    The view from the patio
    Rick D.

Driving through Bancroft ON today we decided to try this restaurant that is recommended on Yelp etc. We were greeted cheerily by Ashley who asked if we'd like to dine in or out on the patio. We chose the patio and she said that means I'm your server. She was very attentive and gave excellent service. They have a lot of different beers on tap and in bottles; craft, foreign and domestic. We settled on a couple of pints of Sapporo draft and we were not disappointed. My wife had the California wrap with sweet potato fries. The wrap had good guacamole and lots of lettuce etc. It was a well balanced sandwich and she says it was delicious as were the fries. The chipotle dip was good but the portion was a bit stingy. I had the Chicken Swarmma wrap and it was very good too. I had the regular fries with that and they were good. I suspect fresh cut. The patio had a great view of the town and as it was a beautiful Indian Summer day (+21C) we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Highly recommend.

We had dinner at the Granite 2 nights ago. The food was delicious! My son are all of the shrimp . I had a blackened fish that was amazing. Definitely coming back when we're in town.

Pound of wings with orange habanero sauce on the right

Stopped here for lunch after a cottaging weekend near algonquin. The waitress said that the wings were popular there, so I gave em a try. They were really good - nicely breaded. I ordered the orange habanero sauce on the side, but didn't really taste the orange or the habanero in it. I ended up dipping my wings in the ranch sauce that came with the carrots and celery. Also got the side caeser salad which was yummy.

This place is a nice gem hidden in a back corner intersection in Bancroft. Miss this place while in the area and I pity you. I have had wings in many places around North America. This place (unfortunate for me as I don't live here) just shot to number one !! Holy crap. Brown Sugar Cajun wings, dry - Memphis Tennessee style. Did I say Holy crap ??? These are the best wings I've had in years, shooting over my last favorite (and now unavailable at a restaurant near me in Florida), Maple Buttermilk wings. The service here is awesome, and we were told was recently closed then re-opened under new mgmt. who are excited to bring a new flair to Bancroft. The menu here is wonderful with so many great choices. They have a nice bar area towards the back and on wonderful fall/spring days, this place has a fabulous outdoor patio area to catch the wonderful breezes while enjoying your meal. Free wi-fi and a solid server staff make this place a must eat. Its nice to have higher quality choices in small towns as the fast food chains just plop themselves everywhere they can - its good to see a locally owned place do well....Keep up the great work....and great food.

Menu prices were a bit on the high side especially since posted prices did not include taxes! We ordered 3 regular burgers (no cheese or bacon), a large poutine, large fries and 3 drinks and our tab was close to $50! I had to veto the ice cream dessert! The burgers definitely tasted home made - a bit on the drier side but they were generous with the toppings so that made up for it. There's a nice outdoor seating area to eat in. Staff are very friendly and offered things like extra napkins and paper plates to divide up our meal. They let us use the indoor bathroom for our little guy instead of the dark and scary outhouse! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area for a meal you don't have to cook yourself!

Picnic tables to eat outside, if the weather is good. Alongside Eels' Creek in North Kawartha, village of Apsley across the creek. Staff: Friendly, in a city-folk way. Food: Chip-truck fare a la carte. Salad, burgers, hot-dogs, chicken-on-a-bun, fries, poutine, canned soft-drinks. Be prepared to wait, check out the tourist curio shop. Fries are inconsistent; either overcooked or kept under a heat lamp too long. Prices: Very high for this area, don't forget to add 13%HST to whatever you order. Bacon burger, fries, and soft-drink $21.00 after taxes. Tip: Plastic cup for your spare change, at these prices thy want your change? Facilities: Portable chemical toilet with hand sanitizer, mmm good! Suppose you could wash-up in Eels' Creek.

Bancroft Brewery Pub - A Hidden Gem Worth Stopping For!…read more We stumbled on the Bancroft Brewery Pub on our way to Barrie, Ontario, looking for a quick lunch--and wow, did this place exceed all our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the warm, rustic atmosphere. They have a beautiful patio, which would be perfect on a sunny day, and our waitress was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and super helpful. I ordered the Iron Man Burger, and it was hands-down one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Juicy, perfectly cooked, loaded with toppings, and a very generous portion--it left me full and satisfied. The sauce was so delicious that I wished I had a whole jar of it to dip my fries into too! My wife went with the Fish and Chips, and they were equally impressive: crispy, light batter, tender fish inside, and also a very generous portion. She was all smiles and cleaned her plate without hesitation. On top of that, the service was fast, and everything came out piping hot. Whether you're just passing through or looking for a new favorite spot, Bancroft Brewery Pub is a must-visit. Amazing food, big portions, great service, and a cozy, welcoming vibe. Two thumbs up, five stars--we'll definitely be back!

So, looking for another option we droves to Maynooth and found Sun Run. It was very busy! There was seating indoors as well as outdoors. With it being a rather chilly morning, we got lucky and snagged one of the tables as another party was leaving. You place your order at the counter and they'll bring it out to you. They have many baked goods like homemade Pop Tarts, Cupcakes and Honey Crullers. But they also have breakfast and lunch sandwich options. The 3 others in my party got breakfast sandwiches, and I got a sandwich from the lunchtime menu. I opted for the grilled cheese. I'm so glad it did- it was great! The bread was baked in house and you could really taste the quality. Then where was 2 types of cheddar with thinly sliced apples ham and some honey. It was delicious and wasn't too greasy or decadent. Everyone else at my table raved about their sandwiches too, including my sister-in-law who got the buckwheat gluten-free option and loved it so much, she made an inquiry as to if she could buy some of the bread to take home. While they don't sell the loaves, it says a lot that she was moved enough to even ask. Overall a great experience here. Sun Run saved the morning- there's a total lack of breakfast restaurants open on Sunday in these parts, so we were really happy to not only get a meal, but impressed by how delicious it was!

Amazing, amazing, amazing! Super sweet staff…read more Hmmm, I got one of their delicious home made granola bars. A lemon cookie, a chocolate goodie and on a separate occassion, one of their chickpea burgers, their iced tea and a slice of carrot cake. Busy little breakfast spot and very popular as a pass through cafe on the way up to or coming from Algonquin Park. One of the only places to get some good food in this tiny town (the other, the Hostel!) Came here for the first time several weeks ago and I had to splurge and try a variety of their items. Staff is friendly, helpful and adorable. The space is bright and welcoming. They have local art too on the walls. The chickpea burger, I requested it be made with a lot of mustard on the bun and they delivered. It was awesome because when the young man handed it to me he said, "chickpea burger with lots a mustard". This made me smile. I also gave a slender kanteen to have the iced tea placed in. To save on plastic. They filled it right up for me, which I wasn't expecting at all. ABOVE AND BEYOND service. The iced tea is a house blend and is very tasty and refreshing. The chickpea burger was well made and satisfying. Driving back to the city I preserved the carrot cake slice and had it upon my arrival. SO GOOD. I would have loved some walnuts in there, yet I know others prefer no nuts. The price is incredibly affordable and well worth it. For the first set of goodies I paid jus under 8 bucks and for the chickpea burger, the carrot cake and iced tea came to jus over $17. Coming from Toronto an order like that would likely be closer to $25. I would highly recommend this place. The first time I saw a key lime dessert I really desired to try it the second time. Yet they didn't have it when I returned. This place is worth stopping. Maynooth is very charming so while you wait for your food you can have a look see at the other shops on that strip of their "downtown". Very busy on the weekends and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. If you see something that appeals to you. Get it! Support the local community. You'll be happy you did. I am craving that key lime treat and now I need to wait.... will definitely return again.
