As a SoHum dude my monthly trip to Eureka on my "list" day accidentally took an unexpected twist. My usual spot was swamped so I Googled and pulled into what the Universe decided was not only that day but for the foreseeable future "my" haircut location. Lark is her name. She cuts hair with mad skillz. A true pro. The vibe is so great and the conversation so quality and the location so comfortable and well planned out that it changed my viewpoint about getting "just another haircut" Thanks to The Hair Port staff. And thank you to my new "barber" and positive vibe specialist, Lark. Make an appointment and have one of the well qualified staff take care of you. Sarah is absolutely amazing!! She is the sweetest person and the absolute best person for blondes. Takes the time to understand exactly what you want, and has the best results. New to the area, so I made a wrong choice going to Hair Port. Sarah cut my hair. I explained very carefully what I needed because I have fine hair. She obviously was not listening. The things I told her to avoid (like texturing) does not work on my hair-did it anyway while I was distracted on an important text message. Cut/hair looked terrible. I always wait until after I wash my hair on a new cut. I called her 4 times for a re-cut/repair. She did not return my calls. Horrible person to do something like that & not take responsibility. Now I have to pay for another haircut to repair this awful cut I cannot do anything with. Stay Away from this dishonest place. read more

I thought they were professionals BUT NO I did get recognition when I walked in the door, my stylist was late and her fingernail hit me in the forehead and left a mark. Rude. Contacting them is difficult at best. I stopped by during business hours on a weekend a few weeks back and they were closed, despite the hours printed on the door. There wasn't a note at all, to say when they would be back. Tried to reach them several times by phone, due to the rave reviews, but got no response. Finally managed to catch them with doors open at around 4pm on a Saturday and was advised in a snotty tone that they don't take walk-in clients and that they run a skeleton crew on the weekends. I let her know that I had tried several times to contact the salon and the woman did not respond, even to offer an apology. She then had the nerve to recommend that I go to the mall to get my hair done. Then had the further nerve to ask if I wanted to take one of their cards on the way out. If I could post with fewer stars, I would. I guess they get a star for the punny name. read more

There is only one person working in the salon and nobody else. Dasheen messed up my friends hair. There are 4 seats for people to sit in. She stated she specializes in natural hair but doesn't have any natural hair products on hand. She had stop and send her to the store to purchase her own hair products for Dasheen to use while she worked on someone else's hair. Then she colored her hair 3 TIMES IN ONE DAY WITHIN A MATTER OF HOURS! She did cute braids but her hair is dry and damaged. I don't believe any of the other reviews. read more

I got a full foil and cut by Tina, and I am in love! It's hard to find someone that listens to what you want and delivers. It was one of the best cuts and colors I've ever had. Plus she was so sweet, and we had such good conversation the entire time. I won't go anywhere else now. Thanks TIna! read more

I am just sick, this is the WORST haircut I have ever had. I went in with hair a couple inches past my shoulder and asked for an a-line cut and I wanted the front kept long. Jewel said she would cut the back so it touched the necklace I had on. My friend just measured it, it is an inch above my necklace. At least 3 inches were cut off the front that was to remain long! And my left side, from the front to the back is at least one inch longer then the right side. This very nice woman who has been cutting hair for 40+ years had absolutely no idea how to cut an a-line. At least she had the good sense not to charge me because she knew she butchered my hair. read more
