I received a barber other then the one I had booked because of scheduling complications that I should've been informed of earlier and ended up with a less experienced barber who didn't care about how I wanted my hair and chose what to do on their own. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had from a salon. I don't believe they truly cared for my interest but only their's. I asked for a violet dye, and went for a consultation with a hairstylist, and while she was so sure it would work and last 6 weeks. It lasted 1 wash, and turned orange. It didn't fade to lighter purple, but to orange. I was opposed to bleach but she said that there is no way she could do it without it, and then blamed my hair because it was "a sponge" that it sucks colour in and then spits it back out. I am so frustrated and unsatisfied, and wish I could give no stars because it deserves none! Worst part? I did not get a proper face-to-face apology from her or her manager who was in on the situation. They were both unprofessional about this whole situation, and they only gave me a refund on half ($194.35) of what I spent ($352.94). They were more focused about getting rid of my problem, not to satisfy me as a customer. It was Victoria Day and i needed a haircut for an interview. All the barber shops were closed so I ended up at the Head Shoppe. The hair cut that I recieved here was absolutely the WORST haircut I have ever had. The store was really nice and the people that worked there were nice but unfortunately the person that cut my hair did a terrible job. Extremely disorganized and unreliable salon. I've had my appointments cancelled, twice, due to their inability to hold appointments. I booked in advance, and confirmed my appointment, was at the mall waiting, but still, they were not able to fulfil their commitment. If you have an event or important function and you want your hair done - don't go to this salon, you will be disappointed and left "high and dry" at the last minute trying to find another salon to take you. The Head Shoppe's customer service is always spot on. I'm awful for calling them and asking for same day appointments and most of the time they've been able to fit me in somewhere. The salon is wonderfully decorated and the staff is polite. They're happy to take your coat & bags, make you as many drinks as you desire, and are generally fun to chat with. I used to have extremely long hair and I had gradually shortened it over a year & a half. I got stylist Thi to finally give me the pixie cut. It looks great! Very happy with the cut, the experience, and the price. I've got to see her again every 6 weeks to maintain the cut but for the price, I'm not worried. read more

I've never had a barber or stylist flick their tiny scissors around for under five minutes and ask - so that's good? What the hell? When I said, umm, no, I want it thinned out like I asked you to do. I was the only male customer in the place so could it be possible the stylists are encouraged to spend as little time as possible with men to make sure there's a chair for more expensive female cuts? I started going to the Head Shoppe in the Halifax Shopping Centre about a year ago, and I love it there! I was very nervous to find a new hair salon as I have had a few bad experiences in the past and am on a budget. I needed to find a place that fit my budget and wouldn't send me on my way with chunks of hair missing. I find all of the staff at the Head Shoppe are very friendly but Courtney is the stylist I always see there and she is great! She is very friendly, she listens to what I am looking for and gives her advice. She always makes sure I'm happy with my cut before I leave. Their prices are very reasonable, it usually costs me about $30 for a cut and style which is great! They have recently been moved upstairs in Halifax Shopping Centre and I love their new location! The atmosphere is great, they have a lot more space and it's very modern and polished. I always have a good experience when I go there! read more

This Head Shoppe, in Halifax Shopping Centre, has recently been moved upstairs and had a FANTASTIC make-over! Their new store is much larger than the last with more room for everything from retail, to sitting area, to hair to nails. I've been going to this salon on and off for about 3 years, but the last year I've been going here exclusively. And it's due to a staff member: Nicole. Nicole is an amazing young stylist, and friend, who works hard to make sure her clients are not only happy with their cut but enjoy an excellent experience while with her. She's great for a conversation, has a great sense of humour and a host of ideas when your do' need a pick-me-up. All the other staff members I've met at this salon is kind, professional, well-trained and enthusiastic about their job. It's a great atmosphere with knowledgeable staff. I always have a wonderful experience at this Head Shoppe. read more

I love the Head shoppe. It seems that any location I have been to has had excellent stylists and a really nice atmosphere. I go most often to the location at Dutch Village Road. Bonnie is a master and she has helped me grow my crappy hair out before and when she did, she charged me for a "bang trim" After a bad bowl cut...I went back to Bonnie to grow it out. She's still as good as ever-a true master. Now she charges me the full price, even if it's just a trim and I have short hair which is too bad. I'll keep seeing her because she is good... read more

This is my first time been to this store and I am not satisfied at all about the services from some staff. I was booked for an hour long appointment with a junior person in the store. When she's doing my hair she seems very impatient and rushed the process (finished it 30 mins early for no reason). Plus she hurt my hair and ears a couple of times and did not apologize. When I explained to her what I want for my hair style, she seemed like she does not get it and said: "like what?". Very bad attitude and very bad experience. Ok....gotta love hair salons. What girl doesn't? The new location in the mall is great, and the make over is a noticeable improvement. Much larger space and more functionality for sure. BUT here us my beef..... Wow to the Esthetics team!!! Maybe a little more training for some staff members?? Also they need to HEAR what the customer/client is asking for. My daughter went in for an eyebrow wax, has had it done many times( not in this shop), so knows what she wants and how to communicate that. Well. Except for today. I know 8 year olds with better listening skills and better sculpting skills as well. My dear daughter looks to have had two different people working on her at once. Badly shaped, crooked and just not a great job at all. In the end my daughter says to eyebrow chick..." Well they ARE cleaned up but..." " that's what I was going for " says eyebrow chick. I wonder if she used hedge clippers??? Not only are her brows shapeless, but they are far from cleaned up...and to add insult to injury, her face, from forhead to cheek bones was so swollen and red!!!! I'm sure the stylists have more training, but I'd search for a back alley Esthetics chick, or possibly Edward Scissor hands before trusting my brows to this place!!! IMO. read more

I must update my previous review of the Head Shoppe. After being charged for a service I did not receive, cut and style for $49 Nicole from Head office contacted me and listened to my story. Nicole was quite helpful and offered to refund my money for charge. Thank you head shoppe for doing the right think and following through with my concerns. read more

I look so bad right now I do not want to go out of my house. My stylist was sweet and nice but new and I wanted ombre blond hair and I have the first half of my head dark red and the rest bright blond. I have an appointment to have it fixed but I don't think I want to come back to the Head Shoppe for fear of it getting worse. It was the first time I ever left a hair appointment devastated and in tears. I do not want to go to work tomorrow. I think your more experienced staff could've helped her out and given her more advise on how to achieve what I was looking for. NOT TO MENTION IT COST ME $252.00 to leave there sick to my stomach and looking like a freak. read more

Today was the last straw. The front line staff at this location are continulsey rude. My husband has been a client there for over 20 years. He bought me 2 travel size bottels of shampoo for my stocking. (they are the wrong type for my hair) so went in today to exchange them. I did not have the receipt, but the bottles still had the original tags showing that they were from that store, and the price. Important to note here..... the total retail value is only $13. I simply just wanted to exchange them for the right kind. Well........ apparently you need the receipt no matter what. They did not offer to get a manager. They did not even attempt to try and find a resolution. In fact, what they did instead was accuse me of stealing. I was appalled. I mean I have worked in the service industry for over 25 years. I know that there a policies and rules. But I also know that there are ways to treat people. And today I was treated VERY rudely. I am embarrassed to say that I left the store with tears in my eyes, and when I turned around to look back, the staff were standing there laughing at me. !!! NOT ok. My husband called them to confirm he had purchased the items and confirm his long time relationship with the salon and the stylist he sees. He was than treated VERY rudely. And when he pointed out that this was a customer relationship that he was going to walk away from if they didn't try and do something...... they replied with "oh well". And hung up on him, twice!! So a client of 20+ years is gone because a bunch of simple minded rude ladies working on the front counter couldn't be bothered to take a little time to be kind. I could have accepted the policy, but not the rude treatment. If you like paying inflated prices for your hair cuts and you want rude front line service, this is your place. read more

I first went in with a pretty bad haircut and horrible roots/dye job, and she completely fixed and improved it. She listened and took her time with me and fully understood what I was looking for. I came in for a consultation in the morning to have my hair coloured and booked an appointment with a different girl later that afternoon. I asked if it would be any problem to do what I wanted and if there was i'd just go somewhere else; they clarified and said that they could of course do what I wanted and I should book an appointment for that day if that's what I want. When I came back for my appointment (with a different girl) I was told the complete opposite of everything they had said in my consultation. On top of that I had to wait half an hour as they debated what to do. In the end I walked away with no colour and an afternoon completely wasted. I am thoroughly not impressed. I saw Jackie about a month ago for a color correction from Dark brown to light brown with blonde highlights and I love how she has blended the colors. I've received plenty of compliments on my color & highlights. She did a fabulous job! I will definitely be going back to see her again. read more

Went to Head Shoppe at Halifax shopping centre a Complete disappointment. Went for haircut and what I specified to them not to do they did exact the same. Told so many times this is not what I want but they didn't listen, finally got frustrated and had to leave with bad hair cut. Definitely not gonna visit again. read more
