I loved taking a photo with the giant sweet tea when I run or walk by, and of course, checking in on Yelp. It's been almost ten years since the record was broken, and while this still stands, I do wish the town would do more with it- or even try to break their own record. If you're here in town visiting, you must get a photo with it. It's right by the free downtown parking garage so super easy and accessible.

My only complaint about this whole thing was that it was difficult to figure out where to go in. As we arrived we actually connected with a small group of people wandering from Fleet Landing and then around in the parking lot next to it trying to figure out how to get in... so a little clearer signage for where to go would be helpful! Great time though, I'm super thankful we won tickets to be able to go!

Don't get me wrong, the homes are beautiful and the history behind them are rich, but it is definitely overhyped. I was also surprised how different it looked in person compared to photos online; I don't know if its the photoshop making the houses look so vibrant and colorful, but the real thing seemed a bit more dull. If you're already in the area, you should definitely see it for yourself, cause you've got nothing to lose. But don't go out of your way to come here, or you may be slightly disappointed like I was.

It marks the center of the town he helped shape over nearly forty years of public service. Myers joined the Town Council in 1965 and became mayor in 1972 after the death of Mayor Allan Luke. He served ten consecutive terms before retiring in 2011. Under his leadership, Summerville grew from a small town of 3,000 to a thriving community of more than 45,000. The memorial includes a bas relief of the mayor and a plaque listing his achievements. It reads, in part, "Mayor Berlin G. Myers. A Lifetime of Service. To Church, to Country and to Community." It notes his birth in Knightsville in 1917, his military service during World War II including landing on Normandy Beach, and his founding of the Berlin G. Myers Lumber Corporation in 1939. I appreciate that they put out a calendar each week of the planned vendors/food trucks on social media so I can plan a visit, if needed. They have a coffee truck and rotating food trucks, so there is plenty of variety to choose from most days. The space itself is nice - chairs, tables, umbrellas, cornhole, etc. They do a good job of keeping it well maintained and overall, the environment is welcoming. Some days, you just need to take a walk or get some air and the greenway provides a great space for it!

(i believe in the perfect gimlet.) of course, so are you, if you'd just listen to me and do as i say and maybe throw a couple shots my way - i mean money, throw money my way! (damn it. why can't i be savvy?) bygones. knowing how to drink is a fine art. i've tried to perfect it. we all need goals, don't we? i'm a very goal-oriented person. the proper place for this ritual, other than of course chai's or club habana, is at someone's house south of broad. these people know how to drink. you must only secure an invitation (or, if the gathering is large or political, uh, no invitation) and dress the part. a properly mixed drink (that delicate balance, that nuanced equilibrium, that rhapsodizing nectar...) is worth the effort. very well, yelplings, to us! because we're going to change this godforesaken planet, one gimlet at a time.
