As a west coaster, I thought we had the lock on cool tiki bars. I was pretty wrong. Hello Hi takes tiki up about 3 notches. I mean, the legit standards done very well, home versions of standards, some great concoctions of their own, the BEST design for your own atmosphere wants too. Booth? They have that. Cool bar? Yep. Hightop to people watch from? Got it. Corner stage area? Sure. Separate intimate room with cool tiki decor? That too. So, you can have cool tiki place (seen a few of them), you can have an on point cocktail game (tasted a few of them), and you might have good service (experienced that too). But all three in one place? Rare. All three as perfect as you can get? Super rare. I would have said only in CA, but, Sioux Falls has it in The Hello Hi. 100%, the best around. read more

The good: ambiance is cool. Music is chill. Over all great vibe. The OK: Service is poor. Wasn't even busy yet had to wait 10 min to get drinks. The bad: Once you get over the cool glasses you realize that you just paid 13 dollars for an absolutely packed glass of ice. GF Couldn't even get a sip out using a straw on the first pull. By the second pull, beverage was gone. Way overpriced for what you get which in essence is a tall glass of ice with a splash of booze. Sad. read more

An honest group of bartenders! My husband and I came in to celebrate and we were pretty promptly met by a bartender who took our order. We had multiple other bartenders stop by and ask if we had ordered yet. Within 10 minutes, the original bartender came over and let us know about his mistake and gave us our first drinks with a discount. If I love anything, it's a service worker who can own up for their mistake! We made sure to order another beverage to leave a fabulous tip. This bar is like a speakeasy. We entered a pizza togo restaurant, they sell by the slice. If you go to the left, it's a tiki lounge area. Through another door is the bar. Dark and intimate setting. We ordered some drinks at the bar right as they shouted last call. The bartenders made sure to take our drink orders before cleaning up. I also managed to get a couple slices of pizza before they closed as well. Would definitely recommend. read more

Watched a bartender take multiple shots on the job While standing at the bar for I kid you not 40 minutes. With a friend as well. And the bartenders. All 3 of them. Kept serving the same people over and over. worst bartending experience in my life. HOWEVER. The aesthetic is pretty nice. Theres cool vintage movies, music videos, and cartoons playing on the TVs and lots of little details everywhere. however I wouldn't have noticed them if I wasn't waiting at the bar for 40 minutes... with my phone out trying to read the drink menu because it's so dark, while yelling at my friend to communicate because the music is quite loud. this isn't the worst bar I've seen but the service was extremely disappointing compared to the visual appeal. read more

We have been to a lot of tiki bars, and when we heard there was a new one in my husband's hometown of Sioux Falls, we had to check it out on our trip. To say it blew away our expectations would be an understatement. This place is one of the most stunning and unique bars we have ever been to. The decor is the most perfect blend of modern, mid century pop and classic tiki and I can't do it all justice with my lack of photography skills. The drink menu is simple, with a few house specialties and we enjoyed them all. Sorry, I'm not the best drink reviewer, especially because I'm still enjoying their effects- just tell the bartender what you usually like and ask for recommendations. A unique and interesting addition to downtown Sioux Falls! We were there on a Friday evening, and it was busy, but we were able to order at the bar and find a booth to sit. The tropical environment and drinks is so different for Sioux Falls, and there are unique drink options along with that. I had the Painkiller, which was so delicious (which might be dangerous). Was visiting for work and this bar was down the street from my hotel. I heard from a local that their back room pizza was good so I walked over for dinner and a couple of drinks one night. This place was awesome. I'm not sure why their reviews are so low because I had an excellent experience. First of all the atmosphere was a really cool tiki bar vibe. I could have been in any trendy neighborhood in a major city with how on point the decor and feel was, even walking in as a lone female. The bartenders were friendly and attentive and even made me an obscure off menu cocktail that I love and it was perfect. I did order some pizza from the back. Can't believe how affordable it is. Large slices of delicious pizza that had some tried and true standby flavors like pepperoni but had a veggie option and a nightly special. I had a slice of the veggie and a slice of the special that night. I topped it off with an on menu cocktail, the Painkiller. This variation was on the rocks and made the perfect dessert. Cocktail prices were on par for what I received and I was impressed with the quality. Overall I will be back when I'm in town and I'll be sure to spread the word to my traveling colleagues. The Hello Hi just opened and during our Covid-induced no travel year we had to check it out. Hubby tried a margarita, flavorful but small for the price. I enjoyed my Schilling passport cider. You can taste both the passion fruit and the pineapple in it . We loved the fun and funky decor of the bar, made us reminisce about La Mariana Sailing Club outside Honolulu. But when we asked about a drink additive we were literally told that's how they are always made! We travel extensively and generally drink the same things. Was excited to check this place out. The interior is very cool and the pizza was amazing. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. We had just came from Woodgrain. So the two people that ordered first happened to order cokes. Apparently this is a faux pas as the server rudely said "let me guess, you want a Sprite". I said no I am having a cocktail. We felt we weren't "cool" enough to be taking up space in this place. Our server never even came back to our table. Perhaps they are only welcoming to the hipster crowd. Bartender politely move patrons at the bar to allow my spouse and I to sit together. My spouse had a whiskey old-fashioned and said it was one of the best he's had.
