Do you have the misfortune of being in Liberal Kansas? Do you want to eat the best damn hamburger of your life? Are you willing to eat at places that look scary as hell? If you answered "yes" to these questions, then stop by The Hamburger Place. Sure, it looks like something out of a horror movie, but you will forget about that the minute a Maria's Special Cheeseburger crosses your lips. One star off for the cheese fries, which were undercooked, but don't let that deter you. This place can hold it's own against any lunch joint in town!

The Hamburger Place has exceptional customer service with the best burgers and milkshakes you will ever find in Southwest Kansas. The Horchata is also second to none!! If you are in the area you have to try it out !

    Best double cheeseburger by far!

Best burger in town. Friendly service. Awesome fries. As cheap as fast food but so much better. Always quick even when the lot is full.

I had read the previous review and thought I'd play it safe with foods that should be easy to handle. I opted for a combo plate with ground beef as my meat options. Everything seemed fine at this point. So I went to the restroom and things started going down hill. It smelled horrible all the way out into the hallway. When I got back to my table there were some chips and salsa served in a cup that looked like something my kids would put play doh in. But the flavor was ok. My meal came out quickly. Way too quickly. I bit into the taco and was disappointed. The "ground beef" had the same texture as the refried beans. My hands were immediately covered in grease and it tasted pretty bland. The enchilada was equally bland and greasy with the added touch of pure mushiness. I was really hungry so I ate both of those, but could not eat the chili relleno. It was just a pepper with two slices of cheese inside then battered and.... I'll call it fried. It was sooo soggy and greasy that I couldn't take it. It hadn't gotten hot enough to fully melt the slices of cheese inside. I have no idea what the batter was but it seemed to be layered on somehow. The best parts of the plate were the canned refried beans and the dry rice.

The nachos had a weird oily flavor as the chips were greasy and the beef was chewy! Poor service…read morealso! Choose a different place!

It was then I remembered glancing at a huge Beef Processing Plant just on the edge of town...think it was called National Beef... And then it hit me: Cattleman's Cafe + Beef Processing Plant...maybe...just maybe..they served steak here That's how I found myself sitting inside this Midwestern country diner. The description on the menu-- Uncle Ed's Steak sounded legitimate. So I had me a rib eye, with a side of corn and Brocolli. Then to start off, some Bloomin Onions. Rating: Ok, I'm going to be real honest, the quality of the beef is *Good* Its on the level of USDA Choice Select, but it IS fresh. Like I can enjoy the natural flavors of the Beef, it's not drenched in marinade and just the overall taste spelled decent quality. Now, because back in the days, I would go out to Costco and pick up USDA Prime Ribeyes three or 4 cuts at under 45.00 (those were the good times). But it wouldn't be fair to compare this to that so for a standard family run affair, this place serves pretty solid steak. Though however the chef kinda went on the rarer side for my Medium Rare and if the cuts have so much fat marbling in them, it probably would be better for the steak to be grilled longer on the fat tissues. The corn sides were a little to sweet and wished they either cut down on the sugar, or use some heavy whipping cream or half and half to balance that sweetness out-- like real creme corn. The Bloomin Onions were a surprise. Over the past decades, I'd probably only order this appetizer at say Outback Steakhouse, but this dish does take the prize for a worthy starter here at the Cattleman's. Overall, server was very locked in. True country hospitality, think her name is Naziah. Kudos! Great service! And anyone ever driving through town, give this place a go.
