When I called about getting a landscaping estimate, the staff sounded like she didn't want to be there. Got scheduled for someone to look at my project. He said would get back to me within a few days. Didn't happen. I had to follow-up. The estimate didn't include everything I wanted and was half done. Basically, a waste of my time. read more

I can't say enough about this shop. They have always been so pleasant and helpful. They did the most beautiful bouquets for my husbands funeral, and were so considerate through the process. They sell a variety of items, are well versed on their plant knowledge, and the oils and vinegars cannot be beat. read more

Brilliant shop. Went here on my due date to walk around and use a 40% off coupon from the local paper. I certainly didn't expect to be so impressed. There's a snowcone/snoball stand in the parking lot. Inside is a cafe, coffee beans for purchase, olive oils and vinegars, a nice selection of Melissa and Doug toys, indoor plants, grilling items, a variety of conventional and organic plant accoutrements, and much more. Very unique selection of garden decor. Outside is a vast selection of every kind of flower, tree, or shrub one can imagine. Some varieties I've never seen in any other local stores. We were directed to Michael for assistance and he was an absolute gem. He found us a mock orange shrub--something I've been seeking out for ages. He also was just an overall delightful human being, exceedingly helpful and hilarious. You can tell he is passionate about gardening and his job. The indoor staff were lovely as well. I'm super enchanted with this place. I want to live here. The women's bathroom was totally pimped out, too: separate sink and diaper pail next to the changing table, big main sink with nice soap and lotion and tissues, just a really nice place to pee. read more

I just got off of the phone with the Green Thumbers, I live in Indianapolis and needed and flowers for a funeral that I would not be able to attend, I always shop local and having my parents from Iowa, Davenport specifically,I have seen the green thumbers every time I've come out to Davenport. Micheal was the one taking care of me, he was fast and friendly and assured me that he would take care of everything. Please be cautious of this company! I used them 12 years ago for new construction and overall had a good experience besides all my plants growing together the following year (when we specifically said we wanted it to be maintenance free for 5 years). Fast forward to Late Summer 2019 when we were quoted a landscaping bid off of another companies drawing that we received for our new construction home. We decided to go with Green Thumbers because they were only a little bit more, but they could get it installed sooner. They were not able to finish the job due to our pool installation running very far behind so we said we wanted them to finish it in the Spring. We were sent letters over the winter saying they were going to send us to collection because we did not want to pay any more than the 50% down we had put because they had finished less than 50% of the work at that time. Fast forward to this Spring and they are saying that even though the drawing showed what we wanted the description of the work did not match and they were going off the description of what was written. In order for them to finish what we originally thought was all included is going to cost us thousands of more dollars. Of course the person that originally drew up the quote is no longer working at Green Thumbers so we are stuck. Also during Late Summer 2019 we were getting a bid for a wall to go around our pool. After 2 1/2 months on them going back and forth and trying to decide what to do and how much it was going to cost they called on Dec. 1st and said they were not going to do the wall as they thought it would be a liability for the company...thanks for leaving us hanging with no other options to have someone build a wall on Dec. 1st! We were scared all winter that our concrete/pool was going to collapse as that is what the Green Thumbers people told us was going to happen if we did not get a wall built quickly. Thankfully everything was fine and another company was able to finish the wall project in only a couple weeks! Unfortunately we will no longer be using or recommending Green Thumbers ever again! read more

This season, I have frequently stopped at The Green Thumbers when visiting family in Davenport. They've a beautiful selection of healthy and diverse plants. And, generally, staff have been friendly. However, this weekend, my husband and I had a horrible customer service experience...and at the hands of a person (based on her apparent authority) I can only assume was a manager. We purchased a flat of ground cover, which was clearly labeled $54.95. This price was confirmed by GT staff who wrote the price on our order slip. However, AFTER we paid for all of our items (which totaled over $350), this woman rushed into the main building to inform us that the price indicated on the sign (and which her employee confirmed) was not accurate. Interestingly, she didn't actually know the price...only that it was more that the sign indicated...so, had to return to the garden area to do the math. (The flat ended up costing us nearly $20.00 more than was on the sign.) Not once did she apologize to us for the incident. In fact, as we were about to load the car, she had the nerve to try and upsell us on compost and mulch, etc. I've never heard of a business not honoring the indicated price. She could've handled this situation more appropriately by swallowing the alleged price error by keeping it to herself, allowing us the price as it was labeled, and quietly putting up a new sign after we left. We should never have been involved in the mix-up. Unfortunately, the experience has soured us on The Green Thumbers. read more

Very nice people and great service. They have great products and wonderful plants. My only gripe is their prices are that of Los Angeles or somewhere else super pricy. Fifty dollars for a solar light you could get at another store for 1/5th the price, come on. That is my only issue with the place though. read more

This is about the landscaping division. I have had a horrible experience with The Green Thumbers from the designer, the project manager, the landscape architect; the laborers were incompetent, also, but they only did what they were told. No one has any design sense. Would love to give you the whole story, but it's kind of long. So, I'll just say that the staff (designer, P.M., L.A. all had condescending attitudes, were generally rude and refused (and I do mean refused) to do what I wanted done. I spent over $3,000 and all I got was about 20 yards of sod & a little mulch to cover the ground, and some flagstones, which were laid incorrectly. The laborers were here four times and still couldn't get it right. They don't know how to "amend the soil" as my contract stated & had to re-do the whole yard! They don't know how to lay sod. There were holes in the yard, places where the sod didn't even come close to filling in...the last time they "fixed" the yard, I had to tell them how to lay the sod. On the walkway, the stones are 4" apart, the ground has washed away and so has the mulch (they tried to fool me by laying mulch). The stones are coming out of the ground; you can't walk normally, you have to watch where you walk & try to walk on the stones. I asked them many times, told them many times, that I wanted the stones placed next to each other (or at least as close as they could get them); they refused, absolutely refused. The walk looks awful. I would NEVER use these people again. And while I cannot recommend you don't use them either, everyone who has seen the work they did in my yard has said "I'll never use them". The people I dealt with are all incompetent, don't know how to lay flagstones and have no design sense or customer service skills, They, excluding the laborers, are rude, have attitudes that I would never approve if I were the boss, and very condescending. I wrote a letter to the owner and I'm sure he never got the letter. I just can't say enough about how awful these folks are. All they wanted was my money & I way overpaid them. It was strongly suggested to me by my neighbors & friends to NOT pay the Green Thumbers, but I did. Now I wish I hadn't. They are not work a nickel. read more

Received roses for my birthday! They were the worst flowers I have ever seen! They were thrown together in a vase. When calling to complain to FTD, they sent a replacement, they were still horrible. They were almost $200 in roses and they looked like they could have been bought at Walmart. Never buy flowers from here! Ever! read more

I live in Chicago and placed a phone order in the afternoon with Mike for a floral arrangement to be sent to a local hospital for my sister-in-law. I asked for an arrangement that was not a "bouquet circle" and something a bit more artistic. When my sister-in-received it that same day, she called me raving about it and sent me a photo and I agreed it was an AMAZING arrangement and exceeded my expectations.
