Very disappointed. I went to see The Granite Guys in Calgary on February 10, 2025 about a small basement bathroom granite counter-top project. The counter-top fabrication was to be a rectangle of 75.5" long by 22.25" wide with a hole to accommodate an undermount sink. A pretty simple job. They sent me their standard form 2-page Contract ("Natural Stone/Quartz Fabrication Residential Agreement"). The first page contained name, location, contact details (name, address, phone), the Invoice/Job number and the pricing information, and the second page contained the scope of work information, and contract terms and conditions. The second page required two initials and a customer signature. It had already been electronically signed by an agent of the Company. On February 12, 2025, I signed the contract and paid the required 50% deposit. The three pillars of formation of a legal and binding contract were in place: their Offer, my Acceptance; and Consideration (a payment of money). Then on February 21, they sent me another 5-page document ("The ABC's of Countertop Installation") and said that they could not proceed with my project until I signed that document. I read it thoroughly, and there were things in there that were completely irrelevant to my project, and at least three things that were not acceptable to me because they could change the contract scope, price and quality. Some of them I agreed with, some I marked as not relevant and others that I objected to. I spent a few hours drafting a response to each and every point in the "ABC's" document and returned my comments to them on February 23. I received an email from them stating that they would not proceed with my job unless I signed (initialled) the document. I told them I could not sign it as-is, and was told that I should go somewhere else, because they were not going to do my job. I was shocked and insulted. They were effectively saying that they were breaching the contract and they didn't care. It is important to note that the Contract and the "ABC's" are two different and separate documents. The Contract is clearly marked as Page 1 and Page 2. The "ABC's" document does not have numbered pages, and is just a loose set of bullet points. There is no mention of the "ABC's" anywhere in the Contract. On Friday February 28, I received a call from Mr. Filipe Cabrales, who identified himself as one of the owners of the Company. Although we spent about 20 minutes on the phone, he could not understand that the two documents are different and separate, and that the "ABC's" were not a part of the Contract. I recommended that he seek legal assistance before closing the door on our Contract, because his Company was going into Breach of Contract. He remained firm, and at one point, he told me that he felt that I was wasting his time and that even being on the phone with me was "costing him money". My biggest concern at that point was their failure to understand the basics of contracts. We then exchanged emails to confirm our perspectives. On March 5, 2025, The Granite Guys returned the full amount of my 50% deposit, and the full-size template that I had prepared and delivered to them on February 12. I then had to find another supplier for my project, and that turned out to be the best part! I found a local competitor of theirs who gave me a quote that was ~15% cheaper, their personnel and installation crew were excellent, and the project was completed professionally and quickly. I don't recommend The Granite Guys based on my experience in dealing with them. (p.s., I am keeping all of the correspondence with them, just in case). From the first time I walked into their store until the quartz counter tops were installed I had nothing but a stellar experience. The salesman was very helpful and gave me a tour of their facilities to pick out the stone. The installation guys were polite and efficient. The new countertops are perfect. One critique I might make would be that any staff that answers the phone be a bit more professional and state company name but hey not something I stress about. I asked a ton of questions and bugged the heck out of the install crew and everyone was very patient with me adding to a great end result. read more

I wish I could give a zero! Steer away from this company. All was great until I paid the deposit. Suddenly, they couldn't do the job at the time we initially had agreed. I had to work my schedule around theirs. Then, on the installation day, they came with the material I didn't order. The salesperson- Tammy- insisted that it was what I had chosen. Additionally, it came in two pieces. Clearly looked to me like they were trying to get rid of their scraps at the end of the year- at my expense. And boy, they asked for what I thought it would cost an arm and a leg- but I didn't protest thinking they had great reviews so probably were worth the price! Couldn't be more wrong! Next, when I requested the owner's contact info, the salesperson ignored me for a few days pretending she did not receive my emails . Finally, after a few days, I was given the owner's email. He wasn't any better than the rest of the team! First, he responded by suggesting I call him at the time he suggested. When I did, I spoke to ...the answering machine. The next day he emailed me and asked to call him again. We talked and I was told everything was my fault. He suggested, though, that they would do the job again after I chose the material again. I did. Thought the matter would finally be solved after my kitchen had been a mess and non functional for a few weeks. But then, the owner -who most likely has relied his reputation on his father and grandfather' s great work in the past- told me I would need to pay the whole amount upfront before they came again. (?!!!!!!) Can you believe it?!! Considering my overall experience before then?!!!! Of course I refused! In the end, they refunded my deposit minus $300 (yes- you read it right- three hundred dollars!) because, apparently, it was all my fault!! So steer away from this company. All's good until their salesperson makes a mistake. Then- you will have to pay for that mistake from your own pocket. read more

I wished I could give them zero stars. Very unprofessional. Stay away! They have messed up the look of our whole kitchen. One part of their bad job is our fault (we didn't see they sneaked in a seam in the contract in a very shady way). We take full responsibility of that (even though they did it very unfair). We have been waiting for a quote for a new slab for over 3 MONTHS! We have got 1 email which wasn't helpful at all (we refuse to let them in to our house until we have a quote and a plan of action). 10K + thrown in the lake. We now have a missing shim, crooked cabinet sides and a VERY UGLY seam straight down our island. We love supporting local and this is the first time we have to deal with a company doing such an awful job and service in Calgary. read more

This get a 1 for a few reasons. The biggest problem was that they never discussed any issues with the granite we picked .... until AFTER when there was obvious installation issues. Had we known the possibility of seam issues would exist with the one we picked, we would have picked a different one. Having it brought up by the installation people after the counter was installed is a stupid stupid time to present an 'option B' that wasn't an option at all at that point until then. And then all they did was continue to ask for payment - didn't care if I was happy. So--. we are unhappy and all i get are snippy emailed from the admin person. No calls from Management. No calls to say, I heard you are not happy, can we look at it and no calls from the sales department. Essentially-we installed it - only afterwards suggested options and either way want full payment. I felt they were lacking in our needs and the details were missed that would have helped from the start. It nice when you get the companies that stand behind their product and service. I say skip this and find your granite elsewhere. read more

I'm looking to replace my granite kitchen countertops and called The Granite Guys as part of my comparison shopping. In particular I am looking to enlarge my island countertop and definitely need some advice in this area. The lady who answered the phone replied that she would need me to take some measurements before anything could be done, even though I explained that wasn't looking to keep my current dimensions. She also mentioned that they are too short-staffed to come out for a consultation and then suggested I should probably talk to a cabinet person instead (?). It was really the most unhelpful conversation I've had in a long time. read more
