V1ntage is for people who don't do gyms and I love the ethos of the place. It really is a great community and very welcoming too. The timetable is varied with everything from vinyasa yoga to spinning and zumba. My favourite class at the moment is bums, legs and tums which has elements of a core strengthening and circuit class. While challenging I enjoy every class I do at V1ntage and they have a great team of instructors who will make you feel welcome. The weekend workshops such as endurance spin and spin yoga are fantastic. They also have kettle bell and Kombat classes. It's a bargain considering I pay less than £30 a month and can do as many classes as I want to. In addition there is no joining fee or contract which means you can basically cancel whenever you like. I throughly recommend V1ntage to anyone in Bolton.

They would merit a 5 star rating if they were just a little cheaper - individual monthly memberships can be pretty hefty and you're looking at a £60 minimum fee. If you can afford a little more to get a little more, or want a club that has pretty much everything, then DL would be your best bet in Bolton for sure!

I have been a member of this gym now since December 2015, it costs me £10 a month which for a large gym like this is peanuts! In the first 4 months of my membership I think I trained at least 5 times a week, the classes where great, the sizes just right, the types of class were well spread out throughout the week. The facilities good. However, this has gradually changed for the worse. Xercise 4 Less regularly have special membership offers on for new customers, so now it's coming upto holiday season, the gym has started to fill up and up and up as people take advantage on the cheap price. This would normally be fine, as there are plenty of machines a available, runners, rowers, bikes, weights, steppers, cross trainers etc The classes however have been ruined by a decision to move classes around, remove some classes and to bring in outside trainers to take classes. The classes are now rammed every night with little chance of getting a place unless you sit checking online every second of the day, the trainers sometimes don't turn up without giving notice either. Staff morale has also taken a big hit. The gym has also started to look shabby, tired and free weight availability has started to become a task in itself. The management need to sort this ASAP as before much longer, the good trainers will start to leave and go elsewhere and people will not renew memberships. It's a shame because it has great potential in the right hands.

Obviously Nuffield is a massive company in itself, however they inject a feel around the place that gives the impression they are less about the money and more about the health and welfare of their members. All they've really updated at the Bolton location is a fresh lick of paint to install the company colours and much needed up dates to the pool and steam room. The gym itself is pretty much the same but to be fair it didn't need anything doing to it and is still probably the largest of its kind in town. Price wise Nuffield is £36 a month on a standard membership - though if you're a student or double up your membership with a partner or husband/wife you can get it cheaper! The cafe area seems to be currently undertaking a bit of an upgrade and the menu is expanding - will report back once tasted!

The gym facilities are excellent and there is a range of equipment and activities for everyone, including a full timetable of classes. We particularly enjoy the swimming facilities. There is a large indoor pool with clean well maintained changing rooms. There are steam rooms and whirlppol spas. The best bit for us is the outdoor swimming area. All safe and supervised with views of the canal. I can highly reccomend a visit to this gym and we have had a family membership for a long while which we have certainly had good value. I've been going for about 5 weeks now as my football team booked us in for weekly strength and conditioning sessions and they are some of the best I've done. I've played football to a pretty high level and along the way have had some great and some shocking fitness/strength and conditioning coaches, but Alex down at Kept Fit is probably up there with the very best. He's knowledgable and attentive to your goals and makes specific plans and training sessions to aid what you're there for - for us to be fitter on a football pitch, and it's most definitely working! You can go down for private sessions or book on to a group class if that gives you the added motivation to work harder. Definitely recommend to anybody looking to lose weight, build muscle or just generally improve their fitness without the added pressure and uncomfortable nature of the big gyms! Also worth noting we haven't lost or even drawn a game since we've been training with Alex!

I've been coming here for years and have pretty much tried all they have to offer. Most often we'd come and play football, they have 5, 5 aside pitches, a 7 aside pitch and an 11 aside (or near enough) pitch - and rental prices are pretty competitive with other options around Bolton. They have a nice little cafe inside as well so you can grab a coffee before or after and they have sandwiches too!
