I was so excited to find an awesome low waste and eco-friendly store while passing through Charlotte. The Greener Apple has many affordable Eco-friendly items to help you waste less and be more mindful about consumption. I found some awesome silicone bowl covers, laundry detergent strips, and a few grocery items that are harder to find (low sodium better than bouillon vegetable bouillon, and hazelnut cacao butter). We enjoyed looking through the used bookstore, but we wish we had more time! It was quite an extensive collection! They also have have a ton of reusable tote bags, some of which would make an excellent reusable gift bag or a library/bookstore bag to carry books. read more

Located within Book Buyers at the intersection of The Plaza and Central Avenue, The Greener Apple offers vegan household, food, and beauty products. I'm a fan of Lee's parents' bookstore, and have seen her business grow from just a few shelves to its current state. She has slowly added more shelf space, and has a lot of variety! I subscribe to several beauty subscription boxes, and was excited to see several of the brands I've sampled at this store (such as Meow Meow Tweet and BWC). She even has a few makeup products, such as mascara and finishing powder. In addition to offering products from larger companies, Lee carries products from many local providers. She is always willing to listen to suggestions of new products to carry, or give input on those she especially likes. Lee also sells Chico Bags, and I can't seem to be able to leave without purchasing a new one. My husband and I truly love The Greener Apple. We cannot walk out of this place empty handed. If you ever see something on Instagram or in veg news and think "aw man, but I wish we had that product in charlotte!" there is a good chance you will find it here! They always have AWESOME new stuff! There are plenty of products for food, accessories, cook books (aside from the attached used book store that is also awesome) and really cool personal products as well as a local section. Always helpful, always ready with recommendations and A CAT LIVES THERE. I mean, how could you go wrong?! So, I was not ready for all that The Greener Apple had to offer. It's located inside a bookstore and once inside you will most likely be greeted by a cute grey cat. I came in looking for a natural deodorant without baking soda & they had one by Meow Meow Tweet that's grapefruit scented!! With the help of Lee I also found a great cruelty free lipstick, vegan dark chocolate peanut butter cups & toothpaste. The location is very convenient and I was a sucker for all the vegan products! 4 stars instead of 5 because they were out of a couple things I was interested in buying after sampling. read more

The Greener Apple is located in Book Buyers, a Plaza Midwood used book store. It features Eco-conscious items, such as household cleaners and vegan foods. Lee, who is the daughter of the gentleman who owns the book store, is the bubbly proprietress of The Greener Apple. The store also features Page, a lovely tuxedo cat that unfortunately, we are warned not to pet. And, on a funnier note, we are advised not to call Page "fat" or ask if she s pregnant. Anyway, hats off to The Greener Apple and Book Buyers for giving Page a loving, safe home. Recently, I purchased vegan marshmallows and chocolate for s'mores. Lee chipped in two delicious flax bars as well! Not only are the products that one would feel good about purchasing, but Lee's consistent friendliness is a draw as well. There aren't too many Charlotte stores that have Eco-friendly offerings. Housed inside of an amazing used book store, Book Buyers, the Greener Apple has everything from vegan treats and raw chapstick to Eco-conscious laundry detergent and recyclable sandwich containers. This place is amazing!!! They have a huge selection of used books, cats to play with or adopt, and specialty items all vegan! I got some amazing unique products that are all natural/ vegan. My favorite was this sweet eats chocolate that is vegan no refined sugar.. amazing! To top it off the lady who works at the store is beyond nice, friendly, and helpful. It was nice to see her passion about healthy living. I don't live in the area but will love to stop in anytime i'm in charlotte!
