I've been to many locations of The Fresh Market in charlotte, but this location blew me away!! Amazing prices and a great selection. The customer service was impeccable. Everyone on staff seems to work together like a true team! The best part of shopping here was notably the produce. Everything was so fresh and the cut fruit I bought was delicious. I was helped by a man named Tyler and a man named Cameron and both of them were so friendly and helpful. Everything looked incredibly clean and when I saw that health score I knew I was in the right place. I was checked out by a woman named Autumn and she complimented my choices and made my day with her kindness. All of these workers need a raise! This is one of my favorite Fresh Market stores because the cashiers are friendly. It's extremely convenient to/from my job and I've bought sandwich trays for my company's lunch and learn events. The employees really like the chicken salad sandwiches on croissants. The prices are reasonable for the most part and there is a large variety of different types of food available for what you're craving. I don't come here for grocery shopping but it's great for breakfast, lunch or dinner ideas. Snacks and beverages are good also. read more

This was my first time in this location and I was not impressed. The store is well organized and arranged but the deli/prepared foods area was a disaster. Stopped in on a Sunday around noon to take advantage of the family meal deal of one rotisserie chicken two sides and corn muffins. I wanted three of these deals. After standing at the counter with my parents for what felt like about 10 minutes watching the employees walk around and talk amongst themselves a gentleman finally approached us. He then told me they only had 1 rotisserie chicken and that it would be an hour before more. I simply said that's not going to work and left. I ended up calling the Strawberry Hill location to make sure they had rotisserie chickens (they had plenty and loads of options) and making the trip down there. I understand being understaffed but it was the attitude that the gentleman gave me when I told him my order plus the lack of needing to assist the customer as we stood at the counter waiting for someone to acknowledge us that did it for me and this location. Wow. This store must have the rudest employees in the city. Rare these days to go to a grocery store and be treated with such contempt by the employees. They need some training from the folks at Trader Joe's! The women who work the deli counter should really have some training in dealing with the public. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to this Fresh Market, I am ignored by the deli workers! The woman today literally turned her back to me and "busied herself " while I stood there waiting. When I finally walked away after being ignored for several minutes (I didn't even bother to say anything because if they're going to act that way to a customer, I don't trust the food that they're going to serve me) I heard the two women laughing about me walking away. Then the check out with another rude employee. A cashier who couldn't bother to even look at me or say hello. When I told her I had a bag after she started bagging my groceries, she took out the groceries that she had already bagged and slammed them down on the counter. I was unable to bag them until after I paid, she didn't even attempt to bag them, and while I was trying to hurriedly get my stuff in my bag, she rang up the woman behind me, sliding her groceries into mine as I was trying to get them off the counter. Always such an unpleasant experience to go here, but unfortunately, there's a couple items that they sell that I can't get anywhere else. I think next time I will look online rather than deal with the employees at this fresh market. read more

Now this feels personal... 3 days straight and every single item cold or hot was prepared except the chicken wings. After shopping with this store since it opened, I'd just like a slightly higher level of consideration. Is 9:30am too early to cook "pieces" of chicken? I ask because I constantly come in and see everything from whole chickens to Brussel sprouts cooked and ready. Popped in for a few quick things. It's much smaller than the Publix and Harris Teeter supermarkets in Dilworth and South End, for sure. It's also a bit more expensive. The service is excellent though. Three different associates asked me if I needed anything as I was doing my shop. Deli counter? Great. Bakery? Awesome. Butcher? Terrific. Where this Fresh Market is less than five stars is that the produce section is not so big. They have some great stuff, but not much of it. And the center grocery section has a wide variety but not much depth. Two or three options, sometimes only one. And much of it is very spendy. Overall, it's a good shop. Just be prepared for it to be a big spend. read more

I normally do my shopping at the location on Highway 51 in Pineville and I decided to try this one now since I was eating in the area and that was a huge mistake. We bought their family special meal that was made on Sunday and it went bad the very next day as well as my other three meals that I bought that day and I'm only 3 days into the week. After watching the progress of The Fresh Market it is finally open! So, with much excitement I had to get stop by Opening Day, and was glad to see the store was amazing! I spent a few minutes talking with the Assistant Manager, Carl, who was so nice and answered all my questions, as I was added the new location to Yelp and needed details, address, hours, etc. After updating Yelp, I hit the store. Being Opening Day there were several venders around serving samples as well as employees everywhere to assist with any questions. The store is small, so yes, the aisles are a little tight. However, with that said, I found everything I needed and more. From the fresh vegetables, meat and fish markets, to the prepared meals, all of which looked amazing. They also have a small sushi counter and meals/salads/sandwiches to grab and go. In addition to the allotment of food, they have a great selection of beer and wine, candy, flowers, gifts and so much more. The Fresh Market is definitely an added bonus to the Dilworth area and, since opening, I have a few more times, and have enjoyed everything I have bought! read more

I really like FM it's always clean inside the staff is pleasant no matter which department your in and if I get there at the right time lol the meat is in good supply because Sunday afternoon is not a good time hint hint- little meat leftover sometimes. I went to visit my daughter and stopped into The Fresh Market to pick up a lemon for tea and a few goodies to snack on while visiting. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by one of the cashiers and my nose was pleasantly overcome by the aroma of fresh flowers. A lovely variety to choose from. As I made my way back to the bakery section I noticed that the store appeared clean and was quite welcoming. The bakery wasn't as well stocked as usual when I've visited this location. A few of the offerings looked tired and they were out of some things. Since my daughter likes their little petite cheesecakes we looked for her favorite. They didn't have her usual choice so we went with the Chocolate Duo Mousse. It was the only one left and was tiny, sloppy and extremely overpriced at a whopping $4.99!! By the time we got it to my daughter's house, which was just across the street, the bottom half had melted away into a sloppy mess. My carrot cake muffin was on point though, and my husband's cinnamon muffin (I forgot the exact name of it) was a hit as well. I just can't get past the prices. We bought a few small pastries and a lemon and the bill was over $15!! My biggest gripe was with the extremely pricey petite mousse. I would never get that again. But I'd definitely return because I just think we visited on an off day. read more

Now, I'll start by saying that it is a gourmet grocery store, and is not the place to go for 2-liters of Pepsi, bags of pizza rolls, cheese that comes in a spray can, etc. Nothing wrong with those things, you just won't find them here. Instead, you'll find a lot of fresh foods (shocker, with a name like that!) and a focus on quality ingredients. The shop itself is small, but the layout is smart. They've fit a lot into a small space without it feeling cramped. You can easily pop in and out quickly if you know what you need. But the interior is nice enough that you won't mind if you've got a longer list to get through, either. In fact, it's so nice that you might be inclined to stop in when you don't really need anything and just browse... Oh, is that just me?? Love their baked goods, the cheese case, the small-but-mighty bulk section, pretty much everything down to the music they play, actually. If loving a grocery store is wrong, I don't want to be right. The single star derives from great service from Seafood counter: Chris Kayla, the cashier, was friendly and attempted to help. Michele, another cashier, was informed of my attempts to talk to the manager and told Kayla that she'd have to call the manager. Manager Denise arrives and Michelle; without prompting and without permission, relays my request. Denise immediately answers no without addressing me. Intersection and privilege aside - I've worked retail. We all have called in and dealt with folks who feel the need to color a request as if it's wholly offensive and or unnecessary. How so? Instead of "this customer would like to talk to you" OR "is there anyway we can help our customer" OR anything that doesn't lead to a negative preface/possible rejection/leading the witness or question. Denise repeated her statement without cause or care as to my question. I acknowledged her and said I understand you can't apply an expired coupon so it doesn't have to be scanned. It can be manually applied as I can show my boarding pass, date of purchase proving I had to leave quickly for an emergency. No follow up to acknowledge me. Just a simpe: we can't do that either. With that folks; I'm done. Decided to get names and make it a point to write in because this isn't the first incident at this location but South Charlotte managers seem to get and execute said service without being asked or told. So please note: I'm not measuring this instance nor location off anything other than themselves from the first visit and their immediate peer. It may a closer location for me but I'll drive until the Whole Foods arrives. Oh and it doesn't stop. I had to suspend the transition as the payment walked off to the restroom. When the money returned I waited for the same cahsier, Kayla, to finish it but her line kept growing and I didn't get in line thinking she'll just take us from here. Or she'll tell us what to do. Nope. So I went to the other side and waited for Michele. It was then Denise decided to open a line. I jumped over and explain its a suspended transaction. She says she knows nothing. Michele informs me that she'll have to do so as she's the front end sup. Okay. But the look on my face must've said..."how can a manager not know how to do this?" Because she offered without being asked: "oh she's just helping. I have the key." No worries. I pay. I leave. It hits me at the lot. Did my coupon get applied? Yeah, they had a sundried tomato ketchup that had a coupon on it and no big deal ... I'll walk it back in. Get in and ask Michele should I get in your line or any line. She says any line as she'll have to do it anyway. Go to Denise as she's emptier on her line. She is then provided oral instructions from Michele after Michele is asked 2x how to do it and realizes she has no need to leave her line just give oral instructions. Get to the point to cash out and it won't work. Michele has to come over and use her key. In all this, I stay vocally polite. Michele acknowledges me and replies. Denise is bothered. I can honestly say it's just not worth it. The prices + great service = value. These prices + poor service ..DOES NOT EQUAL ...value. I'm on my cell so I can't insert the doesn't equal symbol. read more

I visit this Fresh Market frequently as it's near my home. The store is nearly always empty, regardless of the time of day I stop in. I like their fresh flowers and produce, as I find them to be of a superior quality to most grocery stores in the area. That superior quality does come at a price, and their produce and flowers are quite pricey. I don't buy anything here but produce and flowers, as other items are the same as what you find at other stores just much more expensive. read more

I tend to forget this place is tucked in the back of the shopping center off of East Boulevard. It's not my regular grocery stop, and it's not "right around the corner" for me, but since I'm in the area often, I think I will be making it a point to stop in here a bit more. I've recently been meeting some of my running friends at the Charlotte Running Company location in the same strip center. We have ventured into Fresh Market on a few occasions now, and I am impressed at the selection. They always have an assortment of great looking flowers, and the bakery items catch my eye every time. The produce is fresh and the store is very clean. Needing some type of nice gesture to take to employees that I was visiting at remote locations, I've stopped in here twice now based on my first impressions of the flowers and pastries. For one office I was visiting, I took the staff fresh tulips from Fresh Market to keep at their desks for the spring season. They were well presented with colorful wrapping and bright blooms. I took the second office I was visiting a box of "ultimate cinnamon rolls" from the bakery section. I didn't personally try them, but they looked amazing! Each time I've visited, even without purchase, the staff has been super friendly. I also like that they offer an email option for your receipts at checkout. Upon opting for said digital receipts, you will receive special promotional emails and offers roughly once a week. This has opened my eyes to even more that they have to offer. The best part about Fresh Market may be the fact that not many people know it exists. Unlike the chaos and anarchy that is Trader Joe's, you can hear yourself think in Fresh Market. My first time there was almost a therapy session. Fresh market is small, but it has tons of options. Pretty much anything you need: deli, produce, meats, booze, cleaning supplies, etc. They even have a bulk candy/nuts section, which is awesome. It may not be as impressive as some other grocery stores, but it should do. Hopefully it stays under the radar, so I can selfishly enjoy it by myself. read more

Much to the chagrin of my pocketbook, this is now my go-to market. First, the location is a lot easier to get in and out of than some other markets. I still spend time wandering back and forth since I still haven't learned where everything is yet but it's more efficient since it's a smaller footprint than Publix. But the thing that makes it so lovely is that as you walk in the classical music is immediately calming. As much as I like top 40, I prefer to have a calming environment when I shop. There have only been a thing or two that I haven't been able to find when I'm in there and sometime's it's seasonality and sometimes it's just a lack of selection (e.g. they don't have Monterey Jack cheese but have pepper jack). Their deli counter and fish counter is actually pretty good and definitely better than the Teet. I wish they had more grass-fed steaks (filets, flatiron, etc.) but they have good fish like Sea Bass. I think they specialize in "entertainment" eating so lots of easy to cook semi-prepped food like kabobs, crab cakes, etc. and a pretty big counter with sides, etc. Their pies and breads are pretty good but I haven't found a dessert yet that I absolutely love. This is also a good place to grab lunch - they have cold deli sandwiches, hot sandwiches like paninis, salads and a fresh sushi bar. The only downside is that you have to eat outside or take it to go since the only tables are outside. The associates are also really nice and the bathrooms are nice and clean. Bottom line: Not cheap, this upscale market has quality food, lovely environment and great service. read more

This location is past the outback off east Blvd and is located less than 5 minutes from my apartment complex. This location is very clean and has a great atmosphere. It was my first time visiting and did appreciate the smaller shopping buggies as I never have enough groceries for a large buggy and need a bit more room when using the hand held ones. The produce looked of great quality but very picky point: I was searching for zucchini and saw the yellow squash but realized that instead of placing the zucchini next to the yellow squash it was cucumbers hahah. I was definitely confused but like I said a very picky point. Great store just a bit pricey when there are other options in the area. read more

If you are Kroger which also owns Harris Teeter you have more buying power and you can demand better pricing from Sysco, meat sellers, specialty sellers, produce trucks, wine, fish, and even local purveyors. However, Fresh Market offers something other than the lowest prices. I like that Fresh Market offers a smaller store, a present and responsive staff, speed at opening another register, less loud speakers, easy in and out, daily deals, and grab and go items, carts that work, flowers that look good and are easy to pick out, gifts ready to go, and quality products. The long wait is finally over...The Fresh Market is officially open! I wondered in here the other day. It was after lunchtime and I was on a mission for some good food. The first thing I saw when I walked in was a prepared food section, which was exactly what I was looking for. They only have a self-serve olive bar, so if you're looking for lots of self-serve stations, this is not the place for you. All of the other food was already packaged up for grab-and-go. It was not nasty grab-and-go food that looks like it had been prepared two days ago and just taken out of the fridge. It looked really good. I got a salad with almonds, dried cranberries and blue cheese. It was so fresh, a nice portion size, and delicious! Overall, the prepared foods section was a pretty good size and there was a ton of variety. They had about 8-10 different salads to choose from, lots of sushi, wraps, etc. There is also an additional register where you can just get in/out instead of having to wait in a long line. They also have a nice wine and food selection. This place isn't huge by any means, but they have a nice variety of good quality items to choose from. For those who don't like the experience of an overwhelming grocery store with long lines and unfriendly employees, The Fresh Market is the place for you! read more

From the minute you walk in you notice that something is different. The lighting isn't so harsh and they have classical music playing lightly. You pay a premium but you can find some great deals. I stopped in here after leaving the Charlotte airport to grab some last-minute Thanksgiving groceries before driving out to spend the holiday with my family. The Fresh Market is a lovely store with a great variety of high quality items, and their staff is the best of the best. I've rarely encountered such helpful and cheerful staff members in a grocery store. They had a good variety of gourmet cheeses at several price points, and a nice selection of bulk items (I'm allergic, but I got some bourbon pralines for my mom and she said they were delicious). They also carried some exceptionally beautiful and reasonably-priced Christmas wreaths. read more

Small grocery store that seems to offer a little of everything with more personalized, friendly service than than the larger grocery stores. Yes, it's more expensive so shop wisely. What I like most about the Fresh Market is the butcher area---just seem fresher (ha, it's called the Fresh Market for a reason) and higher quality. I've had them cut steaks for me a couple of times. They staff in this area is always helpful and knowledgeable, and patient with my questions. I also enjoy the prepared food area. Try their twice baked potatoes, yum. Their bruschetta pairs nicely with grilled chicken over pasta. Now I am making myself hungry. Their $20 Little Big Meal feeds 4 and changes weekly.
