Parking is a bit of a hassle and we ended up paying the $10 for hotel,parking in a lot around the corner. It was worth it as we could walk to restaurants within blocks of the hotel. As for the room itself, it was moderately sized but we had room for all our gear without tripping over anything. The king sized bed was comfortable with 5 pillows provided (the norm seems to be 4 nowadays). The room was very quiet but the bathroom has a sliding barn door which unfortunately doesn't muffle bathroom noises which should be private. Decor is soothing warm neutrals with a small sofa and a desk chair provided for seating. There is a small frig but no microwave. Keurig is provided for in room coffee but I would recommend going down to the lobby where fresh brewed coffee seems to be provided. 22/7. We did not check out the rooftop garden due to the weather. Would've enjoyed a drink in the cozy bar adjacent to the lobby but it doesn't seem to be open yet. I would definitely stay here again should I have the need to overnight in Ellensburg.

So last week, on my way to Seattle I decided to stay the night in beautiful Ellensburg, WA (home to Central Washington University). Since it was just for a couple nights, I decided to get something downtown so I could walk around. I found Hotel Windrow online, booked the room and what a fantastic surprise. This boutique hotel is indeed RIGHT downtown. It's stylish, easy to find, obviously in a great location, and the property includes a hip little lobby bar a space called 'Top of the Berg' which is a rooftop area with fire pits, etc. very cosmopolitan. The rooms were lovely, very homey with a small couch, desk, large bathroom and comfortable bed. I walked two blocks to a fantastic Italian meal (more about that in another review) and overall, had a truly fantastic and easy night. A couple amenities to highlight include ample parking and electric charging spaces for electric cars or hybrids. I love finds like this, and plan on making at least one night stay over a regular occurrence now if I'm traveling on I-90. Recommended.

How often does management anywhere else really check on footage AND allow you to look with them??? As for the experience of our stay, everything was very straightforward, and if you're somebody who likes to avoid human interaction like me, you are able to check-in through their app and have a keycard on your phone as well. Very simple, easy, and convenient. We stayed at a room with two beds and a loft, and I was in love with it. Everything was very clean and up to date, and they even had a stone bathmat. The walls are a bit thin, but for the most part, it was pretty quiet while we were there. There's a lot of fast food options in the area as well, and a Fred Meyers for any "Oh shit, I totally forgot about this" needs. Haven't tried any of the local food places though. Might I point out, there's a DUTCH BROS in the same parking lot!! Overall, I very much recommend ANYONE to stay here if you're going to be stopping by in Ellensburg, or attending any event nearby. We made the terrible mistake of booking a dog friendly room on BringFido, and ended up with this absolutely terrible choice. On top of a rather high $200 for the room, they charged - get this! - $100 per dog for our two well-behaved pooches! We have never paid anything close to this, even in fancy, well run, well staffed hotels. Which the Icon very emphatically is not. Bringing a quick stop in Ellensburg Washington to a total of over $400. On top of this, the hotel proudly announces that they are an Airbnb experience which means absolutely no service is provided and we are expected to drop off our towels etc. or, presumably, face an Airbnb style cleaning charge! I cannot say enough bad things about this absolutely atrocious place. I cannot dis-recommend it strongly enough within the bounds imposed on me by the English language. I have no idea how this place managed to score anywhere over one star on Yelp, and can only assume that the reviewers either have no standards whatsoever or are Icon employees (if they even exist).

And there are other indications, like the melodious chirping toilet, that this hotel is a bit in need of help. Also, it's not the greatest part of town - not their fault but there it is. Maybe no place is the greatest part of town anymore. I knew Ellensburg many years ago and it was very charming. There are still shops, still a rodeo, still a handsome college campus. The amount of delinquents charging around in their loud vehicles was offputting. I will go so far as to theorize that they were circling the hotel in the hopes of preying on the young girls staying there who were part of a softball team (or whichever group might be there at the time). I'm going to say all that and also say that we felt cozy and safe in our room, and we slept fine. Mothers, though, watch your daughters. Luckily (?), there was also a strong police presence in the evening. Staff was friendly, competent; the facilities were fine. We tried to check in early around 1-1:30 pm since there were games taking place later in the afternoon and continuing into the early evening, but were unable to do so. No one from our team was able to check in around this time. So, we all just came back and checked in at 6 pm, creating a big line and crowding the lobby as we waited our turns. In the end, though, it wasn't a huge deal. The hotel's layout is not modern and there are no elevators. There are (3) stairwells, with one on each end and one in the exact middle. Likewise, the rooms are a bit dated. Upon arrival, our room was sufficiently stocked with towels, washcloths, toilet paper, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. Everything was clean and the furnishings were more modern/newer than the floor plan and decor of the hotel. While here, we used the pool and took advantage of the complimentary breakfast. The pool was a bit on the small side, but big enough for most activities. For the complimentary breakfast, we had our choice of biscuits and gravy, waffles, orange juice, milk, cold cereal, donut holes, packet oatmeal, yogurt, some fruits, and toast. It wasn't the best of complimentary breakfast offerings, but it was far from the worst. Overall, I'd say we had a good stay and comfortable night's sleep in tandem with the amenities offered.

The pool was tolerably cold but the hot tub was comfortable. The whole place was very quiet, which is unusual for places with a centralized corridor. I cannot stress enough that having a very curious Autistic child makes the rooms a danger to their safety overall. We ended up having to have our son sleep in his wheelchair just to feel safe enough for him to be in the room without the risk of getting hurt. We had to unplug the phone immediately to put it up out of the way. We had to unplug the table lamps because the plugs kept falling out (until our son went to sleep). We had to unplug the clock and put it up high because he kept trying to play with it. The place really needs a proper remodel badly as there is a lot of potential given its location.
