Stopped here after a morning exploring Hyde Park then a quick trip to Harrods. We were hungry and wanted authentic British fish & chips. We opened up Yelp outside of Harrods and searched. This place popped up and had excellent reviews. We hit the directions button and roamed through the embassies wondering where we were going. We just kept walking, went down a little alley that my wife said couldn't be right but it was. What a cute, authentic place. Very small, maybe 10 tables and a full bar. We both had the fish & chips and satisfied our craving. We highly recommend this place. Enjoy! read more

Hidden gem! Great food and drinks are priced moderately. Tried the Beef Wellington (not written on the menu) was delicious, though a little expensive (to be expected) at 25£. Other food was normally priced at 10-15£ for a main. Pub is small, if going with group of people consider making a reservation for dinner. One gripe is that it is a little off the beaten path and, not being from the area, had trouble finding it from the tube, my gps was a little off, but that's what makes it a hidden gem. read more

My family and I are visiting from America and we were looking for a fairly inexpensive place to go that we can sit down and be served authentic British food. We called the concierge at our hotel and he made us a reservation here saying it's perfect. We show up and it's amazing. They had a table reserved for us and offered us drinks the second we walked in. The place is full of history (check picture I posted for story of the place) and is really fun. The whole staff was friendly and willing to get us whatever we needed. The beer is cold and the food is good. Just a note, the building is so old and historic that there is no air con so it got a little hot in there but all together, we all agree it was the best night of our vacation so far and would suggest it to anyone coming here. It seemed like us and one other family were the only tourists. Everyone else seemed to be locals but it was very welcoming and delicious read more

Easy 4 stars maybe 5, small hard to locate pub on a dead end street offering fantastic fish and chips and Beef Wellington, great drinks also. If unsure how to get here take a legit London Cab, drivers know the city like the back of their hand. read more

The Grenadier is the hidden gem of Belgravia... the best pub in the area, with the best mix of people! The wines are reasonably priced and also well chosen - food is traditional english pub grub! Amazing in the summer time to lean into a late afternoon session.... read more

Though initially hopeful of the grenadiers charm it's decour turned out to be nothing more than a hallow facade. The strange interior was not complimented by the waitresses steely glaze which simply seemed to say how long will you be here please get out. Furthermore the waitress demanded the bill be paid prior to any drink or food being served. The waitress noticeably short changed one of our party and made nothing of it. To add insult to injury the on cask fullers was tainted and had a fowl flavor although immediately replaced it was done with some begrudging trepidation. There are a plethora of more pleasant pubs in the surrounding area such as the nags head. read more

I cannot believe that any Qype users have given this place a good review! If you look on other websites, it's hard to find a good word. The customer service in this pub is without a doubt the worst I have ever received in London. The bargirl seemed to be on another planet whilst the bar manager was so incredibly rude, I was in disbelief. A group of us had long before ordered numerous drinks and when it got cold outside, decided to relocate inside. We were deciding whether to order food when we sat down at a table (the bar is so small that we were simply in the way if we kept standing), only to have the bar manager bark at us that the table was dirty, and we had to wait at the bar for ten minutes so he could clean it. We politely replied to thank him, but explained that we weren't bothered about the table being dirty, he shouldn't worry about cleaning the whole thing, just removing the empty glasses, and he suddenly got such an attitude about him. He made a problem out of the fact we weren't yet certain if we were all going to eat, walked off before we could tell him we were all going to eat, and then proceeded to (very obviously) badmouth us to the bargirl. When he came back to clear the glasses, he purposely took away our full drinks, and an item of my friend's property. He then pretended not to hear us/to be surprised when we said it was ours, instead replying with sarky comments about ''well if you bothered to wait like I told you'' and ''well you shouldn't leave it there then''. My experience definitely left a lot to be desired. Will certainly never be going again. read more

We arrive and are not acknowledged. We become confused whether we seat on tables ourselves or wait to be seated. We then walk out to see whether the other side was the front of the pub and would be seated there. Nope, no one. We come back in to realize it's self seated and that is only by watching another customer who came after us sitting on a vacant table. If we knew or someone had bothered to tell us, we would have sat ourselves. Still, no one has acknowledged us. By the time we got to order, there are no tables left and get offered to sit at the bar. There are no seats at the bar so we stand there confused. Do we find our own stools or does anyone help? Why let customers order food when there are no seats at all. We ended up on 2 stools with tables that are at the height of our shoulders. This is the worst service I've ever received. This is absolutely unacceptable. read more

This really is a s good as it gets, all you travellers try this tiny but perfect pub down a mews in posh belgravia. Try the sausages on the bar with mustard, have a pint, sit on the steps and know there is nowhere better to be. Careful though, it's haunted. read more

HOW DOES THIS PLACE GET SUCH GREAT REVIEWS?! We got menus and they never came back. We asked if we could eat in the dining room but they asked if we had reservations. We didn't. They said the place "was full on reservations" even though the dining room had only ONE table occupied! I feel like they cater to a certain type of clientele and if you aren't in that mold, you don't get service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

The Grenadier is a small, atmospheric pub in a picturesque location that is difficult to find. Its decor is old-fashioned. There are a small number of tables and chairs inside and a couple of bench seats outside (at the front of the building). Popular with office workers for a quick drink on the way home, The Grenadier is situated in a mews in the heart of Belgravia. Its food is reputedly good (though I haven't tried it). It's a pleasant place for a drink with a few friends (given its size, it's less suitable for large parties). The place has a long and colourful history and is reputedly haunted by the ghost of a subaltern. There's a reasonable selection of bottled and draught beer on offer. The one drawback for me is the pricing. A bottle of Budweiser, which would usually cost around £3 at comparable pubs in other parts of central London, is an eye-watering £4.05 here!! A glass of white wine has a similarly inflated price! I know this is affluent Belgravia and that Prince William and Madonna have been known to drink here - but such prices are frankly ridiculous! It's the one drawback of a pub that is certainly worth visiting - if you have deep enough pockets, that is! read more

Charming little pub tucked away in the mews streets of Belgravia. The sausages on sticks were beyond delicious!!

To say this pub is 'tucked away' is a bit of an understatement, which is certainly part of its charm. It's located on a tiny, quiet, cobblestoned street that is deceptively close to the mayhem that is Hyde Park. Really cute, great service (we were there before it got crowded later), and decent value (we had a £15 bottle of wine and some sausages for £1). Good place to spend a Sunday evening, but don't use it as a central meeting place unless everyone in your party knows how to get there - because it is not easy to find. read more

Fine old British pub - a bit off of the beaten path. A trip here includes stories of old soldiers and cash on the ceiling.

Found this place on Yelp and we loved it. The ambiance is old-school and the place is tucked away and hard to find. However, the hard work paid off. The beers were cold and the food was really good. Nice little spot we'd definitely return to! read more

Great little pub. Quite a history behind it which adds to its allure. Good beer, very good steak and London pie. Small seating area next to the mens washroom was a negative. Located in a cool little back alley mews. Easy to get to by cab but otherwise would be hard to find. read more
