow-stick wielding, trash whores. This group no-doubt impacts the feel of the campground as a whole. Because I know people who have camped here, with their kids, for other shows (e.g., Phish, Van Morrison), I bump my rating to a 2, on the promise that things can be different. Here's the break down: The GOOD: - Camping with friends here is a sublime treat, and I love spending Labor Dave weekend at the Gorge more than Christmas itself. - Premiere camping offers flush toilets, and this year (2011) was the FIRST YEAR that those toilets were impeccable each time I stopped in. In the prior 3 years, the flush toilets were non-functional at least 1/2 of the time. Great job, cleaning staff! Excellent work, girl-campers! - Premiere camping also has access to a shuttle service, and 2011 was the first year that it worked correctly. Courteous staff really helped with crowd management. - The horse patrols. These cops(?) aboard the stately equines are a true standout. Always willing to tip their hat to you, and viewing the campground with an eagle eye. - Proximity to the amphitheater. Even if you don't take the shuttle, it's an easy walk home. The BAD: - You will literally be camping in a field, with cell phone towers. I realize that everyone at the show needs to text their friends at all times in order to figure out their precise location in the venue, that those lawn pictures of ants marching up on the stage MUST be uploaded to facebook right away, and that everyone needs to call home at least once a day to check in with their parents, the dog-sitter, whatevs. HOWEVER, I try to limit my exposure to CPT, and would rather not camp underneath them if it can be avoided. - The dusty path from campground to show is pretty irritating. The annoyance factor can (and will) shoot to 2000 though if, when you're walking along, some yay-hoo keeps shouting, "Moooo! Mooooo!" as though no one has ever thought about large groups of people resembling cattle before. - The price for a half-melted bag of ice is $5. - The campground is pretty wild (depending on the event), with lots of fireworks, glow sticks, and fire lanterns. Remember folks, we're camping in a hay field here. And I've been in standard camping one year when a fire broke out. Not cool. - The 3 levels of camping are still being worked out. Last year a Terrace camper (who was charged double the cost of Premiere), was turned away from our Premiere shuttle and made to wait for his "special" Terrace shuttle that never came. The UGLY: - The pit toilets. I'm not sure if it's because Premiere now has 5 flushing toilets...but the Honey Bucket dudes ARE NOT keeping up with the standard pit ones. They were terrible about 80% of the time this year. - The camp security staff. Would you like to be treated as a convicted felon? Then try camping at the Gorge--particularly in Premiere. The past 3 YEARS, our trip has begun with stunning altercations involving the mustache-wielding security "supervisor." I can't even tell you some of the things this douche has said to me, my friends, and, one year, even to my 60-YEAR OLD camping neighbors. Seriously, I think we all get it, dude: You're completely inept at dealing with some of the very real problems that occur over in GA, so you take it out on the much more rational, non-drug-addled, Premiere folks. I'm over it. - The trash. 2011 was the first year with recognizable recycling areas. However, they were suspect, big-blue bins with commingling that included glass. Although it is possible that someone sorted through all of that material, somehow I doubt it. I think that the recycling efforts were minimal, and probably thwarted by poor planning. The garbage bins were left to overflow all day Sunday, into Monday--even in the Premiere area. - The trash (2). The last note was a criticism of the facilities, but this item is focused on the fans: Pick up after yourselves! I have never seen so much trash--from half-eaten food items to newly purchased, Mal-Wart camping gear--left to rot in the sun. read more

So, I'm thinking this place has improved somewhat from last year by looking at previous reviews. My friend and I got to the campgrounds around 1:45pm on Thursday, the day before Sasquatch started. It took about 30 minutes to get to our spot and for the most part, the process was pretty organized. We ended up towards the end of a row with plenty of space around us and great neighbors, some being Canadian and super friendly. We set up pretty fast and got to relaxing and chatting with everyone around us. The Honeybuckets were close by, but not too close fortunately. Those were cleaned about 2-3 times a day from what I saw which was great. The soap and paper towels lasted sort of, they ran out by the end of the day, but I kept soap with me usually and the TP never ran out, luckily. Garbage was cleaned up daily at our end of the camp site and people generally kept their places tidy. Shower situation wasn't too bad, $3 each time. I'd usually get there about 7:45am and stand in a 20 minute line and then at 8am, the gate opened and there were about 6 trailers, each with about 7-8 shower stalls. We'd wait at some chairs outside while other girls took their showers and then it was our turn, usually took about 10 minutes. Showers themselves were clean and the water was hot. I heard the wait got longer throughout the day, though. There was also a small collection of food vendors near the showers and the convenience store with ATM was about a 10 minute walk away. At night, it did get a little loud from other festival-goers, but I had invested in some great earplugs from Target beforehand and I slept throughout the night pretty well. Temperatures did vary greatly there, warm during the day and quite cold at night, be prepared! My friend and I were pretty well prepared though; regarding our tent, canopy, clothing and all the food and booze we had to last the weekend. The walk to the venue was a bit tiresome from general camping, about 20-30 minutes, but it was doable, even after a long day. Hope all this info helps for future concert/camp-goers. read more

This is my first and last time camping at the Gorge campgrounds, and the reason for my 1-star rating is because the promise of larger camping spots, clean private restrooms, and private showers for Premiere camping were nowhere to be found. I just returned from Magnifique 2016, and I feel like I got tricked into spending extra money to buy premiere. It was standard nasty porta-potties, and I could not even find where the public pay showers were (though I heard they were around, just very far away). I read that the premiere camping spots would be a bit bigger also, but no luck on that. You basically squeeze wherever you can, and the spot we were able to get was extremely tiny. The one thing that they were actually honest about was the shuttle service, but the line for it was so long that we decided to just walk. I had also heard that the premiere camping area would be a bit more quiet, but that was definitely not the case, at least with the area we were in. The RV right next to us was blasting music until 4am, and another group on otherside came back around 4am and blasted their music all night. I know it's a big concert and people want to stay up late and party, but blast music at 4am? Really? This is probably an issue no matter where you camp, not just the premiere area. I will never ever camp here again, and will drive as far as I need to get a hotel the next time I go to an event at the Gorge. I don't know if they excluded some of the normal features of premiere camping just for Magnifique, maybe because this event wasn't as big as Paradiso? Either way, if you do want to camp, save the $50 and stick to the main camping. There was literally no difference between the two other than the shuttle service with ridiculous lines. read more

I was in general camping for 3 days. It's a relatively flat grassy area and although I saw some areas that were crowded more than others, I was happy with the amount of space we had. They do direct you where to go when you first pull in but you can move around after that. There seemed to be enough garbage cans at first but they never emptied the trash so by the third day it was really gross. And we were given a bag for recycling but there was nowhere to put it so I can only hope it actually got recycled. The porta-pottys were also less than desirable but they did clean them 2x a day so I think that's just how it is when you have that many people using them around the clock. The party never stops, it's always noisy so definitely bring ear plugs for when you want to sleep. In general, everyone was really nice. Some people clearly drank too much or did too many drugs and got gross i.e. puking or peeing somewhere in the campground but I kind of expected this at a 3 day concert. Security did have a presence but I didn't see or hear of anyone getting in trouble as long as you are reasonable about your behavior. We actually left the campground during the day both days and had a good time exploring the nearby parks (Wanapum for the beach and Ginkgo Petrified Forest). You had to wait a few minutes to leave to get a re-entry pass but it didn't matter what time you returned. When you got back they did a pretty good job directing you in without having to wait in the line of people who were just arriving for the first time. It is a LONG walk to and from the concert venue and it does get cold so be prepared for that. If you stay in Premier it is closer, there are shuttles and free showers and I heard security wasn't there as much but overall I was OK with my general camping experience. read more

We agree with Heather Y (8/10) final assessment - that Premier just isn't really any different then GA. Premier is just GA "a little closer." We've been 6-8 times so we know the routine. But this time it was just .... not what it used to be. We pulled a small trailer got to our little $100 piece of grassy ground, at the direction of the attendants who were all very happy and very helpful, which is always a welcome start. A couple of complaints that are not minor to us: They locked the porta pottys in our area. Really?? If there are 100 vehicles in an area - unlock the bathrooms. People were wandering around trying to figure out what they were supposed to do. So our suggestion - don't need bathrooms. Bring your own or don't pee. What, I was wondering, did my $100 buy? Also more than a few people asked us where the showers were. How about some signs or directions when paying the price of an actual hotel room? A side note- the concert was canceled and we had to leave shortly after standing in a long line for our $13 beer. We headed back to the campground and I was required to throw out my beer - even though I had on a Premier campground bracelet. Last, In the morning when campers and trailers began to leave the area, some cars/trailers went down the fenced alley exit in Premier, only to find the gates locked at the end of the alley- and being unable to back out of the tight fenced alley space, sat there for a couple hours apparently unable to get anyone to unlock the gates. There were NO attendants in the campground area in the morning, no signs to direct traffic or cones that might tell someone not to go down the long exit alley. (just a suggestion here- help your customers complete their experience in a positive manner). I agree with Naomi d. (8/25) I regret camping here. Unless you have a large motor home and are "completely" unaffected by circumstance, stay in a hotel and drive in. (caveat: We are NOT however, 20-somethings who pass out in their tents after raising hell till 4am who have no back issues. They are probably just fine here ... apparently) Management has pushed the limit on what's reasonable for the (in)convenience of a piece of grass. The value just isn't there. By the way, for those that don't know, and we saw several that didn't, the cops obviously see every concert as an income opportunity. Drive slow. Drive sober. read more

I came here for the first time a few years ago for a Rush concert on the Canada Day Long weekend with the guy I am dating...best Canada Day ever. Holy shit this is a really nice venue and the sound is amazing. What a beautiful place to see an outdoor show. The camping from the stage is a bit of a trek, however, it was a pilgrimage to great rockness. Worth the effort and drive to see a good band there. I don't recommend buying food on site and the convenience store is understandably overpriced, therefore, make sure to stock up on the essentials before leaving home. read more
