After a fellow Yelper's recommendation of this place, I just had to try it and now (luckily for my…read morehealth, unluckily for my purse) I'm hooked. I'd passed this little shop many a time on my wanders through the Lanes and never actually realised it was a juice shop. The exterior tricks you into thinking it's a sweet but grungy little health store, when in fact it is so much more... To a juicing newbie this place might be a bit intimidating - there are no big, clear menu signs or welcoming tables and chairs to sit down at - but don't let this put you off. The man that served me was very helpful and offered advice on what ingredients would go well with each other, so don't be afraid to ask for tips if you're unsure what to buy. The atmosphere is also very relaxed, so you can easily take your time to choose without feeling rushed or panicked. In terms of options, there are so many things to choose from. Not only can you personalise your own juice, picking from a mixable list of fruit and vegetables, you can add on things like wheatgrass and other extras to give yourself an added boost for the day. I'm no health buff, but it was clear than they stocked a vast range of healthy and energising ingredients to add into your juice, if you so pleased, so if you're looking for an extra energy buzz before the gym or a wake-up drink in the morning, then this is probably the place for you! I opted for an 'ABC juice' upon the man's recommendation: apple, beetroot and carrot, with added ginger and lime (my own personal request). It was veerrrry tasty - so fresh, with great flavours - and the large glass came to £4.30, which is really reasonable in my opinion. They even allowed me to pay on card for this, as it was over £4, which was very handy indeed. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed!! Great service, great juice and great atmosphere. I can't wait to go back and keep trying out new combinations!

They have seating there, so you can grab a guarana drink and hang out for a while - a good alternative to a coffee stop perhaps? They also sell other assorted natural supplements of various types. For those wanting something a little stronger, they sell a decent range of legal highs (both here and at some festivals, which they take a stall to). Speaking of festivals, they often sell tickets to local festivals and other events, and always have a good range of flyers and other information.

Guarana Company is pretty famous among Brighton students, and it's pretty obvious why: advertising…read moreitself as a place where legal highs are available, for low prices. As well as the legal high trade, Guarana also offers smoothies and the like, often laced with their pop-medicinal (borrowed from Mike's review - great phrase) products. I've never really been the druggy type, but really enjoyed myself here: there's so much on offer, and so many different things to try. I'm not sure if Guarana gets much trade as a smoothie bar, I certainly wasn't aware it was one until popping my nose in. However, the drinks there are certainly worth trying, although they are a bit on the pricey side: everything tastes very natural and flavoursome, and the little kick you get from them is very pleasant and not too powerful. I don't think it'll ever replace the street-level stuff, but is genuinely pleasant for a little while. I resisted the temptation to purchase any of Guarana's more select products, as they were also a little pricey, as well as being a bit of a luxury. Also, I've always contended that I'm happier living my life by my own mind, not by adding to it, but I think I may be the exception among Brighton's younger inhabitants! If you're looking for something a little different, this may be for you: try the herbal alternative! I think Guarana might suffer a little under the herbal-highs banner: it seemed to be being avoided by plenty of people as I left. I think Brighton does labour a little under its 'druggy' stigma, and there's more than a few people who'd be happier if places like Guarana weren't around. I'm not one to judge here: I generally say live and let live, so if this doesn't appeal to you, don't worry, and if it does, why not try it out? If you're already taking drugs, you'd think something purely natural would be better? Or have I missed the point of them entirely?

Although this place is predominantly known as the retailer of guarana stimulants and those infamous…read morelegal highs, this is also an excellent place for a smoothie if you're on a new year health kick - with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. You'll also find health foods, and fun items worth a browse like aphrodisiacs!

Really great spot for healthier salads with copious options. I stopped in for lunch one day, and…read moregot their 1 main + 3 salads (£11.50 for eat in, £10.50 for take away). They had about 10 salads to choose from, most of which were vegan, and a bunch of mains, two of which were vegan. For the main, I got a decadent butter bean dish that was wonderfully flavoured, albeit quite oily. The salads were all quite intensely flavoured too, with a broccoli salad that had a nicely horseradish-dominant dressing, a tomato and bell pepper salad that was nicely dressed, and roasted sweet potatoes. Very filling and good value. I was really happy with the food. I capped off the meal with an American (£2.40), which was definitely above average for UK -- seems like the place is run by Italians, so that might be it. Super friendly and helpful staff who kindly pointed out everything that was vegan. All in all, highly recommended spot near the centre and beach.

I walked past and happened to notice the sign out the front advertising an all you can eat lunch for £6.95 per person. If that wasn't enough of an arm twister, the food on display in the window looked AMAZING! Today's hot menu offerings were vegetable soup, beef goulash, vege moussaka and Caribbean chicken drumsticks with mash or rice. And then a gorgeous array of 7 fresh salads to compliment your meal. Fresh, fast and tasty! This quiet and cosy restaurant had super lovely staff, and the food was just fantastic. Great little spot for lunch on North Street.
