Limited parking along the front. It was highly recommended by a couple of neighbours, so I made an appointment there. We went right on top and greeted by a friendly stylist at the front. Place is small-ish. And clean. Some white stains were seen on the cover they put on me but could still be caused by bleach. The lady who attended to me was very cautious and very gentle. Mid way she went to get a more experienced stylist to assist in the cutting of the hair. I appreciate that she did that but I felt that it would have been even better if she would have told me from the start. I'm happy to be used for training- but it would have been nice to be told at the start. The correct policy I feel would be for a more senior person to start the conversation and let the junior stylist take over to practice. Overall, it did take longer than necessary for a haircut. I think that upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly person and she was super nice and was helping out a person who seemed to be a new worker. They said they could not take someone at that time and we were gonna come back but then they offered for the new girl to cut my boyfriend's hair. He didn't mind at first because the other girl mentioned that she's cut hair for a while so we didn't think anything of it. Before I continue I just want to preface that this is his experience but I find it a little frustrating for him and want to just let you guys know about this and can hopefully improve upon this for future clients. When he sat down he tried to show the girl a video on what he wanted to do with his hair. Around 10 seconds into showing the video the girl stopped him and said she knew what to do. That was not the case because in the video it said to not use clippers on certain parts of the head and to not cut off so much hair. The video, when watched in its entirety, explains how to cut the hair in the style my boyfriend wanted. He came here before and showed the exact video and had it done correctly previously. So he felt that this other girl could do the same. She chose to not watch the entire video and then proceeded to use the tools that the video said not to use. She turned him away from the mirror as well, which in my opinion I find frustrating because I feel that when a client is getting their hair done, it's important they are in front of a mirror and watching what's happening in order to speak up about what they want. She also then proceeded to cut his hair unevenly. The haircut was super fast and he didn't get any time to really process what was happening. I saw the haircut right after it was done and it was uneven in the back and cut straight across in the front. I was super disappointed in this and I find it utterly disappointing and frustrating that he didn't even really get to voice his opinion on what was happening and that the girl who cut his hair didn't watch the full video on what he wanted or even really spoke to him about it while she was cutting his hair to make sure that's what he wanted. The client's opinion is always important. I don't want anyone in trouble or to seek compensation or anything for free, I simply just want to bring it to this establishment's attention that there were multiple things that I found frustrating. My boyfriend might not want to speak up about it, but I want to just make you guys aware of how upset he was after and how frustrated that made me. Like I said before I don't want anyone in trouble or want anything in return. I just want you guys to acknowledge that this happened and to perhaps just quickly speak to your staff and just learn from this and remind everyone how important it is to listen to a client if they come in wanting something specific. Thank you and I genuinely hope this makes an impact, but unfortunately my boyfriend has made the decision to not come back. He's had haircuts here before and had some good and slightly alright experiences, but I think this was his last straw. I hope the staff learns from this and I hope you guys continue to do well moving forward, thank you. read more

I just received a highlight from the Hair Lounge, and although the hair stylist did a good job, she did not follow what I asked. I asked for a highlight, as light as it could go. She proceeded to ask me 3 times if I wanted low lights. I said "no", all three times. And what did she do? Give me low lights which I specifically said I DIDN'T want. I was talking to a couple friends who also got their hair done there recently and they said the same thing: the stylist did not listen to what they wanted and instead colored their hair how she thought it should be. This is not right. I'm very unhappy with the service I got. They may be skilled, but if a stylist isn't going to listen and follow to what you explicitly request, why have them cut your hair? read more

Brooke saved me! I used to go here years ago but for some reason stopped. Today, I am back for good. Brooke fixed a horrid color from another popular place in town. Although it had been nearly 15 years since I had been to The Hair Lounge, Kendra (the owner) remembered me straight away. On top of fixing my color, Brooke also fixed an uneven cut. This place is why I despise getting my hair cut. When I arrived, the lady who checked me and said my stylist was just finishing up and would be with me in a minute. Thirty minutes later, I was still waiting and hadn't even heard from my stylist. I'm a patient person but not having any idea how long you'll be waiting after 30 minutes is completely unacceptable to me. Two walk ins were seen in the time I was waiting so maybe not making an appointment is a better option at this salon. I will not be returning to find out. read more

If it weren't for 1 being the lowest option, I would give this salon (or hair dresser at this salon to be exact) 0/5 stars in reality. I visited the hair lounge a month and a half ago to solely get a trim because they charge only $16. Over the summer I cut 15 inches off my hair and have been diligently growing it out since then. I made an appointment with Koren and when I got there I told her I simply wanted a trim. Just a half an inch to an inch off my hair, and emphasized no layers and no bangs. She did not follow any of my requests and completely ignored what I wanted. My haircut is totally botched. It's unlike any haircut I have ever received and I could not be more upset about it for the reason that whatever she did looks like a chunk was just taken out of the side of my hair. It doesn't blend in whatsoever (not an exaggeration, you can see it stick out like a sore thumb) and in addition, it's back to the length when I first cut it and six inches shorter than the rest of my hair. Needless to say my hair took a major hit and I lost 10 months of previously growing it out because I had to get it cut again for it to even look remotely good. In the end, I would not recommend this salon, especially Koren. I guess you get what you pay for, cheap and low quality. :( read more
