After a fellow Yelper's recommendation of this place, I just had to try it and now (luckily for my health, unluckily for my purse) I'm hooked. I'd passed this little shop many a time on my wanders through the Lanes and never actually realised it was a juice shop. The exterior tricks you into thinking it's a sweet but grungy little health store, when in fact it is so much more... To a juicing newbie this place might be a bit intimidating - there are no big, clear menu signs or welcoming tables and chairs to sit down at - but don't let this put you off. The man that served me was very helpful and offered advice on what ingredients would go well with each other, so don't be afraid to ask for tips if you're unsure what to buy. The atmosphere is also very relaxed, so you can easily take your time to choose without feeling rushed or panicked. In terms of options, there are so many things to choose from. Not only can you personalise your own juice, picking from a mixable list of fruit and vegetables, you can add on things like wheatgrass and other extras to give yourself an added boost for the day. I'm no health buff, but it was clear than they stocked a vast range of healthy and energising ingredients to add into your juice, if you so pleased, so if you're looking for an extra energy buzz before the gym or a wake-up drink in the morning, then this is probably the place for you! I opted for an 'ABC juice' upon the man's recommendation: apple, beetroot and carrot, with added ginger and lime (my own personal request). It was veerrrry tasty - so fresh, with great flavours - and the large glass came to £4.30, which is really reasonable in my opinion. They even allowed me to pay on card for this, as it was over £4, which was very handy indeed. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed!! Great service, great juice and great atmosphere. The Guarana Bar is very Brighton. It's a legal head shop, juice bar and sells a lot of alternative ingredients such as wheat grass and Guarana. The staff are all Brighton alternative types and are a nice bunch. They are the kind of people with a passion for their produce, rather than just in it for the pay check. You can get a wide range of legal highs if you want to add a little bit of spice to a night out but still stay on the right side of the law. The staff will advise you well on picking the right type of high also. If you are on a crusade to quit smoking they also stock herbal tobacco and cigarettes. Last time I quit, I found some herbal tobacco handy to get around the habit of rolling a cigarette. As a place to stop off and get a drink, I like the place. It's in a good location and the bar has a good vibe to make you want to hang out for a bit. They play some cool tunes (also a range of Cd's are available to buy) and the smoothies are delicious. All in all, a cool shop that show cases a lot of the produce available in other parts of the world and bringing it to the good folk of Brighton. read more

Brighton is proud to have the first Guarna Bar in Europe, and boy has it come to the right place. It has taken some time to establish itself but can now boast of a laid back and original space. They concoct all manner of healthy and organic delights. Some may sound and look insane but never judge a drink by its colour. Wheatgrass, Barleygrass, suppliments and boosters, all fresh and revitalizing. Theres a very distinctive aroma to this place, not a bad one. I think it's mainly hemp but sed in with the library of smells from around the world. It's quite a nasal cacophony. Be brave, try something new and unheard of. You may like it. read more

This place is wonderful. The Guarana bar offers smoothies, energy drinks, supplements, health products, aphrodisiacs, stimulants, natural herbs, coffee, and much, much more. This is really a hippie/new age/yogo loving, health freaks paradise. Seriously. And even if you don't fall into that narrow-mindedly selected bracket, I recommend you give this store a visit. The range of items inside is truly vast, the staff are very friendly, and knowledgeable regards the products on offer, and the smoothies are quite simply fabulous. I was scared of this place till recently- it looked way too hard core healthy and specialised to warrant me going in. I did finally get up the courage when a friend asked me to run in and buy her a smoothie and bring it back for her at work. I toodled off and took a hesitant step into Guarana world...it wasn't nearly as intimidating on the inside although there was still an amazing amount of health foods, books, and bottles of various supplements shouting for my attention- every inch of space is covered with neatly organised shelves of energy giving, life changing stuff. I headed straight for the coffee counter at the back and asked for an acai smoothie. I noticed as I waited that they serve coffee, they sell various natural stimulants to keep you awake or to give you a lift- the obvious Guarana, as well as spirulina, and several with names like Moondust..more rave/new age sounding but probably better for me than the caffeine I usually rely on. They had stacks of stuff- some to give you a kick but some things were just health conscious and unusual- like goji berries. The smoothie they handed me was the most extraordinary black colour but tasted delicious! read more

By far one of my favorite spots in the North Laines without a doubt. The owner John is a very cool guy, easy to chat with, and gave me other recommendations outside his store as well. Ahhhh, the Acai smoothie with guarana. Excellent! This is my spot to pick up a drink with a little boost (guarana) in it, similar to coffee, but a lot nicer and long lasting. They have been open to making some custom drinks for me too, which I appreciated. Staff is always amazing. Delicious selection of amazing dark chocolate, and tons of superfoods and guarana products for sale. Also, free wifi. So sit downstairs if you want to chat up some people, or go upstairs to the lounge for a bit more privacy. I love this place. Thanks guys! read more
