Here's what you get: a room, shared bathroom but there's two and it's huge and nice, FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST cooked to order (and I cannot stress this enough because it's bacon, sausage, eggs, griddle tomatoes, toast and homemade marmalade), transfers to and from the airport, tea in your room, a garden with plenty of cute seats, and finally--a great pub withing walking distance. Super sweet family owned. There's parking if you are a driver. The rooms are up a fairly steep set of stairs so if you're a smidgen impaired, you might call first. I booked through hotels.com for 45 pounds (65 USD depending on the day). It was perfect.

Room 7 is stunning, spacious and with a 'modern' 4-poster, just lacking a bath really. Breakfast is included and consists of a great buffet of fruit salad, cereals, yoghurt etc, followed by your choice of full english cooked to order, or bagels with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The proprietor, Terry, goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and is full of helpful tips on the local area. Mine is: check out the Hand in Hand pub just round the corner - brilliant local, Brighton's smallest pub with on-site micro Brewery, heaven! Highly recommended.

After a great meal, we returned to our room and slept for 12 hours, and awoke to the delicious smell of breakfast cooking. Clive and Carmel are so accommodating, they schedule your breakfast time, drive you to and from the airport and even confirm what you want for breakfast. It was so relaxing and comforting after our flight, we will certainly return here. Thank you for the wonderful service!

Located in charming Kemp Town, just steps away from the sea, and we were lucky enough to reserve room 8, a king size double with a sea view. I have to say, both my boyfriend and I have never felt so at home staying in a hotel, and we've never received such a wonderful 5* service at such a decent price (less than £200 for Friday and Saturday night). We wanted for nothing. Upon arrival we were greeted by Matt with complimentary wine, and in the rooms they've gone to every small detail to ensure you have a comfortable stay, including a food and drinks tray, bath robes and slippers, free mineral water, ipod dock to a dvd library. Breakfast is equally outstanding, both cooked and continental including even bagels with salmon and cream cheese, with Andy making any special requests for you. It'll be difficult not to stuff yourself. The overall experience, including Matt and Andy's very helpful advice and generous natures, makes this a gem of a hotel to stay in. But I was in desperate need of some relaxation, so I gave it a try. Lythe Hill Hotel is just outside Haslemere, which is a short train journey from London. Take the briefest of tax journeys and you arrive at a number of small, lovely buildings set in amidst the trees and rolling hills of the Surrey countryside. ...Yes, you read me right, "buildings". So, this is not your typical hotel. An old Tudor house faces the road and this is where the restaurant and bar are located. The reception is a little further down driveway and to the right Ask for a password to access Internet, although it is quite a slow connection. ...You can also get there by helicopter, they have a helipad on the premises too! My building was down a little pathway to the left, next to a green by a "lake" - it's really more of a large pond, but very serene and relaxing. I loved it! My room was HUGE! I couldn't believe my luck! The bathroom was just as big too. I really don't think my pictures did the place justice. Decorated in neutral tones with painted wood panelling. I booked the place on special offer and really got value for money. Enter the front of the Tudor house and through a small narrow hallway you come to the bar which is in the modern extension of the building. It's small but adequate and overlooks the green and the "lake". The restaurant is split between 2 rooms. 1 is in the old building with dark wood panelling, the other is in the modern extension, again decorated in neutral tones. The waiting staff were excellent, friendly, charming and accommodating. The food was great too, although their weren't quite as good and their savory dishes. There's a decent selection of wines and the Maitre d' is happy to offer recommendations. The beauty spa is in a modern building further down from the Tudor house with a swmming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, etc... The beauticians were young, diminutive and very pleasant. I have to admit some of the treatments I thought a waste of time but the Body Ritual was well worth it and achieved exactly what I wanted. De-stressed and untensed, I was reluctant to go back to London.

It's not huge (maybe 12 tables?), but the bright, airy decoration makes it seem open and not at all crowded. We were told that the corner table we wanted wasn't available, but our waitress swiftly jumped in and said she'd re-arrange things so we could sit there. Nice start. Looking at the menu, I didn't fancy any of the starters so we both dived straight into the mains. I had sirloin of sussex beef with garlic mushrooms, dauphinoise potatoes and a wine & rosemary sauce (and a side of green beans). It was delicious. I have to say my steak was maybe a little overcooked for me (I like medium rare), but it was so tasty that I didn't complain. Rare for me when it comes to meat. My friend had fried breaded halloumi with sesame seeds, celeriac and truffle purée, baby spinach, garlic wild mushrooms and red pepper & lentil sauce. Goodness me! It was *delicious*, and the chef even made her up a side of dauphinoise potatoes because she loves them so much. Prior to that we devoured a decent-sized home-made roll as well. Plus, we had the house red, which was a weighty merlot totally under-priced for how nice it was at £19 a bottle. Finished off with an espresso each, and we shared the amaretto & amaretti biscuit parfait with griottine cherries plus almond tuille. Best bit of the meal for me. It honestly makes my mouth water just thinking about how good it was. Somehow, we only ended up paying £32 a head for that. Incredible value, especially as it included 12.5% service! Michelle and I have spent more on basic takeaways than that, and this was divine! We finished our wine in the bar, which is small but perfectly formed with some super-knowledgeable barmen with smiles all round. Two shots for £6 later, and a super recommendation for 'the second best bar in town' - and we were on our way. I have stayed here previously, and the experience was just the same. Each room is unique, and perfect for a romantic getaway for a special occasion - or if you've got some cash to spend! As Samantha C. says below, the rooms are pretty pricey. Well, I'm no Martini expert, but their straight up, made with plymouth gin (or wyborowa vodka, your choice), certainly got me going for the evening, it was delicious - and strong. My personal new favourite though is the Polish Spring Punch: Wyborowa, Chambord, Raspberry purée, fresh lime, Gomme and Champagne. Beautifully presented and although a little more expensive than even a London bar at £8.50, it's worth it just to be there.

They provide comfortable, basic accomodation near to Gatwick, plus will drive you to the airport in the morning. They also provide airport parking for around £4 per night. We stayed here for an early morning departure and left at around 5.30 am. They do a breakfast buffet from a more civilised time around 7am but as we were leaving before that they gave us a basket of breakfast containing croissants and jam, plus there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The rooms are quite old fashioned but clean and the staff were very nice. If you are leaving for the airport later in the day (I think after 10am) you have to make your own way there, plus we had to get back by ourselves. Cost us around £74 for the night and a weeks parking so worked out at fantastic value compared to the cheapest airport hotels. I would definitely stay here for an early morning departure again.

Book direct with the hotel for complimentary breakfast and parking. Don't have a car? The hotel staff arranged car-for-hire for us. The walk to the town center and train station is about 10 minutes. Keep in mind that you're in the Surrey hills, so wear your walking shoes. The hotel was modern and clean. If you have mobility issues, there are 5 steps at the hotel entrance, but easy access to several rooms on the main floor. Our room was quiet (we stayed in Millmead). We opened the windows at night and heard birdsong in the morning.
