My husband and I just returned from our stay here (it was my second time and his first). To say the least, I can certainly understand why it was deemed suitable for Duchess Catherine to stay there prior to her wedding. It was one of the best hotel experiences that I have ever had. The hotel itself is charming, elegant, and stylish with an old-school British flair. The Goring's staff members themselves are very attentive, detail-oriented, professional, knowledgable and friendly. They really go above and beyond to please the guests. The best example of this was when I asked the concierge how long my friends and I would be allowed to have afternoon tea in the lounge next to the bar area, as we could not get a reservation until 4 p.m. (afternoon tea starts at 3 each day and I assumed it would only be for 2 hours or so). The concierge replied, "As long as you would like. This is your lounge." The concierge continued on to explain that it's all about the guests at this hotel. Afternoon tea (and every other meal I had here) was top-notch. Plus, as someone with food allergies, every time I ordered something to eat that might have nuts, the staff would always check in the appropriate places to make sure that whatever was being served to me would not make me sick. Overall, it was a great experience and we look forward to staying here again. read more
